DALAMAN AREA

Dalaman is an area of breathtaking natural beauty located between the sea and mountains, with fragrant orange groves, lovely unspoilt beaches and fascinating ancient sites. The ideal base to explore from or just relax in the rural setting.

Enjoy your evenings at some wonderful restaurants offering quality meals made from fresh organic products grown locally in Dalaman. Here are a few restaurants, recommended by our guests:

AKKAYA GARDEN RESTAURANT - one of the best restaurants in the Mediterranean Region. There are plenty of places to dine in the garden with secluded seating areas or in a storks nest. The nests are positioned in the trees and can sit 4-8 people. The restaurant is located deep in the valley amongst the pine trees. It is set amongst waterfalls, ponds, wildlife and beautiful trees and flowers. The food is second to none with an excellent selection of both Turkish and European cuisine.

CINAR RESTAURANT - enjoy a meal sitting under the trees. The service and food are wonderful, with Turkish and International cuisine. You even have your own BBQ next to your table.

Dalaman is rapidly becoming an area of destination rather than just a stop over on the way to some other resort town. Over - development and exploitation of the area is stopped by the protection afforded to the rare loggerhead turtles that frequent the river and beach. Ensuring Dalaman develops in harmony with its surrounding environment and retains its natural beauty.

BEACHES, RELAXATION, ADVENTURE AND HISTORY

SARIGERME BEACH : with 4 miles of golden sand, shallow sea and the island of Babada not too far in the distance, is a great day out for all the family. A short walk along the wooded footpath with its turkeys, chickens and peacocks running free, brings you out onto the exceptionally clean beach. Facilities include food and drink outlets, water sports, showers, toilets, beach chairs, umbrellas and dressing cabins are all available.

SARSALA BEACH : is a lovely family beach set in a small bay with a restaurant, changing rooms, shower and W.C. The beach is 6 miles from Dalaman. There are daily "12 island" boat trips available from the small pier price is 8 per person and includes a BBQ lunch.

IZTUZU BEACH : Visit one of the most beautiful beaches on the Mediterranean coastline. This sand bar that separates the sea from the mouth of the Dalyan Creek is an excellent swimming beach. Situated 30 minutes from Dalaman, Iztuzu Beach has also been preserved, as it is one of the last nesting grounds for the endangered Loggerhead Turtles.

THERME MARIS SPA : you can buy a day pass to use some great facilities including massage, fitness centre, beauty centre (skin care centre, aromatic bathtub, solarium, peeling, hamam, sauna, pressotherapy, starvac, thermo failure), 3 different outdoor pools with thermal natural water, indoor pool, jacuzzi and mud bath. You can see and feed the endangered Loggerhead Turtles. Located immediately behind Dalaman Beach.

GOCEK : Often referred to as the St.Tropez of Turkey, with its exclusive yachting marina and unspoilt beaches, Gocek has emerged as one of the countries most affluent areas to live in Turkey. Take the 12 Island Boat Excursion great day out for all the family. The market takes place on a Sunday, ideal place to buy leather goods, local crafts dont forget to haggle!

DALYAN : Only 20 minutes drive to the west from the Villa, you will find Dalyan, a small but exquisite fishing town, which lies next to a meandering river, teaming with wild life. After spending your time browsing the typically diverse Turkish market stalls, why not relax and take a look at the Lycian tombs, carved into the rock face, from the comfort of one of the many romantically set restaurants lining the Dalyan riverside. It only takes you a few minutes from the centre of town to stroll through to the Old Dalyan of gardens and willow trees, to flavour days gone by.

KAYA KOY : Once a thriving Greek village, this town of over one thousand houses, two churches, fourteen chapels, and two schools, was completely deserted in 1923 when the 25,000 Greek inhabitants living there, along with more than a million other Greeks living throughout Turkey were repatriated to Greece through a massive government mandated population exchange between the two countries following the Greek war of independence. Since then, the village of Kayakoy, as it is called in Turkish, or Karmylassos, as it was called in Greek, which had been continually inhabited since at least the 13th century, has stood empty and crumbling, with only the breeze from the mountains and mist from the sea blowing through its empty houses and streets. A wonderful place steeped in history that touches you to the very soul.

