This was our third visit to Villa Tranquillity and it is still an amazing place. The villa has had a few improvements this year which really finish it off as an amazing place to stay. In particular we liked the fridge down near the pool area and the table tennis. There is a lot to explore in the local unspoilt area of Islamlar and there is always the bright lights of Kalkan if you want a bit more buzz.

The villa was exactly as described on the website. Fabulous. Outstanding quality, lovely furnishing with personal touches all around and a fantastic view. Totally private, and thankfully cooler than Kalkan by 3 or 4° C due to its elevation.
We had a disabled person staying with us and found the ground floor perfect, as it was level with the car parking area, has a bedroom and large shower room with room for a chair. There were a couple of steps down to the pool, but these would easily be overcome with a small ramp if a wheel chair is essential. The large pool provided ideal therapy for him.
We used the property to have a holiday with my family the first week and my wifes family the second week. The owner was very helpful and always concerned that we would enjoy our stay.
Access to Kalkan is a 10 minute drive down the hill and there are loads of local restaurants nearby, in an around Islamar all very friendly and accommodating. The closest restaurant (Bodamya) happily delivered food (sometimes we collected) without charge. It was very cheap and saved a lot of fuss with the barbeque.
Our best day out was to Saklikent Gorge. Dont miss it and be sure to go early. We left at 8 am and arrived by 8:45 with nobody else there. Had the gorge entirely to ourselves for the full inward journey (1 1/2 hrs). By the time we left hundreds of folk were making their way in. Turn up after 11 am and youre guaranteed a lot of waiting due to the narrowness of the gorge and thereby oneway traffic. Take a waterproof camera as its very likely to get wet (water was chest deep in places) and make sure to collect a guide. Lunch locally and finish off with a tube ride down the river.

My husband and I my best friend and her husband all stayed at the Villa Tranquillity in the last week in June 2012….. Firstly one week was definitely not long enough at this magnificent place!! We arrived just as the sun was setting so we got to appreciate the amazing views as we pulled into the gated villa we all looked on from the Garden over the infinity pool down into the pretty bay of Kalkan and its twinkling lights. The Villa is set back into the Taurus Mountains and it was incredibly peaceful and tranquil……. It really was Heaven on Earth.
The Property itself was breath taking and done to an extremely high standard and had some really beautiful Turkish authentic pieces you automatically felt like you were in a 5* Boutique Hotel. It was luxurious, clean, spacious, comfortable and everything you dream of and more. It sleeps 12 (5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms). Rooms on the front of the villa all have balconies (and not just little ones!!) and also there are patios with lovely areas to eat outside and a comfy seating area to take in the views and relax with a Efes or 2!! Also by the pool there is a lovely dining area set under the grape vines where we had a few BBQ’s and relaxed taking in the surroundings… we really enjoyed this.
The booking process was very easy and straightforward and when we arrived we were greeted by a friendly neighbour who showed us round and how to use all the appliances etc. She was also very helpful at recommending what we could do with our week’s stay at the villa and surrounding areas.
There was lots of things we all wanted to do but a week just wasn’t long enough as we really wanted to stay and appreciate the villa some days. We did however go to Saklikent to the gorge walk which takes about 45mins each way but it really is worth it to get to the fresh waterfall at the end, Its hard going but lots of fun and I managed it at 25 weeks pregnant. So would recommend this for adventurous people. At the end we stopped at one of the cafes by the water for Turkish coffee and Pancakes which is definite a must do.
Another definite must do is Patara Beach – this is a nature reserve so its unspoilt by hotels being built around it and commercial shops, food places, bars etc. This was our favourite beach.
Kalkan centre is very pretty with its winding cobble streets lined with traditional Turkish shops and few touristy bits inbetween there is lots of nice bags and jewellery for the ladies!! We ate out 3 nights and for great food with excellent service we recommend ‘Aubergines’ a little more expensive than some of the other restaurants but worth every penny.
We will hopefullly be booking for next year too :) we really cant say enough good things about this wonderful place.

We are 10 adults who have taken self-catering holidays together for 5 years. Our requirement is to stay in a top-of-the-range villa that has a minimum of 5 bathrooms. We usually go to a different country each year but, such was the quality of Villa Tranquility, that we are looking to return. One wants for nothing in this property - it is eqipped as if it is a permamnet reseidence and it really is excellent value.

