This was our third visit to Villa Tranquillity and it is still an amazing place. The villa has had a few improvements this year which really finish it off as an amazing place to stay. In particular we liked the fridge down near the pool area and the table tennis. There is a lot to explore in the local unspoilt area of Islamlar and there is always the bright lights of Kalkan if you want a bit more buzz.

The villa was exactly as described on the website. Fabulous. Outstanding quality, lovely furnishing with personal touches all around and a fantastic view. Totally private, and thankfully cooler than Kalkan by 3 or 4° C due to its elevation.
We had a disabled person staying with us and found the ground floor perfect, as it was level with the car parking area, has a bedroom and large shower room with room for a chair. There were a couple of steps down to the pool, but these would easily be overcome with a small ramp if a wheel chair is essential. The large pool provided ideal therapy for him.
We used the property to have a holiday with my family the first week and my wifes family the second week. The owner was very helpful and always concerned that we would enjoy our stay.
Access to Kalkan is a 10 minute drive down the hill and there are loads of local restaurants nearby, in an around Islamar all very friendly and accommodating. The closest restaurant (Bodamya) happily delivered food (sometimes we collected) without charge. It was very cheap and saved a lot of fuss with the barbeque.
Our best day out was to Saklikent Gorge. Dont miss it and be sure to go early. We left at 8 am and arrived by 8:45 with nobody else there. Had the gorge entirely to ourselves for the full inward journey (1 1/2 hrs). By the time we left hundreds of folk were making their way in. Turn up after 11 am and youre guaranteed a lot of waiting due to the narrowness of the gorge and thereby oneway traffic. Take a waterproof camera as its very likely to get wet (water was chest deep in places) and make sure to collect a guide. Lunch locally and finish off with a tube ride down the river.

My husband and I my best friend and her husband all stayed at the Villa Tranquillity in the last week in June 2012….. Firstly one week was definitely not long enough at this magnificent place!! We arrived just as the sun was setting so we got to appreciate the amazing views as we pulled into the gated villa we all looked on from the Garden over the infinity pool down into the pretty bay of Kalkan and its twinkling lights. The Villa is set back into the Taurus Mountains and it was incredibly peaceful and tranquil……. It really was Heaven on Earth.
The Property itself was breath taking and done to an extremely high standard and had some really beautiful Turkish authentic pieces you automatically felt like you were in a 5* Boutique Hotel. It was luxurious, clean, spacious, comfortable and everything you dream of and more. It sleeps 12 (5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms). Rooms on the front of the villa all have balconies (and not just little ones!!) and also there are patios with lovely areas to eat outside and a comfy seating area to take in the views and relax with a Efes or 2!! Also by the pool there is a lovely dining area set under the grape vines where we had a few BBQ’s and relaxed taking in the surroundings… we really enjoyed this.
The booking process was very easy and straightforward and when we arrived we were greeted by a friendly neighbour who showed us round and how to use all the appliances etc. She was also very helpful at recommending what we could do with our week’s stay at the villa and surrounding areas.
There was lots of things we all wanted to do but a week just wasn’t long enough as we really wanted to stay and appreciate the villa some days. We did however go to Saklikent to the gorge walk which takes about 45mins each way but it really is worth it to get to the fresh waterfall at the end, Its hard going but lots of fun and I managed it at 25 weeks pregnant. So would recommend this for adventurous people. At the end we stopped at one of the cafes by the water for Turkish coffee and Pancakes which is definite a must do.
Another definite must do is Patara Beach – this is a nature reserve so its unspoilt by hotels being built around it and commercial shops, food places, bars etc. This was our favourite beach.
Kalkan centre is very pretty with its winding cobble streets lined with traditional Turkish shops and few touristy bits inbetween there is lots of nice bags and jewellery for the ladies!! We ate out 3 nights and for great food with excellent service we recommend ‘Aubergines’ a little more expensive than some of the other restaurants but worth every penny.
We will hopefullly be booking for next year too :) we really cant say enough good things about this wonderful place.

We are 10 adults who have taken self-catering holidays together for 5 years. Our requirement is to stay in a top-of-the-range villa that has a minimum of 5 bathrooms. We usually go to a different country each year but, such was the quality of Villa Tranquility, that we are looking to return. One wants for nothing in this property - it is eqipped as if it is a permamnet reseidence and it really is excellent value.