KAUNOS : Visit the ancient ruins of Kaunos, situated approximately 40 minutes from the villa. Amongst the ruins of the city, you will find an old theatre, a large rectangular building that was probably a temple, others of uncertain description, a Byzantine church, and very curious rock-hewn tombs.

SULTANIYE HOT SPRINGS & MUD BATHS : Situated just before Dalyan Creek joins the lake, you can give yourself a body pack of mud and then wash it all off again in a sulphur pool with temperatures as hot as in the Sultaniye Baths.

WHITE-WATER RAFTING : in Dalaman is one of the most exciting holiday experiences and is perfect for active thrill seekers. The Dalaman River is rated as one of the top rafting destinations in the world. Professionals will guide you every step of the way for an unforgettable adventure on the Dalaman waters.

SAKLIKENT GORGE : the ideal place to visit if you are feeling especially hot. The gorge is 18km long and so steep and narrow that the sun does not penetrate, so the water is icy cold. The gorge is approached along a wooden boardwalk above the river and opens out to a series of wooden platforms suspended above the water, where you can buy and eat trout at one of the specialist restaurants.

Fantastic villa, well equipped, clean and superb for us as a family of two adults and two kids. Lovely remote location with no one to bother you during lazy days and long warm evenings. One down side, not many restaurants nearby, however Cinar Restaurant just down the road is excellent and welcoming. If you fancy a fab wet and I mean wet day out go for a Jeep Safari (Sarigerme Tours) excellent value 55 GBP for the family of 4 including dinner. Long day but so much fun. Be prepared to be soaked. The Dalyan River Trip is a must, again excellent value 80 TL for all of us including dinner, mud baths, tombs etc. Great way to see Dalyan. Turkish Baths, wicked but go before you get a tan or they will scrub it all away. Thank you.

The villa itself and your attention to detail for everything meet & greet, car hire, directions, welcome at the villa was exceptional and very important when visiting anywhere for the first time. A big thank you and something to sell to other guests. We had a fantastic time and didnt want to come home. We will certainly go back to Turkey and hopefully be able to stay at Villa Kyrenia again. Thank you

2010 was a villa east of Kyrenia in Northern Cyprus, 2011 was a villa west of Kyrenia in Northern Cyprus. Then 2012 we found Villa Kyrenia in Dalaman, Turkey - The Jackpot. By far the best of the three. Fixtures, fittings and even the location were all to a high standard and we enjoyed 14 great nights and days in glorious sunshine and comforts nearly as good as home! The local markets were really enjoyable and we had some fantastic trips to local towns and sites. The villa and holiday score highly and we would recommend it to anyone. Many thanks David & Alison

A most enjoyable week, Turkey has everything we love and the villa is the best that we have rented, so comfortable and so ell equipped (apart from a teapot!). We loved the locals who were really friendly, we enjoyed many evenings at Cinar Restaurant and Akkaya Gardens where you can sit in the birds nest, is an absolute must do! (beware the steep and windy roads upto Akkaya). Dalyan never fails to please, the turtles and ruins make the place another enjoyable day out. We will definately return to Turkey and perhaps we will see you again. Thank you

This was our first visit to Turkey and can honestly say it has been very enjoyable. The villa is beautiful with everything you could possibly need close to hand. The decor and furnishing is of a very high standard. The pool is very clean and perfect for the afternoons when it can become very hot. Evenings are hot but a lovely breeze comes through the patio to cool you down and let you enjoy watching the sun go down. The villa manager is very helpful on our arrival giving plenty of information on things to do around the area. The mud baths in Dalyan were fun and made good memories. Mehmet and Sezayi were also very helpful on giving us information. So to sum up we would have no hesitation in recommending this villa to others 100% perfect. Thank you

