Villa overview - owner's description
Contemporary four-bedroomed Villa Bartu is a luxury haven a few minutes walk from Kalkan's cobbled streets. Tucked away on the hillside on Turkey's serene Turquoise Coast, it's a stylish and spacious villa with plenty of privacy and beautiful panoramic views across the bay. Modern minimalism and classic Mediterranean features rule indoors and out: the clean lines, whitewashed walls and floor-to-ceiling windows and doors are all the better to target your focus on the gasp-worthy sunsets.
The characterful building is made from beautiful local stone and is surrounded by a mature garden with several olive trees and fragrant native plants, set against a backdrop of the majestic Taurus Mountains. The villa is arranged across three floors, and there's a balcony extending the entire width of the property so you can wake up to those idyllic seafront vistas and tranquil blue hues.
There's an open-plan living area with a fully-equipped kitchen and dining table, alongside a separate TV room and cloakroom. Glass doors from the living area open up to the pool and dining terrace beyond, bringing in lots of natural light. Three comfortable bedrooms are in the central part of the property, and there's fourth on the lower ground floor with a small kitchen and dining space.
The main stand out feature is one of the en-suites with a deep soak stand-alone bath, perfectly positioned to take advantage of the wonderful views. Outside, there's also a sunken swim-up bar with submerged bar stools, and plenty of space to sunbathe or relax with a good book in the shade. In the evening, dine al fresco on the terrace with lanterns and candles creating a romantic ambience.
Villa Bartu is just a short 10-minute walk from Kalkan's old town, beach and harbour. There you can dine at one of the vibrant waterfront restaurants, browse the quaint boutiques, shops and bazaars or take in the historic sites. From the villa you only have to walk 200m and you are in the centre of Kalkan, easy for restaurants and shopping. Kalkan's harbour and pebble beach are a 1 km downhill walk, which may make you feel a taxi up is a better idea after a tough day in the sun.
In Kalkan's centre, a short walk from the villa, you'll find vibrant roof top restaurants, quaint boutiques and cocktail bars. The town sits on the Turkish Mediterranean coast and has a backdrop of the stunning pine tree-lined Taurus Mountains. At Kalkan's weekly market you can pick up everything from fresh produce to handmade souvenirs. Later you could visit a traditional Turkish bath for a relaxing massage or have lunch at one of the many beach clubs. By night there's the charming cobbled streets of Kalkan, where you can wander the whitewashed streets and visit the quirky shops and boutiques, dining at one of many rooftop restaurants underneath the twinkling stars.
For outdoor adventuring , the Taurus Mountains can be explored via the popular Lycian Way – a trail that traverses the coast from Kayakoy to Antalya. Kalkan Bus Station is within walking distance of the villa – for venturing further afield to nearby places like Patara, Xanthos or Saklikent Gorge. You can book days out such as exploring the 'sunken city' of Kekova by boat, canoeing or horseriding on Patara's sandy beach. There are also plenty of swimming beaches in and near Kalkan including Kaputas Beach ideal places to swim and snorkel or Patara, which has 12km of sandy beach. You can also take part in water sports like scuba diving, jet skiing or take a boat trip on a Turkish Gulet, stopping in various bays and enjoying a hearty lunch cooked on board, experiencing the full beauty of the coast.
If it gets too hot in Kalkan, escape up to the mountains and enjoy a trout lunch, fried village cheese and the freshest of rocket in one of Islamlar's many restaurants.
