Villa Adakani (Ada Kani derived from Turkish words meaning view of the Islands)
The Villa is situated in one of the most idyllic locations on the Bodrum Peninsula. Built on the hillside with views over Cukurbuk Bay, Gumusluk and the Greek Islands of Kos, Kalimnos and Leros, it is a property ideal for those seeking a location with breathtaking views that constantly change as the day progresses.
Part of an attractive hillside village development called Karya Evleri, the villa has been designed to integrate fully with the surrounding olive groves complete with landscaped gardens and terraces all looking towards the sea and the islands.
Situated about 3 miles away from the well-known fishing village of Gümüslük, and about 5 miles to both Turgutreis and Yalikavak. Bodrum is about 15 miles away and can be reached by car in about 30 minutes. The villa is ideally placed for those who would like to explore the Bodrum Peninsula, with all resorts being accessible within an hours drive. The local bus service (dolmus) is probably the best that you could find in any country and relies on a frequent minibus service with pick-up times in peak periods being every 15-20 minutes. If you are not using a car, then a 5 minute walk will take you to the nearest supermarket and dolmus stop and from there you can catch buses to Bodrum & Yalikavak or get off In Gümüslük. In Gümüslük there is a further connection to Turgutreis and also a taxi rank for travel elsewhere. In Bodrum, a large bus station provides transport to practically every area within turkey and here you can get on the large air-conditioned inter city buses which travel to places like Izmir and Istanbul.
A 15 minute walk will take you from the villa down to the small public beach and waterfront area with access to sun beds, parasols, bathing huts, exercise equipment and childrens playground. Here there is also a cafe bar providing refreshments.
A ten minute walk to a new large well-stocked supermarket should provide all the provisions necessary for your stay.
If you like walking then a 40 minute stroll (along the beach) from the villa will take you to the nearby bay of Gumusluk with its amazing waterfront restaurants, quaint harbour with visiting yachts and relaxed bathing.

Facilities inside the villa
The Inside of the villa has been furnished in a modern style with many home comforts provided. There is a CD player / stereo radio system in the kitchen area and a full size TV with attached DVD player. A Hotbird Satellite system is also installed giving access to a few hundred European and Asian channels. There is also a growing library of music CDs and film DVDs which are provided for those rare occasions when you might want to sit inside. There is also a further TV which can be found in the master bedroom and is connected to a DVD player.
On the upstairs landing there is a PC computer workstation complete with Win XP, USB2 ports, CD Writer and colour printer. A good selection of software has also been provided including MS Office , Autoroute Europe, Paint Shop Pro and many other programmes. Free Internet access is also available on this computer along with a pre-paid Skype account to landlines in Europe.
Although there is no telephone provided, most people nowadays pack a mobile phone. The mobile telephone reception at the villa is very good and is impressive throughout the peninsula. (nearby Greek mobile phone networks can be used to save costs)
A Wi-Fi network is also installed on site and guests can take advantage of Internet access if they bring their own laptops.

The fitted kitchen has a good selection of cupboards with all the utensils, crockery and accessories needed to accommodate a family of eight. Cooking is all electric with two hotplates and a combination grill / oven with an extractor hood mounted above, a microwave oven and toaster. A large fridge freezer has plenty of room to cater for the chilled drinks and salads which will become an important part of your diet. There is also a chilled water dispenser which is invaluable for the summer months. An automatic washing machine, ironing board, iron and vacuum cleaner are also provided for your use along with a selection of adjustable fans to use throughout the villa and can be moved from room to room as the need arises. All three upstairs bedrooms are also fitted with air-conditioning units to further aid your comfort during the summer months.

The property comprises three double bedrooms, two bathrooms ,one on each floor, one with a fitted shower cubicle and the other wih a full-size bath with shower above. There is a fitted kitchen with fridge-freezer, automatic washing machine, grill / oven, double hob hotplates, and breakfast bar. A large lounge has an open fireplace with L-shaped seating unit, dining area with table and six chairs, large TV with satellite feed and DVD player. The downstairs covered terraced area is enclosed with a wrought iron surround and features a large patio table with 8 chairs and barbeque oven. The upstairs open terrace features superb views down to the beach and jetty with sun loungers, and a wooden built-in cushioned seating unit to laze away the hours.
The shared swimming pool is only a minutes walk away and is usually open from May to mid October. The automatic pool-maintenance system is continually operational (no shut-down period) with the advantage that the pool is open and accessible from early morning up until late at night with the evenings having underwater floodlights. There is also a small kiddies paddling pool area attached. Sun loungers and parasols are provided with a pool-side bar providing snacks and drinks during the summer months.