If you could mark this place out of 10 based upon the internet pictures versus reality its an 11 out of 10. Amazing, fantastic and lush. We didnt want to leave. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so lovely to eat out on the veranda every night - the men were fabulous chefs, making Carole and I feel very special and spoilt. The evenings were cool with the fragrant smell of jasmine in the air. With the stressful start to the holiday - out flight company going bust - after finding new flights it was so lovely to arrive at the villa and start to chill. We really would love to return. Thank you for opening your home for us to enjoy. Carole, Andy, Karen and Carl

Villa Kyrenia is a little gem and a haven of tranquility. A charming, comfortable, luxurious, well equipped villa. It is lovely to be in such a great house with all the luxury it gives, like the pool, the gardens, the huge terrace and the views, but also to be living in the centre of Turkish rural life. We loved to watch the local people going about their business and see the cows and the goats being looked after and because it was the Turkish school holidays, the children were around too. Cant quite get the words to describe how much we loved being there and also having the local hosts to look after us was wonderful. Not in our faces but always seemed just to turn up at the right time. The most peaceful and relaxing holiday we have ever had.

Just got back from a very relaxing week at Villa Kyrenia in Dalaman. Our first visit to Dalaman and it was a total surprise. Real Turkish experience but within very easy reach of beaches, boat trips, historic sites and of course those all important Local Markets where you can practice those negotiation skills! About 500m away is Cinar Restaurant, great food and service and extremely reasonable prices. Villa Kyrenia is a beautiful villa, lovely garden and pool and location is perfect, overlooking orchards, mountains and every morning the local farmer put is herd of goats in the field next door. We would highly recommend Villa Kyrenia and will certainly be back. Thank you.

It was lovely to be able to stay in such a rural setting, yet be only a 20 minute walk from Dalaman. The little touches like having the use of the shopping trolley complete with phrase book were invaluable - Thank you. Martin was a gem, so helpful, as was Mehmet. The minor problem we had with the washing machine was sorted very quickly thanks to them. We loved watching the sunset from the terrace and also the locals tending their animals. A totally relaxing holiday.

We had the most relaxing holiday at this villa, thank you to the owners for enabling us to stay in their wonderful home. It was exceptional, all aspects., inside and out. The pool and garden are wonderful and the goats are fab ! Again we have to thank martin & marty for their unique hospitality, and ensuring we had the peaceful and relaxing time wed hoped for.....we will be much more active next year. We wish the owners all the best with their plans xx Karen & Jimmy
We had a fantastic 3 week stay in Villa Kyrenia in September, the villa has everything you need and is so peaceful and private and the neighbours were helpful and friendly. The local restaurant called Cinar is just a short walk away and Kenan the owner is very helpful and food is wonderful. Dalaman is a real Turkish experience not full of tourists, there is so much to see and do in the local area we liked Sarsala Beach and Gocek is great for boat trips. And the weekly market is a real experience with so much fresh organic fruit and veg and great local spices. We hope to be back next year to this wonderful villa. Thank you
We stayed in this lovely bungalow which is surrounded by pomegranate trees, our closest neighbours were the goats which the friendly locals brought each day to feed on the fallen fruits. The accommodation was superb-everything we needed and much, much more. Although we felt as though we were in the countryside in fact we were only 10-15 mins walk out of town and even less to a big supermarket. There was a restaurant (cant remember the name) around the corner, the owner was really friendly and spoke good English he offered us all sorts of advice. The terrace, garden and pool were all really lovely theres a built in barbie on the terrace. It was one of the most relaxing holidays weve ever had and nearly forgot the beach at Sarigerme was just fab clean and a lovely atmosphere. If you want to see real Turkey but with everything a few minutes walk then Villa Kyrenia is ideal. We have already booked for 2010.
A lovely bijou Villa on the outskirts of Dalaman. Very peaceful location with scenic mountain views.
