Villa Callisto is an outstanding 3 bedroom villa in a spectacular bay 2 mins walk from sandy beach and restaurants. Fabulous sea view and swimming pool.
Villa Callisto is a well equipped and sumptuous villa comfortably catering for 6 people in 3 bedrooms or 8 people using a sofa bed in the lounge.
The lounge opens out onto a patio by means of large corner sliding doors and offers a fabulous view of the bay of Kucukbuk.
The area can be cooled by means of a ceiling fan or a second outside door which allows a breeze to flow through. A dining table in the lounge seats 6 and can be extended further if necessary. Another 6 seater dining table on the patio makes outdoor eating an easy option. The lounge also sports a sofa-bed corner unit which can sleep a further 2 guests
A separate kitchen serves the lounge by means of a serving hatch and contains an oven with hob, large fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle and a full set of crockery, cutlery and essential utensils. The ground floor also features a twin bedroom, separate toilet and washing machine.
A round stairwell leads up to the first floor where the master bedroom offers a magnificent sea view by means of the same style patio doors as the lounge which lead onto a balcony. An en suite bathroom features a large shower, hand basin and toilet.
The hallway leads to the main bathroom, very spacious and offering a jacuzzi with shower, large mirrored basin with drawers, and toilet.
A third bedroom features a double bed with access to the first floor balcony. A full set of towels and linen is provided for all rooms.
The stairs continue up to the roof terrace which offers a fabulous view of the sea, the beach and whole Kucukbuk bay area.
The terrace is partly sheltered and well-furnished with tables and chairs, sun loungers and soft cushions. Bar stools align a work surface with sink and bar area.
The villa directly overlooks the pool to which it has easy access.
The pool is large and shallow in all areas (c. 1.6 metres).
There is a separate paddling area for young children.
The villa is on a site of 12 villas and has its own parking space
near the entrance to the site. A site manager lives within the grounds and is available to help
with any queries.
The villa is located just a five minute walk from the beach in the beautiful bay of Kucukbuk (meaning literally "little bay" and pronounced "koo-chook-book" except the "oo" sound should be short like a "u"). Despite new villas having been recently built in the area, sites are still separated sparsely enough to show plenty of natural greenery. The beach is sandy and has several restaurants which, in the evening allow you to dine on the beach or on the wooden jetties which protrude into the sea.
Kucukbuk is on the outskirts of the larger bay and village of Gundogan (pronounced "Goon-dhwan"). Gundogan is a 20 walk or 5 min drive and offers a greater selection of restaurants and shops, within a larger bay. Despite this, the village is largely unspoilt and has a rural feel with locals herding their cows through the streets and selling their home grown produce. Seafood is a speciality on the waterside restaurants and you will often see local fishermen selling their catches of the day directly to the restaurants. Gundogan also caters for many watersports such as sailing and windsurfing, and boat trips operate from here visiting local islands and bays further along the coast. (You can arrange to have them pick you up at Kucukbuk if you ask.)
Yalikavak is a 15 minute drive away and offers a good shopping street, a marina, beach, bars and restaurants. On the road between Gundogan and Yalikavak are two major supermarkets, Gima and Migros, where you can stock up on provisions.
At Ortakent (half-way between Yalikavak and Bodrum) is a large water park. It is opposite the KIPA hypermarket which is part of the Tesco chain and sells many well known Tesco products as well as local and international brands. Gumbet and Bodrum are only 30 minutes away for those want the busy night life and bustling resorts.
Also look out for the markets, typically the Turgutreis one on Saturdays. Yalikavak is usually on Thurdays and Gundogan on Wednesdays. There are no fixed prices so don't forget to haggle.
Hiring a car is the easiest way to get around, but you can manage without one. If you're staying for a few weeks you may like to save some money and shed the car for some of the time and use the local dolmas, or mini-bus service, which operates cheaply and efficiently throughout the peninsula. Yellow taxis are good for short journeys but can add up a bit on longer ones. Many people hitch around the area and it is not uncommon for lifts to be offered by drivers who are going the same way as you.
The property was very clean and well equipped - the caretaker did an excellent job throughout and was very helpful to us on our last day. The views from the balconies were stunning and the roof terrace was a brilliant place to spend the evenings. Some details regarding local restaurants and shops may have been helpful as we took a few days to find the local corner shop attached to one of the bars and couldnt get to eat at one of the pontoon restaurants as we hadnt booked. But that said - a great location for a quiet relaxing holiday.
Villa was better looking than its pictures , property manager Alex was very helpfull , he did work very hard to please our stay !! it was looking dreamy and very confortable ! thanks for a great vacation !
Beautiful location, easy to find and plenty to do but car hire is a must. Have loads of memories and would definately consider returning with a larger group of people!

Villa callisto is spacious, beautiful, clean and in a lovely setting. The gardens are lovely and the views stunning. The pool is large and well maintained. Iskender the caretaker was lovely and extremely helpful. He maintains the complex to a high standard with the beautiful flowers and shrubs. I speak quite a bit of Turkish , so it is no problem for me. However, Iskender speaks quite a bit of English, so there are no fears. We were helping each other extend our skills! In many other places the caretakers speak very little English. The villa is in an ideal position for both Kucukbuk and Gundogan, as regards beaches, supplies and restaurants and the local dolmush minibuses]. We had a lovely time. Thank you

The villa was clean and cool despite temperatures in excess of 40 degrees. Alex looked after us very well with any queries.Would suggest instructions to operate the oven would be helpful. We also would have preferred the curtains to block out more light at night but that is obviously a personal matter and not important to everyone. It did not spoil our holiday, we had a wonderful time. The villa is so well positioned for easy access to the beach and restaurants of Kucukubuk and only a 15 minute beautiful walk to the slightly larger Gundogan. We ate meze and fresh fish at restaurants on terraces built in the sea and had great fun on a boat hired in Gundogan which picked us up from Kucukubuk. This spot is very Turkish,it was great not too see an English newspaper and to experience a different way of life. Fantastic!

Dear Sandra and Mike, I just wanted to say thank you on behalf of everyone in our party for having us to stay at your villa. We had a super time. The villa was lovely, well-located, and great to have the pool on the seaside on our doorstep. We loved Turkey and thoroughly enjoyed the people and the places we visited. 40 degree heat was right up my street having being deprived of decent heat for the last 9 years in London! Many thanks again and kind regards, Irene Allen