Useful Information
A CAR is recommended although not essential. This part of the peninsular is generally quite easy for driving as the roads are not very busy (even in the summer months) and there are so many places to explore. The Bus stop is only a 10 minute walk and the services are very regular. Also by the bus stop there is a well stocked supermarket selling everything that you will need for your stay. The on-site staff however will deliver bread and change over the large water containers on a daily basis if needed. As the villa is situated in an elevated position many of the walkways down to the beach & waterfront involve navigating a series of zigzag paths and steps. This is usually not a problem for most people but would not suit the elderly or anyone with walking difficulties. (if not using a car). The villa may also be unsuitable for very young children if unsupervised due to the unfenced high walls in the vicinity and also the top terrace in the villa which has a seating unit built into a high wall.
When making an initial booking we will confirm your booking request and then hold it for SEVEN DAYS without payment. During this time you can search around for the best flight deals. Only when you have confirmed your flights do you then need to process your deposit. As we are flexible about changeover days please email us for further details on changeover times if your required day of arrival coincides with a previous guests departure.
Although the villa is classed as non-smoking we do allow smoking to take place in the outside terrace areas which are well ventilated. This way we ensure complete satisfaction for all our guests.

We had a very relaxing two weeks at the villa and throughly enjoyed our holiday and did not want to leave. The villa was very well equipped and contained everything you could possibly need during your stay. It was also very well decorated throughout with lots of homely touches. We enjoyed many evening meals in the villa ( we even managed to catch a fish in the local bay which we barbequed) as well as having many lovely meals in near by restaurants.
The pool was very clean and relitavely quiet considering it was peak season. The views from the pool and the villa are simply breath taking and opening the doors in the morning was a real treat.
The information provided by cliff was extremly helpful and whilst he recommened a car we chose not to hire one as none of us really wanted to drive. We are all relatively fit and so carrying the shopping back from the super market ( which was very well stocked ) was not a problem for us and the dolmus ran frequently enabling us to visit all the surrounding areas. We also found some restaurants were willing to offer a free shuttle service. If you are happy to drive however a car would be very useful and we did find that the roads were quiet in contrast to our previous experience in other areas of Turkey.
There were 4 adults and two children in our party and we would all recommend the villa and this area of Turkey.

From London, United Kingdom Jul 2013

The property was lovely and I am sure if you are from the UK then it would be perfect. The view was incredible, the pool was very nice (despite a few noisy kids) and the villa was fine, in fact pretty nice really. It was very clean and tidy.

The negatives were that the villa was very hard to access because there is a maze of very steep narrow roads leading to it. We arrived late at night and the gate was locked, I speak Turkish so i was able to get the code by calling the phone no on the booth. But the road that we were supposed to go down based on the directions from the owner was blocked off (they were digging it up) so we had difficulties finding the villa in the steep maze.

The other niggle is that all houses in Turkey have nets on the windows because of the mosquitos. This house does not so there is a mosquito problem unless you close all the windows after 6pm and dont open them again until the morning, which is fine if you dont mind air conditioning. Personally I dont like air conditioning so I went to Migros and bought some temporary netting for the window in the bedroom which solved the problem. Its not expensive for the owner to put netting on the windows and as someone that lives in Turkey and knows it very well I would recommend that he does so.

Despite these issues we had a very pleasant holiday so thanks very much to Cliff for allowing us to book at the last minute.

Unfortunately there were some temporary road works (which are popular in this part of Turkey) which at this time caused a small diversion through a neighbouring site. We have no control over this sort of work and during the evening would have made access a little bit more difficult. The neighbouring site had also installed a security code without informing all property owners and hence the reason for obtaining a code. This has all been sorted out now and is back to normal. We had also decided not to install mosquito nets as we think that it deters from the spectacular views afforded from the bedrooms. There are however net-type curtains which can be utilised on the inside of the open windows if necessary. Portable fans and air-conditioning however usually are satisfactory for the majority of our guests.Despite these issues we are glad that you had a pleasant stay.

We were impressed with everything about the property. From first contact the owners were outstandingly helpful, with information provided of an excellent standard. Emails were always answered immediately in a pleasant and friendly manner.
Over the years we have rented several properties in various parts of Europe, and this was the best..It was obvious that the owners really care about the quality of the holiday that their guests have. Fittings, decor and facilities were of a uniformly thoughtful and high standard.
Importantly for us, coming from the other side of the world, was to find that the property was exactly as described. Except that it was better! Would that this was always the case...........
Thank you Cliff. We had a lovely time.

