Villa overview - owner's description

Villa Dolluca is situated in a quiet location overlooking the picturesque village of Kalkan on Turkey's Mediterranean coast.

Villa Dolluca is a stylishly furnished villa in a tranquil and elevated position offering breathtaking views of picturesque Kalkan bay and of the surrounding Taurus Mountains. The villas's owners have given great attention to detail in finishing Villa Dolluca (they use it as their winter home) and as a result, we have had excellent feedback from previous guests.

The ground floor consists of an open plan living area (with x 2 sofa/day beds, CD Player, Satellite TV) / dining area / fully fitted kitchen (including microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer). There is a seperate WC on this floor and access to the pool and terrace area.

A spiral staircase leads to the first floor which contains two double bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite bathroom and the other has an adjacent bathroom. The master bedroom has a hairdryer. Both bedrooms have access to a terrace-style balcony with magnificent views of the sea, village and mountains. It is possible to add an extra bed to either of the double bedrooms (suitable for children).

Outdoors, there is a large freshwater pool, terrace area with dining table and pool furniture, together with a stone built barbeque.

Please note that the villa is accessed by a number of descending steps which might pose problems for people with walking difficulties.

Welcome pack is provided on arrival
Pool towels are provided for guests' use
This property has a security alarm system

About Kalkan
The historic town of Kalkan is situated on Turkey's gorgeous Lycian Coast and was once a simple Turkish/Greek fishing village. Today's Kalkan is quietly sophisticated and postcard pretty with a few good quality low-rise hotels and a multitude of excellent roof-top restaurants offering all manner of culinary delights, together with a good selection of of stylish and atmospheric blues and jazz bars. Unlike some other Turkish coastal resorts, Kalkan's main economy derives from tourism and consequently, its inhabitants put much effort and pride into the town's historic preservation. As a result of very strict building regulations and the efforts of the Kalkan Foundation, the town has retained its charm and special ambience. The wonderful hospitality of the Kalkan people is another reason why the first-time visitor invariably returns time after time.

The village shops stay open 'til around midnight and are well stocked with interesting antiques, crafts, jewellery, carpets and clothing. The narrow streets of the old town are lined with whitewashed shuttered buildings festooned with brightly coloured bouganvillea intermingled with shops and terrace-topped restaurants. These streets twist down to the harbour, which is the focus of the village and here you can enjoy a meal whilst watching the world go by or by looking at the array of elegant 'gulets'.

During the day, you can make use of one of the many 'beach clubs', visit the local market (Thursday) engage in some of the local sporting activities (such as water-skiing, parascending, scuba diving, trekking etc), take a trip to one of the historical sites or areas of natural beauty, drive a jeep up into the mountains, cruise on a gulet or simply relax by your pool.

May 2008
We have just returned from 2 weeks in Katie's cottage where we were very well looked after by Eva and Guiseppe!
It is true that a car is essential to see all of the island but the cttage is ideally located for a peaceful , away from it all holiday.
We hired a car for 3 days each at the beginning and end of our holiday so we could see the whole island and find some nice tavernas.
However we also enjoyed the full week in between where we walked daily to the cove exactly as shown in the pic and less than 2kms away and spent quiet evenings sitting in the garden area. Bliss!

A nice cabin with all the neccesary things. Nice quiet enviroment. The picture suggests a secluded cabin, but it is good to know that the owners house is within 4 meter from the livingroom. So a vieuw is nothing but a white house, wich was rather disappointing
To find a beach you have to go about 3km. There are lovely fishes to catch there.

Having read all the reviews about this villa and the town of Kalkan we decided to book, but youre never quite sure youve done the right thing until you arrive. we had nothing to worry about. The pre booked taxi journey to Kalkan was actually a pleasure and on arrival at the villa we realised that the photos dont really do the villa justice and the views have to be seen to be believed. Kalkan is a wonderful place with lots of great restaurants and interesting shops. The people are warm and welcoming, the May weather hot but comfortable and we have simply had the best holiday ever. Highly recommended.