We spent the most amazing week in Villa Tranquillity. The villa was immaculate and in reality even more impressive than the beautiful pictures. Everything was in perfect working order and we really had a fantastic time. The booking through Villarenters was smooth and efficient, as always. The owners, John and Shirley, were a tremendous help and sent us very helpful details about the property, how to get there, what to do and see, where to eat, etc. This made the holiday very relaxing and enjoyable.
The property was very spacious and every detail was polished to a luxury standard. Each en suite room was special and the pool was fantastic. The garden is much larger than the pictures suggest and is full of lovely fruit trees and areas of interest that would fascinate young and old alike. Getting to the villa from Dalaman airport is very quick (2 hours) and efficient and even if you elect to drive yourself, it would be reached without much trouble. The drive to the villa once you hit Islamlar is interesting with its rugged mountainous road, and though this was challenging with a small engine car, it added to the charm!
In terms of activities in this part of Turkey, we had booked a number of excellent adventures and each far exceeded our expectations. We started with Paragliding in Oludeniz (booked through Sky Sports) and it was amazing and perhaps the best scenery anywhere in the world. We also did horse riding (Patara forest and beach), canoeing the Xanthos river (15km), diving (with Dolphin Divers), Saklikent park and gorge, swimming in Patara and Oludeniz, and finally hired a private boat for the day and had a fantastic time jumping off into turquoise waters when we wanted to. Most of the activities were arranged by Bravetours, a company recommended by John and from whom we also rented the car. I have to say that they were absolutely top class and delivered on every front and were very professional.
The highlight of our time however was to meet and get to know Güler and Harry, who manage the villa for John and Shirley. Güler was a wonderful human being who treated us like family and made our time so memorable and enjoyable. She showed us everything and made excellent recommendations for most things. She joined us for the diving and the boat trip and invited us to have lunch with her friends at the top of the mountain where we enjoyed a fantastic traditional Turkish lunch with her friends. For me, this was the most memorable part of the holiday and the week. Thank you Güler and Harry for all your help and affection.
Any negative issues: not really. The only regret was to book only one week. We would have happily spent a second week just relaxing in the villa and enjoying a gentle pace of life, in luxury!
Overall, this was the best villa holiday we have ever had, and we have had them all over the world. It is great value for money and the whole experience left us very refreshed and happy. We will definitely visit again and wish to thank John and Shirley for sharing their home with us, Güler and Harry for being so wonderful and Villarenters for being so efficient.

What a fantastic place - great view - amazing garden and swimming pool - a choice of really nice places to eat your dinner and to top it off a roof terrace to look at the stars in the evening.
Everything about this villa is amazing from the size, to the furniture, to the tranquillity, and the people in the surrounding area, and local village of Islamlar are very helpful and welcoming. I cant recommend this place highly enough!

We had a splendid week at Villa tranquility.
The Villa itself is one of the best we have stayed in, out of 12 we have rented over the last 7 years, although the grounds were small.
The kitchen was great for a big group that love to cook together.
The kids really enjoyed the pool, and the balconies and views were greatly enjoyed by the adults.
The interior is beautifully decorated, without being cluttered.
Guler was a great help to us, coming shopping with us the first evening and arranging a boat trip, which was a great day out.
She also provided very iuseful information on other things to do in the area.
The hill climb up to the villa was a bit daunting at first, but after 2 weeks of drivbing in Turkey, I realise that it is par foir the course.
We have never returned to a villa, but Villa Tranquility is on the shotrlist if we ever do.

The villa was wonderful thank you - such a beautiful spot & so peaceful. We spent quite a lot of time around the pool, which the children loved, just relaxing & playing games with the children. When we did manage to drag ourselves away, we went scuba diving with Dolphin Scuba in Kalkan ( good diving & instruction but boat too hot & crowded for our liking), day trip on Flora boat from Kas which you recommended (very enjoyable day & well worth the money), trip to Saksilent(spelling?) gorge (we all loved this - very Indiana Jones!!) & Patara ruins (really interesting - our 10 year old son loved them!).
With regard to restaurants, we walked to the one just up the road (Bodemeya Tepe????) a few times & was always made really welcome there by Hassan. Lovely food & the children really liked exploring the garden & seeing the fish & ducks. Chops was enjoyable - limited menu but very Turkish & food good. Also went to Aubergine in Kalkan which was extremely nice & Adams on the road out of Kalkan towards Kas which has the most fabulous view!
With regard to the villa, we were all really pleased with it.
All in all a very enjoyable two weeks & wed all certainly go back to Turkey again. Its such a fascinating country & the people so friendly. Perhaps at a cooler time of year though - it was boiling!!! Thank goodness for the pool & aircon!!
Thanks very much for all your help with our booking.