We spent the most amazing week in Villa Tranquillity. The villa was immaculate and in reality even more impressive than the beautiful pictures. Everything was in perfect working order and we really had a fantastic time. The booking through Villarenters was smooth and efficient, as always. The owners, John and Shirley, were a tremendous help and sent us very helpful details about the property, how to get there, what to do and see, where to eat, etc. This made the holiday very relaxing and enjoyable.
The property was very spacious and every detail was polished to a luxury standard. Each en suite room was special and the pool was fantastic. The garden is much larger than the pictures suggest and is full of lovely fruit trees and areas of interest that would fascinate young and old alike. Getting to the villa from Dalaman airport is very quick (2 hours) and efficient and even if you elect to drive yourself, it would be reached without much trouble. The drive to the villa once you hit Islamlar is interesting with its rugged mountainous road, and though this was challenging with a small engine car, it added to the charm!
In terms of activities in this part of Turkey, we had booked a number of excellent adventures and each far exceeded our expectations. We started with Paragliding in Oludeniz (booked through Sky Sports) and it was amazing and perhaps the best scenery anywhere in the world. We also did horse riding (Patara forest and beach), canoeing the Xanthos river (15km), diving (with Dolphin Divers), Saklikent park and gorge, swimming in Patara and Oludeniz, and finally hired a private boat for the day and had a fantastic time jumping off into turquoise waters when we wanted to. Most of the activities were arranged by Bravetours, a company recommended by John and from whom we also rented the car. I have to say that they were absolutely top class and delivered on every front and were very professional.
The highlight of our time however was to meet and get to know Güler and Harry, who manage the villa for John and Shirley. Güler was a wonderful human being who treated us like family and made our time so memorable and enjoyable. She showed us everything and made excellent recommendations for most things. She joined us for the diving and the boat trip and invited us to have lunch with her friends at the top of the mountain where we enjoyed a fantastic traditional Turkish lunch with her friends. For me, this was the most memorable part of the holiday and the week. Thank you Güler and Harry for all your help and affection.
Any negative issues: not really. The only regret was to book only one week. We would have happily spent a second week just relaxing in the villa and enjoying a gentle pace of life, in luxury!
Overall, this was the best villa holiday we have ever had, and we have had them all over the world. It is great value for money and the whole experience left us very refreshed and happy. We will definitely visit again and wish to thank John and Shirley for sharing their home with us, Güler and Harry for being so wonderful and Villarenters for being so efficient.

This property is a real treasure. It is a quiet and beautiful place, inside the mountains, with all facilities. There are so many things to do around (Patara, Kalkan, seaboat, butterfly valley, Saklikent, Kaputas, ...) that it is often difficult to choose between visiting and just relaxing by the swimming pool.
There are spacious and luxury rooms, a fully equiped kitchen, a splendid living room...and the table outside where we spent most dinners made us feel like princes !
Not to forget : the 3rd floor offers an incredible vew of the stars by night
The onner was extremely kind and helpful with us. He recommanded us lots of places to visit, restaurants, shops, markets, roads from the airport, ...
I cant help but recommand this villa !
The villa is beautiful - filled with lovely, local arts and treasures that make it feel both luxurious and homey. The facilities for cooking are good and we appreciated the ability to wash clothes. Guler was quite willing to help us get settled and familiar with the area.
The view is breathtaking and the grounds equally lovely. As mentioned by others, the road to Villa Tranquillity is twisty but we made it ok. We recommend getting a car. Restaurants in the area are excellent and there is so much to see and do in the area.
And a word about Turkey itself - its a great country. The people are friendly. The food is great, the shopping fun and good and the history and scenery compelling. More Americans should visit and stay at Villa Tranquillity!
We are back and I must say, THE VILLA WAS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!! More than we could ever have imagined... We were wowed, stunned, grateful and pleasantly surprised at every turn. Each day became richer and better. We loved having "our own home" and being able to cook. Villas clearly are the only way to travel. Our 5-star hotel in Istanbul was a huge disappointment after the villa. There is no way we could have known how much we would love villa-style-living and the ability to both be peaceful at home and then forage out to such wonderful sights (ruins at Patara were also amazing) when desired. So, thank you, thank you, thank you.
The villa itself is fabulous. Im sure everybody says that. We loved every bit of it, especially the pool, the terraces and the master bedroom and bath upstairs. Someone was kind enough to leave a couple of rafts under the downstairs stairs for our Extreme Pool Pleasure (great move! I hope they remain) and we did much of our dining al fresco under the sun, moon, and shameless swathe of creamy Milky Way which materialized nightly after the Moon had made her pass and just dazzled us to no end. The telescope on the middle terrace is a GREAT ADDITION.
We indulged in much star gazing and exploration of the mountain range to the south of the villa where there are ancient terraces which, we learned from Hasan, our most excellent host at the Bodamya Restaurant, the village folks used to take their animals to graze for nourishment and to keep them out of home gardens.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Saklikent Gorge. Hands down, fabulous. Only about an hour away. Reasonable. Awesome. Challenging. Lovely. And then delicious food and setting after making the trek into the mountains.
Tips or Restaurants:
Which brings us to the second most fabulous part of the whole thing, aside from the villa itself. The Bodamya Restaurant. Who knew the best food we would have in all of Turkey (including over a week of dining throughout Istanbul) would be within walking distance of the villa? We meandered over to the Bodamya (original name of the village now also known as Islamlar) many mornings and evenings to start and end our days and could not have been happier with the setting (idyllic, shady, breeze, views), service (Hasan was lovely and answered all the questions we accumulated each day about the local region and Turkish life in general, including much education from a villagers point of view about economics, politics, culture) AND food!!!! All fresh, delicious, surprising to the palate and super reasonable. Plus, the joy of meandering back to the villa under the balmy night sky after a delicious dinner and a glass of Raki cannot be beat. The restaurant made the villa seem far less "remote" than it would have otherwise. We were just wowed that it was so wonderful and /right there.

The villa is in a fantastic location, nice and quiet but with local restaurants and the town of Kalkan on the door step. Its the sort of place where its just nice to get up in the morning and look at the view from the mountains down to the sea. The villa itself is very nicely furnished inside and out and has everything you might need on a holiday, you really feel lucky to be there. There is a lots to do in the area to suit all tastes from nice beaches to ancient sites to adventure tourism. Well hopefully be going back again.
