Villa overview - owner's description

Duplex villa, sleeps either up to 6 adults and 1 child or 4 adults and 3 children.Shared swimming pool and gardens. Fully air conditioned..Dalyan town center-250 metres.Wi-Fi now available.(Top up)

We visited Dalyan for the first time last year and immediately fell in love with the place. We made the decision then that we wanted to buy a villa there. We returned two months later and bought this villa as we loved the design, location and the general ambience of the complex.

The villa is on a small gravel road behind the village, some 1-2 minutes to the shops. A new small supermarket is about 150 meters back on the main road. Many villas advertise as being 5 minutes from the town - beware this is often by car - we are a 5 minute walk into town - this makes a huge difference to young children, the elderly or unfit as temperatures can be very high in peak season.

It is a private plot with 8 villas sharing the pool - some villas house permanent residents so for this reason we will not accept bookings from single/young groups.

Dalyan is a conservation area where the turtles are protected. The locals are incredibly proud of this and have found ways of allowing toursim into the area without destroying the wildlife. There is also a Stork's nest in front of the villa complex, this year there have been 4 young born and all have survived! The town never seems overcrowded and the Turkish folk just carry on their everyday lives. However the service you will receive is second to none. We are really made to feel welcome in their town.

The villa is approx 5-6 minutes walk from the riverside from which boats run trips to the beach, mudbaths, the lake and various other activities. Along the front are restuarants and bars where you can enjoy a meal or drink while overlooking the amazing rock tombs. A short boat ride can take you to Caunos ancient ruins. Shops line the streets of Dalyan where you can purchase everthing from groceries to belly dancing gear! Saturday market day (which takes up most of the town) is where you can haggle yourself some amazing bargains.

For the more adventurous there are trips going white water rafting, horseriding, treking and scuba diving. You are usually picked up from your front door for these trips and the costs are a lot cheaper than what you would pay with UK tour operators.Prices given outside travel agents and the boats are usually up for negotiation, and they will sometimes offer a discount if you book more than 1 trip with them.
Please note the pool is closed from October 1st until 30th April,it would be possible to keep it open in early October, please request this before booking as we have to make arrangements for this.
Please note this villa now has wi-fi available on a top up basis current cost is 40TL for 4 gb of memory,or 90TL for 15gb,please ask for details. .Most bars and restaurants have Wi-Fi and they will be happy to give you the code.

You dont need a car in Dalyan, the villa is within a couple of minutes of shopping, restaurants, bars, supermarkets. If you want to explore the area further(it is well worth doing believe me!)car hire is available in Dalyan at fairly low prices.
The local bus sevice is fantastic (dolmus). You can hop on and off wherever you like very cheaply
If you want to get around independantly, car hire is very cheap locally.
Hire a moped or scooter.
The local boat corporation provides a lovely way to go on various trips and gets you to the beach as well, current cost is 10TL return. There are many travel agents around town offering trips, always ask for a discount as they will usually offer you one, particularly if you book more than 1 trip with them.

a wonderfully located property, only a few minutes walk from the centre of Dalyan with all the restaurants and shops. The villa is well equipped, extremely clean and maintained to a high standard. the pool was most welcome as we came in August and it was scorching hot weather! there is a brilliant welcome information pack with all your questions you may have already answered. We took a few trips with their local tourist agency Dalyan selec t and were great value for money. We would definitely come again in the cooler months as it is a great spot for trips further afield but we were too hot to go! i would really recommend this property. Great value for money and fabulous location. thank you.

Many thanks to Tina for letting us use the villa. Beautiful place, ideal location and everything you could possibly need is in the villa. It is close to everywhere and the management company provided an excellent service including the airport transfer. We will be returning to Dalyan next year and hopefully using the same villa.