Just to let you know that we have been travelling Europe for 8 years as a family group and the consensus was that it was the best villa
we have stayed in and we have always looked for good villas. We have spent more financially on villas before but always based in Greece, Spain, Italy or France. We appreciate that Turkey is cheaper generally and that we had relatively cheap local restaurants and the slightly more expensive ones in town but it worked well financially for us as a group.
The staff looking after the garden and cleaning the house were fantastic. They were very un-intrusive .
We do not usually go back anywhere because we like to move on but we are seriously tempted this time.
A great holiday was had by all
Very best wishes

We had a fabulous time at Villa Tranquility, possibly our best holiday so far (with regards to our group family holidays). We loved the villa, obviously a lot of thought has gone into the decorating of it and the attention to detail everywhere was very much appreciated......lots of oohs and ahhs of appreciation could be heard as Guler showed us around!!The view is of course magnificent,we enjoyed the fact that we were isolated but not!! great that Kalkan was not too far away ,we spent a few evenings at various restaurants there and always enjoyed our meals.
We had a couple of very good day trips out .. hiring a boat for the day which Guler arranged,(this was probably our best day of the holiday for every one) swimming in the coves and sunbathing on the deck and a Turkish lunch provided...(and a very good one too!) we all had a great time.
We visited the Gorge , which again was a great day and also Olu-deniz for the para gliding which a few of the group bravely did and thoroughly enjoyed.
My sister in law Liz, who is doing a degree in photography..took some great photos of the locals in the village....they seemed very keen on the whole idea and bought out other members of the family and even their goats! after which they then very kindly showed us how the mill worked and Liz has promised to send them some of the photos she took of them all!
We also visited Kas ,which we loved...we have all said we would love to go back to the area sometime, as their is still so much that we didnt manage to see and there seems to be plenty to see and do for everyone..which isnt always easy to find with a large group of people of varying ages.
Thank you for sharing your gorgeous villa with us.

The Villa is aptly named. It is indeed beautifully tranquil. The setting is breathtaking. This is no ordinary holiday let, more like staying in someones much loved home. The design touches throughout make it
more luxurious than most. The local restaurants on the hill are all you need for a proper taste of the local cuisine. We appreciated the privacy and the information given before we went, made the trip a joy.