Excellent property! Kalkan is a lovely place! Was further away from the centre of Kalkan than we anticipated but we used the local taxi firm at quite cheap prices. The villa was exactly how it looks in the photos including the stunning view! Used all the kitchen facilities and the bbq and had no problems! The only 2 very slight problems we had was that we couldnt find the light switch for the pool and we had an ant infestation every morning in the kitchen when we came downstairs. But it was a truly fabulous place which I have already recommended to people!

We had thought of keeping this a secret, worried that we might make this too popular. However, that wouldnt be fair.

This Villa is simply lovely, with breathtaking views and everything you would need for the perfect holiday. We spent long evenings by the pool watching the sunset and looking down across the sea. Everyone associated with the Villa is delightful, the pool man, the agents and taxi drivers.

Kalkan is just about perfect, wonderful people, great restaurants, lots to do and see, but still remarkably unspoilt.

Thanks to everyone who made our holiday so perfect.

'Beautiful, friendly town. The villa was wonderfully appointed with everything needed to make a relaxed vacation. The views from the villa were beautiful. We would highly recommend Villa Dolluca!' - Kelli S, Pittsburgh, USA

'This is the second year running that I've ventured to Villa Dolluca, having been so impressed the first time I went in May 2008. Kalkan is a lovely town with quaint cobbled paths with many shops and restaurants, but has an air of calmness about it.The journey to Kalkan is straightforward, thanks to the new road that's been built and on arrival at Villa Dolluca, you're greeted with a welcome pack of tea/ coffee, juice, milk, cheese, bread etc ... just enough to make yourself a cup of tea and a cheese toastie whilst you settle in.The villa itself is set on the hill overlooking the town and marina and looks out to sea - such a great view and extremely peaceful as well. It's well equipped and spacious inside and poolside with loungers, tables and a pool man who comes daily (who we never saw this year). The villa is comfortable, has plenty of seating, is well set out and there's lots of english speaking tv channels as well as a dvd and cd player (should you not venture out).Of course the weather is hot in May, so it's a great place to read and totally relax by the pool, but there's also a lot to see if you want to explore the local area. Villa Dolluca has now become a yearly holiday for me and hope to be heading back in 2010.' Fiona D, London, UK

'Villa Dolluca is the best villa we have ever stayed in. The situation is delightful with views down to the sea.The villa has an attractive layout and is well furnished. The pool is a good size in a pleasant situation with plenty of space to relax in and eat outside. The property is well looked after, and a car to and from the airport can be arranged and makes a relaxing start and finish to the holiday.' - Peter and Anne C, Somerset, UK

'I've just spent a fantastic week at Villa Dolluca with my husband and parents. The four of us loved the villa, with its panoramic views over the bay, stylish decor and great layout. There's space for everyone, somewhere to sunbathe at all times of the day, shade if you need it and a great balcony. It's lovely waking up and looking straight out over the bay to the sea. Everything you could need is there and the property is well maintained - air conditioning in all rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds and spacious rooms, plenty of cupboard and drawer space. But these seem small things compared to the overall feeling of relaxation that comes from being in this truly special place. I've been to Kalkan before and adored it - and I think this is a great place to stay here. It's not right in the town so it feels quiet and private which I love, but is only a short drive down to the beach, shops and restaurants when you want them. Or you can walk to the little shop and pancake house down the road. I loved the fact that, although you're not far from everything, you didn't feel too surrounded by other tourists etc - and I liked looking over at the little Turkish houses to the left, with the goats wandering on the hillside.I only wish I could've stayed longer - we're definitely going for two weeks next time! I plan to stay here again.' - Hannah, Exeter, UK

'My family spent a wonderful week in this beautiful, stylish villa. The villa exceeded our expectations and provided us with stunning views, comfort, spacious and effortless living. The villa is well equipped and despite never having been to Turkey before we managed to barbecue in the beautiful outdoor area by the pool and were seduced by the velvety evenings with the call to prayer echoing across the town. We thoroughly recommend the Villa and the beautiful town of Kalkan.' - Pam S, Wimbledon, London, UK