The property is nice with all you need.If you do not rent a car you need to be pretty fit to handle the steps and get to the bus stop though buses to Gumusluk are frequent.
Also the shop is a good walk in the hot weather so you need to buy what you need when in Gumusluk as no quick popping to the shops.
Though lots of info and help from the owner who had adviced that a car would make life easier.
The Villa has nice views is clean with comfy beds, and has a well stocked kitchen.Pool area is clean with a sml bar that servres drinks and sandwiches that are not expensive.

Alan & Gill, Surrey, UK: August 2012 A great villa in a fantastic location. Everything was exactly as described! lots of very helpful information from Cliff. The pool is lovely, always clean and plenty of sun beds and shades. Mixed experiences at restaurants but Victorias (on way to Gumusluk) was our favourite - beautiful location, good food and reasonably priced.

John & Jenny Poole : June 2006When a holiday is full of highlights, where do you begin? Villa Adakani is the perfect location, location, location! Everyday from morning to night you overlook the Aegean, across lovely blue sea to the Greek Islands. Where else can you sleep at night in almost silence, or go to a private beach area almost uninhabited. Yet 5 minutes walk to the local bus stop and a 5 minute ride and you arrive in the tranquil fishing village of Gumusluk with its fantastic fish restaurants. So much more to say, so much more to do, please can we come back for more?

Kelly & Jim Emery: July 2005Excellent Holiday and Excellent Villa. Made us realize what a fantastic place Turkey is for a holiday. Glorious sun, beautiful views, temperatures in the high 90s, Bodrum nightlife and Gumusluk restaurants. Sitting out on the terrace at night with a Bacardi. We are missing it already.

We stayed at the Villa Adakani in July 2005 as a party of 6 and found the Villa to be very clean, spacious and homely like. Although the Villa isn't located in a town center, we still found it very easy to spend our evenings eating and drinking in either Bodrum, Gumusluk or Turgutries as the local bus service is excellent, cheap and runs all through the night from just up the road. The Views from the Villa Adakani are superb, and ideal for spending nights on the terrace watching the sun set and then rise. Excellent holiday all round and look forward to visiting again.

Mick & Sandra Bradbury: April 2005A very clean and spacious villa in a lovely location. Ideal if you like to watch all the different boats and ships that sail past. A well-equipped villa with a good selection of Music, Satellite & DVD entertainment. Although the villa is in a quiet and rural area we appreciated this peaceful atmosphere. As the weather was not too hot we were able to do a lot of walking and exploring. At night time a short bus ride or car journey soon takes you to plenty of restaurants or the brighter lights of Bodrum. An ideal location for a relaxing holiday with easy access to all the towns in the Bodrum Peninsula. Thoroughly enjoyed it and wished we had stayed for two weeks.

Joy and Peter Bennett: June 2005The villa is comfortable and well laid out with plenty of room for us all. The property was in a beautiful position, with a breathtaking view from the patio, from which we could enjoy spectacular views of the sunset every evening. The villa itself was extremely well equipped (the best we've ever experienced) and very comfortable. Lovely surroundings on the "estate" with huge pool - very often the only ones there in the morning! We also appreciated the care of the owners beforehand and after, who were keen to ensure that we had a good holiday and were extremely helpful in giving guidance and advice about the villa and surroundings, including car hire. Over all we had a wonderful holiday, and have already recommended the villa to many friends. The local bus service was very reliable and cheap and we used that to travel to Turgutreis and Gumusluk. We also had a hire car which enabled us to explore the coastline and travel into Bodrum. Errol (the gardener) was more than helpful in fetching fresh bread and water, when we did not want to venture far. For those wanting a relaxing time, you could not want for anything more. We look forward to returning with friends in the future.

Laura & Gareth Patalong: July 2005"We had a great time at villa Adakani and shared the accommodation with two other couples. The villa was very spacious with plenty of room for everyone and has views from the terraces that are out of this world. We looked forward to getting together at night to eat, drink and talk on the bottom terrace and then watch the sunset" "Although we did not have a car we found the bus service very easy to use and travelled into Bodrum, Turgutreis and Gumusluk on a regular basis"

Mr & Mrs Armstrong: May 2005"We were very impressed with the villa overall ... We enjoyed our stay very much and will be booking for the same time next year if thats OK"Dawn & Mike Smith: September 2005"The facilities were excellent. It was home from home" "Errol (the gardener) was a lovely friendly lad who would do whatever he could for you, deliver bread, water etc" "A wonderful holiday & look forward to returning next year"