The house and views are magnificent the rooms very spacious, the pool and gardens very well kept. The kids loved the size of the pool. we had a very relaxing time there. we hired a car and traveled around a lot. Kalkan is a beautiful town with lots of shopping and nice restarants. but to come back to a lovely holiday home made the hoilday. We all wanted to stay another week. I would recomend this house to anybody who wants a home from home feel on holiday.
Downside - none
A wonderful villa,. Excellent quality and lots of care taken to make us feel very welcome. We were met and looked after with great friendliness. This was our first visit to Turkey and the country and people were marvellous.
Fireflies and shooting stars as we walked hone from local restaurants added to the magic !
Villa Tranquillity can not have a better name. It is ... a place of tranquillity in the middle of pure nature, mountains around and a spectacular view down to the sea and the two islands in front of Kalkan. We are the ones wanting those places for holiday which give us a feeling of total privacy, but also the possibility to join restaurants and bars in the evening, when we like to. After having been out and then come back to the villa it is a great feeling.
The villa is very luxury, offers all facilities and a big size pool setted in a wonderful garden. It is a five star property and to stay there is a delight. Once you moved in, you feel at home in seconds. There is so many little things to look at, as pictures, a new wonderful table in the living room, even photos, nicely placed by the owners, so you do feel so much home. Its the details, you can feel, it is made to make the people visiting happy!
The different terrasses are our favourite places and we never went to bed without a drink on the one in the first floor with the very comfortable sofa. To sit there in the silent of the evening, having, if you are lucky, a full moon evening, overlooking the sea ... is so wonderful! We can recommend this villa very much, it is one of our favourite places in world and we always come back. You wont miss anything when you come there and for those who might need, is also tv and wlan. As we said it is a real, wonderful, luxary, peaceful home. We love it!
Villa Tranquillity is a beautiful villa, It has lots of space to spread out in, and a large pool. It is in a very quiet location in the hills, but is also only a short drive from Kalkan. We also appreciated the villa being within walking distance of a good restaurant.
A beautiful large and exquisitely furnished villa in idyllic setting with huge springwater well maintained pool. booking process excellent - we felt we were going to the home of friends rather than an anonymous villa and when we arrived the homely touches and welcome from Guler and Harry the managers was brilliant but not intrusive. After over 20 years of villa holidays this one by far surpassed the others in all respects
If you need a 4 or 5 bed villa in the Kalkan area then book Villa Tranquillity! It has everything going for it.
You should be able to establish from the web site its impressive size, fabulous location and the fact that it has proper swimming pool. What you cant know is the "whow" factor when you open the front door. Or the fact that even the bed sheets are special and there is a excersise room on the top floor. These discoveries constanly appear through out the villa and add up to a really wonderful experience.
Kalkan and the surrounding area are beautiful but not as beautiful as this amazing villa. The area and views were out of this world and words can not describe the villa. It has been built and decorated to a very high standard and we all loved the pool. Eveyone was so very friendly, restaurants all very good and lots of places to see and explore. You must go into Kalkan at night for a meal at the Aubergine which looks over the harbour, very good food and excellent service. We will be back next year.
my family and i had the most wonderful holiday there are lots of beautiful places to go and we went to some of them,we want to go back next year and the year after that so we can go to the rest of them.my 12 year old daughter said she felt like a princess in that palace of a house (villa).we also swam with the dolfins, the people in kalkan are so friendly and helpful, the food and resturants are a delight, the local shops are good, markets are even better for fresh veg and fruit we made some lovely meals at the villa.our one neighbour was very kind and helpful we only had to ask.the whole place is so beautiful they really have thought of everthing so you can just chill out.I have to say next time we need to go for longer. Regards Nicole and family.
The villa was perfect. We had a great time and the villa is situated in a fantastic position, being a little up the mountains kept the temperature down a little and made for a wonderful stay.
The furniture and quality of the villa is one of the best that I have ever stayed in and it really does make a difference, the kids loved the fact that there was a tv and dvd player and they broke up some of the days. The pool is fantastic, it was a welcome relief to cool off from the hot sun and the fact that it is filled with the local spring water was fantastic. We have been to Turkey before, but found Kalkan and the villa the best places we have stayed. The views were incredible and the fact that the villa is situated a little out of the way, was superb, it was incredibly peaceful and incredibly relaxing.
The personal touches and photos you leave around the house reminded everyone that this was a home and I think made the villa an incredibly friendly place to stay.
If I were to return to Kalkan again, I would have no hesitation in renting the villa again, it was by far the best that we saw. Can I thank you very much for making our stay a memorable one and we are incredibly envious of your wonderful home.
I hope that we will get another opportunity to stay at Villa Tranqillity and thanks again for your hospitality.
This was our third visit to Turkey and this villa is by far the best we have found. The villa itself is beautiful with lots of thought and care gone into each room. Fantastic bedrooms with great views. We went as two families and there was just so much space for everyone. As for the surroundings -every day we looked from the villa to the views of the mountains around us and the sea below and couldn't believe just what a fantastic position this villa is in. It is also in a good location for lots of activities. During our week we canoed down the River Xanthos to the sea, hired a boat for a day, went to the Saklikent Gorge, went to Kalkan (10 mins away) to eat by the harbour, visited Lycean ruins at Xanthos and also enjoyed just staying at home relaxing by the pool and exploring the local villages. If we return to Turkey next year we would definitely rebook this villa - for 2 weeks!
I cannot reccommend this villa highly enough.
Everything from the gates to light fittings have been done to the highest standards.
It truly is the most beautiful villa, in the most stunning location, and I can't imagine there is anything else even close to this one anywhere on the coast.
From the moment you enter you feel at home, as there are so many personal touches, and it is also nice to gaze at the ornaments and curiosities that are placed here and there in the villa. Whether you are sunning youself by the expanse of the swimming pool, or taking refuge in the coolness of the villas archways, this villa begs you not to leave.
The views are truly breath-taking as you gaze down the mountain to the fishing village and harbour that is Kalkan, and to the islands beyond!
Spending a holiday here was like going to a health spa - sun, mountain air, fresh bread and produce from the nearby stores and bizarres - you go home feeling like a king!
I won't bother looking to better this one next year - just going to book again.

