About Kalkan
The historic town of Kalkan is situated on Turkey's gorgeous Lycian Coast and was once a simple Turkish/Greek fishing village. Today's Kalkan is quietly sophisticated and postcard pretty with a few good quality low-rise hotels and a multitude of excellent roof-top restaurants offering all manner of culinary delights, together with a good selection of of stylish and atmospheric blues and jazz bars. Unlike some other Turkish coastal resorts, Kalkan's main economy derives from tourism and consequently, its inhabitants put much effort and pride into the town's historic preservation. As a result of very strict building regulations and the efforts of the Kalkan Foundation, the town has retained its charm and special ambience. The wonderful hospitality of the Kalkan people is another reason why the first-time visitor invariably returns time after time.

The village shops stay open 'til around midnight and are well stocked with interesting antiques, crafts, jewellery, carpets and clothing. The narrow streets of the old town are lined with whitewashed shuttered buildings festooned with brightly coloured bouganvillea intermingled with shops and terrace-topped restaurants. These streets twist down to the harbour, which is the focus of the village and here you can enjoy a meal whilst watching the world go by or by looking at the array of elegant 'gulets'.

During the day, you can make use of one of the many 'beach clubs', visit the local market (Thursday) engage in some of the local sporting activities (such as water-skiing, parascending, scuba diving, trekking etc), take a trip to one of the historical sites or areas of natural beauty, drive a jeep up into the mountains, cruise on a gulet or simply relax by your pool.

'Villa Nefis is quite quite simply the best private villa we have ever rented. The photos do not do it justice. It is a very spacious very well cared for villa containing everything you could need. The pool was bliss but perhaps not for families with very small children as there is no shallow end, but for us it was perfect. It is far away enough from the centre to be peaceful yet near enough to shops and bars to be convenient. However, as mentioned on the website the walk up the hill is not for the faint hearted. In the end we resorted to Taxis which are plentiful, reliable and cheap. Kalkan is the nicest European holiday resort we have visited in a long time. It is still relatively small and retains character yet must have the largest selec tion of bars and restaurants we have ever seen. From the smallest bar to the poshest harbour restaurant all we got were warm welcomes, delicious food and great service. Palm Beach Club is great and Big Mabel is a must. The day trip to Siklakent Gorge was brilliant, after walking the gorge (take some old trainers it's hard on the feet) we went river rafting, then to a Trout farm (delicious) then to see the Roman Ruins all for about 㿂.00. A tiring day but well worth doing. For a more relaxing trip a day on a boat is fantastic. Stopping off for swimming in the warm sea and visiting small harbours. All in all we can't compliment Kalkan and its people enough. We real'y felt welcome and the people were so helpful and friendly. We will certainly be returning.' - Tracey L, Huddersfield, UK

'Our first trip to Turkey and Villa Nefis and we are already planning our 2010 return holiday. The owners have thought of everything - from the airport transfers to the wonderful pool man and his lovely wife. The village of Kalkan is a 15 min walk downhill but alot longer walking back so use the local taxis ٢ each way but well worth it.Excellent Villa - Excellent resort we will be back.' - Jan & Les from Leeds, UK

'We enjoyed a lovely 2 weeks at Villa Nefis in June/July 2009. The villa was excellent and in a quiet area, well equipped and clean with beautiful views over Kalkan bay. We spent many a lazy peaceful day by the pool which was well maintained and spotlessly clean. The 10ᆣ minute stroll into beautiful quaint Kalkan was enjoyable although a little tricky on the unmade roads surrounding the villa. The walk back sometimes quite strenuous in the heat - but taxis are cheap! Outdoor eating was fabulous at the villa and we enjoyed several barbeques, and also drinks in the evening before heading off into Kalkan to eat at the many superb restaurants. We voted our favourites as Nur, Coast at Gironda and Sofra, but we did not have a bad meal all holiday. Lovely friendly people providing us with excellent service.' - The Scotts & Edwards, Derby, UK

'Great Villa, nice swimming pool, beatiful views of the bay. Kalkan is only 10 minutes walk down hill all the way and taxis are easy to get for the return journey. Everything as described.Kalkan is lovely, had a good rest and relax.' - Julia H, Cheshire, UK

'We has a fantastic stay at Villa Nefis. It surpassed all our expectations in terms of cleanliness and comfort. The view from the pool and terrace was amazing and restaurants in Kalkan are amongst the best we have experienced in Turkey. We would definately recommend this villa for a wonderful relaxing holiday.' Ray & Sandra H, Orpington, Kent, UK

'We had a fantastic holiday in Villa Nefis, Kalkan. Everything was just as the owner had described. The villa was perfect and really close to Kalkan which had a good range of shops and restaurants and was within walking distance of the villa. The town beach was lovely as were the other beaches which we travelled to with the hire car. The area has a lot to do for adults and children and is very safe 񢉗). The villa is cleaned regularly and the couple responsible are very unobtrusive but are willing to help if you need it.The views are fantastic 񢉗) and I would highly recommend this villa as the perfect place to go for a realxing break.' Ruth S & Family, Swansea, UK

'The Villa Nefis, Kalkan is a lovely place to stay. The facilities were great and the pool was superb with fantastic views across the bay.The Turkish people were warm and friendly and Kalkan and its surrounding area has much to offer. A must place to visit, we can't wait to go back.' - Liz from Berkshire, UK

"I just wanted to pass on my comments about the villa and thank you for making everything go so smoothly. Could you please also pass my sincere thanks to Sue who also did a great job in looking after us. We had an absolutely fantastic time in Kalkan and now back home we are trying to think of things we can do to sustain a living out there! We made a lot of friends including a lovely little cat and big soppy dog who adopted us for the week. The villa is beautiful and was exactly as in the pictures which is very rare. I only wish now we had booked two weeks - next time. We will certainly be staying at Nefis again as we found the peaceful location with such a beautiful view just right and the walk up the hill to the villa made you appreciate lounging around at the top! We did a lot of that! Thanks once again. Look forward to contacting you very soon with our next booking!" - Sarah & Partner, Essex, UK - 22nd May 2006

"Just wanted to drop you a line and say how wonderful the Villa Nefis is!! We had a fantastic time in Kalkan, friendly people, lovely food, constant sunshine.