From Cheshunt, United Kingdom Aug 2009

This was our first holiday abroad and we could not have wished for a better place. The transfer from the airport was first class and we quickly realised how well located the villa was.
We were so impressed with the villa itself - it was large, modern and spotlessly clean.
Every thing you could possibly need was provided and it really was a home from home.(Actually I wish my home was this nice!).
The pool area was beautiful and we were often the only ones there - the neighbours were friendly and everyone seems respectful of each others privacy.
The location was fantastic - a minutes walk to shops, dolmus buses and the taxi boats. The area itself is clean and the people lovely, so friendly.
We could travel to anywhere from the town centre very cheaply, as well as staying in the town itself with plenty to do. The trips are very reasonable and good value. We visited the mud baths, turtle beach ,neighbouring towns and the water park as well as different places to eat , went to feed the turtles and travelled on jeep safaris. Nearby is a great little sauna/ massage place which was cheap as chips.
My oldest Daughter enjoyed it (15) as well as my youngest (10), great for all ages.
We felt really lucky to have found such a gem and we cant fault the owners or the company who maintians the property. We found the villa excellent value for money as well as the shops and places to eat. You must go on the LEYLEY BUS for the ride ( and of course the food!)
If you are lucky enough to go, please say hello to Lucky the very friendly villa complex dog for us !

Another wonderful trip to Dalyan, and a very pleasant stay at Villa Lykia.

Weve been to Dalyan many times, and this was our second time at Villa Lykia, felt very much like home from home!

Its a great, fun place to stay, perfect for our family of four, with a pool just outside.

The bikes came in handy again, and its jut a couple of minutes to the centre of town, and our favourite (cheap!) restaurants in the marketplace.

Prices in Turkey have held pretty much since last year, though the better exchange rate was handy - with almost 2.5 lira to the pound making it even better value for money.

We will definitely be back!!!

A wonderful holiday in a wonderful place. Dalyan is always a delight, and made even better by a pleasant stay at Villa Lykia.

With the pool right outside the back door, was a wonderful way to spend hot lazy days in the sun.

Our children loved the Playstation, which came in handy when the temperature hit 40C+ in the afternoons.

The villa is two minutes walk from the centre of Dalyan, in a quite spot in the back roads from the marketplace.

Perfect for families and anyone seeking a quiet relaxing spot. We made some good friends amongst others who live or were staying in the small complex, which made it all the more homely.

And with three bikes we went exploring every day, with our six year old daughter perched on the rack of my bike. Totally un-PC, very Turkish!

We will be back!

The villa is right in the centre of Dalyan in a quiet side street behind the market just a few minutes walk from all the shops and restaurants. Its very well equipped with everything we needed and the kitchen is lovely. We had a BBQ on the veranda right next to the pool. Although the pool is shared we were the only ones using it. This villa is great and we are hoping to go back again in October Joy and Mike-Southport

We stayed at Villa Lykia in September 2013,(apologies for not getting around to doing my review earlier than this!).It was brilliant and a pleasant surprise as it was our first visit to Turkey after many years of going to Greece. The standard of accomodation was very high,it was comfortable and well equipped with many personal touches in all of the bedrooms. Our children loved the Disney character paintings in the attic bedroom in particular! There is a good selec tion of English TV channels including sport and childrens channels. The air con is fine and the rooms also have fans which we tended to use instead,as the weather was a little cooler apparently at the end of September. It is close to town and the Saturday market(both within 5 minute walk)whilst the beach is some way off it is great to visit it by using the public boats which cost 10 lira return. There are many trips available although we only did a boat trip,if we go back next year we will definitely do some of them,Ephesus in particular sounds really good. The pool area is lovely and we had it to ourselves on the days we never went out, lovely! There are many lovely restaurants in Dalyan it would be impossible to name them all, although our particular favourite is Taffys Place,he does the most wonderful steaks ever,no menu as such just pick your own main course from the counter in the restaurant. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 children age range of 10 -15 and would recommend this villa. Alice,Glasgow

Thank you Tina and Derek,we had a wonderful holiday. The villa was lovely, spotless.the pool crystal clear.Everything we needed, the kids loved it as they could go off on thier own back next year without a doubt.Roger and Jenny.manchester.