This property is a real treasure. It is a quiet and beautiful place, inside the mountains, with all facilities. There are so many things to do around (Patara, Kalkan, seaboat, butterfly valley, Saklikent, Kaputas, ...) that it is often difficult to choose between visiting and just relaxing by the swimming pool.
There are spacious and luxury rooms, a fully equiped kitchen, a splendid living room...and the table outside where we spent most dinners made us feel like princes !
Not to forget : the 3rd floor offers an incredible vew of the stars by night
The onner was extremely kind and helpful with us. He recommanded us lots of places to visit, restaurants, shops, markets, roads from the airport, ...
I cant help but recommand this villa !
The villa is beautiful - filled with lovely, local arts and treasures that make it feel both luxurious and homey. The facilities for cooking are good and we appreciated the ability to wash clothes. Guler was quite willing to help us get settled and familiar with the area.
The view is breathtaking and the grounds equally lovely. As mentioned by others, the road to Villa Tranquillity is twisty but we made it ok. We recommend getting a car. Restaurants in the area are excellent and there is so much to see and do in the area.
And a word about Turkey itself - its a great country. The people are friendly. The food is great, the shopping fun and good and the history and scenery compelling. More Americans should visit and stay at Villa Tranquillity!
We are back and I must say, THE VILLA WAS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!! More than we could ever have imagined... We were wowed, stunned, grateful and pleasantly surprised at every turn. Each day became richer and better. We loved having "our own home" and being able to cook. Villas clearly are the only way to travel. Our 5-star hotel in Istanbul was a huge disappointment after the villa. There is no way we could have known how much we would love villa-style-living and the ability to both be peaceful at home and then forage out to such wonderful sights (ruins at Patara were also amazing) when desired. So, thank you, thank you, thank you.
The villa itself is fabulous. Im sure everybody says that. We loved every bit of it, especially the pool, the terraces and the master bedroom and bath upstairs. Someone was kind enough to leave a couple of rafts under the downstairs stairs for our Extreme Pool Pleasure (great move! I hope they remain) and we did much of our dining al fresco under the sun, moon, and shameless swathe of creamy Milky Way which materialized nightly after the Moon had made her pass and just dazzled us to no end. The telescope on the middle terrace is a GREAT ADDITION.
We indulged in much star gazing and exploration of the mountain range to the south of the villa where there are ancient terraces which, we learned from Hasan, our most excellent host at the Bodamya Restaurant, the village folks used to take their animals to graze for nourishment and to keep them out of home gardens.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Saklikent Gorge. Hands down, fabulous. Only about an hour away. Reasonable. Awesome. Challenging. Lovely. And then delicious food and setting after making the trek into the mountains.
Tips or Restaurants:
Which brings us to the second most fabulous part of the whole thing, aside from the villa itself. The Bodamya Restaurant. Who knew the best food we would have in all of Turkey (including over a week of dining throughout Istanbul) would be within walking distance of the villa? We meandered over to the Bodamya (original name of the village now also known as Islamlar) many mornings and evenings to start and end our days and could not have been happier with the setting (idyllic, shady, breeze, views), service (Hasan was lovely and answered all the questions we accumulated each day about the local region and Turkish life in general, including much education from a villagers point of view about economics, politics, culture) AND food!!!! All fresh, delicious, surprising to the palate and super reasonable. Plus, the joy of meandering back to the villa under the balmy night sky after a delicious dinner and a glass of Raki cannot be beat. The restaurant made the villa seem far less "remote" than it would have otherwise. We were just wowed that it was so wonderful and /right there.
David, July, 2009
The villa is in a fantastic location, nice and quiet but with local restaurants and the town of Kalkan on the door step. Its the sort of place where its just nice to get up in the morning and look at the view from the mountains down to the sea. The villa itself is very nicely furnished inside and out and has everything you might need on a holiday, you really feel lucky to be there. There is a lots to do in the area to suit all tastes from nice beaches to ancient sites to adventure tourism. Well hopefully be going back again.
