Villa overview - owner's description

For a family-friendly escape in a tranquil location, Turkey's four-bedroomed Villa Kavak is your go-to. The charming villa is nestled between towering trees and shrubs in the sleepy town of Bitez on Turkey's southern coast – so you can expect complete privacy. It's traditionally Mediterranean in style – you'll feel like you're in a Turkish home rather than a holiday villa – think whitewashed archways, a paved pool terrace area and dark wood features. When you're not sunbathing by the pool or dipping your toes in the cooling waters, find a relaxing spot under one of the tall trees.

On the first floor, there's a kitchen with everything you'll need for a self-catering stay. Plus, a dishwasher and washing machine to make your holiday completely hassle free. Kick back on the sofas in the living room, get cosy by the fire in the evening or plan your exciting daily adventures over the breakfast bar. There's plenty of seating options so everyone can be together at once. There's also one twin bedroom on this floor – perfect for those who want some extra space.

On the second floor you'll find a twin bedroom and two double bedrooms. All the rooms have en-suite bathrooms with showers – so they'll be no fighting over getting ready in the morning – and balconies so you can soak up those beautiful nature views. By night, the balconies are also an ideal place to watch a sunset. Oh, and did we mention there's a barbeque at this villa too? You can pick up fresh local produce like seafood from the nearest supermarket – just 2.5km away.

With local restaurants 2.5km away and the nearest sandy beach a short 600 metre walk, Villa Kavak is the ideal place to explore this fantastic part of Turkey. Bustling Bodrum is only a 10-minute drive away too. Loose track of time exploring the colourful markets there or snapping pictures of the exciting historical sites like Bodrum Castle. There are also plenty more Blue Flag Beaches and opportunities to take part in action-packed watersports like scuba diving.

Villa Kavak is in the sleepy town of Bitez on Turkey's southern coast. Although it's only a 10-minute drive from the country's lively capital, Bodrum, it still retains traditional laidback and authentic charm. Think classic white-washed houses, draped in bougenvilla, and a bay lined with wooden fishing boats. When you're not lazing on sand-and-shingle Bitez Beach or strolling around the citrus groves, stop for lunch at one of the waterfront restaurants for a cooling iced coffee.

For a livelier scene, Bodrum Town is your go-to. The capital boasts everything from a beautiful marina to colourful markets. It's also a must-visit for history lovers. Not only is it the site of one of the Wonders of the Ancient World – the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus – but it's also home to the Museum of Underwater Archaeology. Here you can see ancient treasures recovered from sunken ships, and two reconstructed shipwrecks – one dating from the Bronze Age. If you're on the hunt for souvenirs or food for cooking back at the villa instead, the markets are an excellent choice. There you'll find stalls selling everything from hand-made rugs and leather goods to fresh produce. When the sun sets, the city comes alive with live music, so it's a fantastic place to be.

For the sports lovers, there's an 18-hole golf course nearby, as well as tennis courts dotted around the peninsula. You'll also find plenty of opportunities to take part in water sports like sea kayaking, scuba diving and parasailing. Wolf's Point – a prime spot for spotting stingray and stonefish – is just one of the top dive sites, or you could hop on a boat and sail along the coast.