'My partner, myself and two teenage children spent a glorious week in this property. Having the facility to come and go as we please, eat in or out was fantastic. The villa is positioned within easy walking distance of the town and is in a quiet location. The views fom the villa are fantastic, especially that from the main bedroom which is virtually a glass wall. Watching the sun set late at night whilst dipping toes in the pool - heaven! The pool was fantastic and cleaned every day. Starting a new day with a dip was great. The villa itself was clean, spacious and comfortable. We had a fantastic week and wished we had booked it for longer! Highly recommended'. Beck & Family, Kent, UK

'Villa Dolluca and Kalkan were even more beautiful than the pictures on the website. One of my fondest memories of our Kalkan trip is the view from the patio both day and night. The villa was very private, safe and clean. The owner was also very helpful and prompt with any email questions I had. My husband and I hope to come back someday'. Tressa M, Arkansas, USA

'We have been very fortunate to stay at Villa Dolluca twice 񢉗 and2009) and can highly recommend this property and its location to anyone seeking comfortable accomodation, with truely breathtaking views in an unspoilt area of Turkey. With everything required to make a home from home, Villa Dolluca is ideal for those looking for peace and quite during the day, with easy access to Kalkan, what can only be described as the "foodie capital" of Turkey, during the evenings. The management team are also excellent, with every requirement taken care of throughout your stay'. - Ian and Emma J, Prestatyn, Wales

"Just back yesterday and wanted to say thank you very much for a wonderful holiday. The villa is superb and Kalkan is lovely. All the arrangements made by you ie the car hire and your local agent, ran like clockwork and made for a very relaxing week away. Will definitely be in touch re booking the villa again. Once again many thanks - Rob Metcalfe, East Sussex, UK (May 2006)"

"My husband and I booked this holiday to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary. We wanted to visit a country that we had not been to before and we certainly made the right choice. Villa Dolluca is beautiful - the view is stunning and Kalkan is wonderful. We could not believe how kind and friendly the people of Kalkan are and the weather was kind to us so early in the year. We will certainly return, many thanks. Beryl & Dave - North Yorkshire (April 2006)"

"Many thanks for a truly memorable stay. The villa was excellent, really nicely decorated and a lovely terrace area & pool. The view of the ocean whilst swimming in the pool was stunning! Was also a bonus having satellite TV, DVD Player & Stereo!! We had a fantastic time and it was really hard having to leave! Natalie - London, UK (September 2005)"

"Just a quick note to tell you what a fanstastic time we had in Kalkan. The villa was excellent and the pool very welcoming in the August temperatures! The service offered by Colin was also first rate. Food was great and the people very friendly. The high point was the Thursday market which went down a bomb with the kids! And who could beat Patara beach? We will certainly be in touch for next year if the villa is available. Thanks Mike & Paula Connor - Charlesworth, UK (August/September 2004)"

"We have just returned from Kalkan and just wanted to say what a lovely time we had at Villa Dolluca - you have a very beautiful villa with stunning views - we enjoyed our time there enormously. I can't sing its praises enough - we have stayed in villas all over the world & this is certainly top of the list. Avril Kellett - Surbiton, UK (August 2004)"

"Just a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed Villa Dolluca. The facilities were fantastic and the views were breathtaking. Little touches like the CD player and the alarm clock were very much appreciated and the décor was very tasteful. Colin, his wife and the cleaners were very helpful without being intrusive and though we were there just for 7 days, we were made to feel at home.We really enjoyed the area but one week just was not enough and if you are renting out the villa again next year we would certainly consider returning. Once again thankyou for letting us use your villa.Kind regards, Colin, Beth, Matthew and Jessica Nesbeth - Bath, UK (August 2004)""We have just returned from Kalkan and just wanted to say what a lovely time we had at Villa Dolluca - you have a very beautiful villa with stunning views - we enjoyed our time there enormously.
