Villa overview - owner's description
Encircled with an enviable panoramic view of the Lycian coastline, four-bedroomed Villa Kartal is an exciting holiday choice. The luxury villa boasts a large outdoor infinity pool, serene spa-like indoor swimming pool and a roof-top Jacuzzi! Oh, and did we mention there's a gym and a sauna too.
To say that is villa is spacious is an understatement. It's spread across three magnificent floors with plenty of relaxing space inside and on the three terraces. On the top level, the roof terrace wins our vote. Whether you're unwinding in the Jacuzzi bathtub, sun basking on a comfy lounger or enjoying your evening dinner al fresco on the seating area, you can enjoy those spectacular rural views and sunsets across Patara Beach. We must give an honourable mention to the pool terrace with a chic shaded spot and cushioned day beds draped with voile curtains too. By night, the area lights up for a romantic setting.
With floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors in nearly every room, the property has truly been designed to maximise those breath-taking views. There's an open-plan living and kitchen area with sumptuous sofas, a wall-mounted television all the modern equipment you'll need for eating in. Central Kalkan is five minutes away by car for picking up your fresh produce. Or, if you'd prefer to eat out (we recommend that you do), there are top local roof-top and waterfront restaurants in the town too.
From the lower ground floor, a staircase rises to the next level with a master suite and a second double bedroom that shares a balcony running the width of the property. Furnished with built-in storage and extra touches like artwork and mirrors, the bedrooms feel homely. The two further en-suite bedrooms – a double and a twin – are on the second floor, and both have sea-view balconies. The villa sleeps eight in beds but can sleep an additional two people on sofa beds.
With the beach within a short drive, as well as Kalkan's picturesque harbour, quaint old streets and vibrant markets, you're well placed to discover more of this magical part of Turkey.

Villa Kartal is a short five-minute drive from central Kalkan on Turkey's turquoise coast. It's beautiful natural surrounds include trees and mountains and a sweeping bay. This stunning town is renowned for its beautiful boat-lined harbour, golden sandy beaches and top-notch roof-top restaurants. It also has sense-tantalising markets selling everything from hand-crafted traditional Turkish rugs (kilims) to fresh produce, spices and jewellery, and top-notch waterfront and rooftop restaurants.
Spend afternoons exploring the narrow streets with classic whitewashed houses draped in pretty flowers, stopping off for a refreshing cold coffee or tasty lunch at one of the cafes. Look for a spot that's up high or on the roof to really make the most of those views. To experience Kalkan from another perspective, traditional wooden gullet leave the harbour and take you around the coves and bays. Some stop for swimming and snorkelling and provide a classic barbeque lunch.
For days spent on the beach, there's a sandy spot in Kalkan centre or you could drive to Kaputas Beach with crystal-clear waters or Patara Beach, a long stretch of shoreline that's also a National Park with amazing ruins of the Lycian city. With day beach clubs scattered around Kalkan, there are plenty of opportunities to take part in water sports like sea kayaking and parasailing. You could also book a scuba diving trip to reach the more remote places. Kekova island with part-sunken ruins of an ancient town which was destroyed by an earthquake makes for an exciting excursion. To get there, join a boat trip from Kas.
Kas also has the impressive ancient site of Antiphellos, with still-visible Lycian ruins including a theatre. For more fun day trips, you could head to the seaside resort town of Fethiye, a one-hour drive away. It has plenty of traditional restaurants, shops and fascinating cultural sites too.
