Gunesli Villa, Kadriye/Belek

We discovered the Belek / Side region of Antalya, (affectionately called ‘the Turkish Riviera’ due to its archaeological and natural beauty), nine years ago and were immediately drawn to its friendly, laid back atmosphere.

We knew that a holiday in this area would virtually guarantee bright sunny weather, whatever the time of year, but unlike more commercial resorts, Kadriye in particular has retained much of the original charm and culture that has always led us back to Turkey. Coming face to face with the odd camel, cows and chickens roaming in the yards of houses on the outskirts of the village is still a common sight! We‘ve thoroughly enjoyed our holidays in Turkey over the years and have met many lovely people who we look forward to seeing each time we return.

Belek is of course, home to some of the finest championship golf courses in the world and many are just a few minutes drive from our villa. The quality of these courses compares favourably with any around England and Europe, including the Algarve and Spain. Green fees vary from course to course and are seasonal with the hotter summer months being the least expensive.

Although Belek is probably more cosmopolitan and offers greater choice for shopping, Kadriye is like going home – it’s easy to find your way around and everyone will make you feel welcome and treat you as though they have known you for years. Custom is very important to Turkish people and when you are the customer you can expect to be looked after extremely well. It is a Turkish business man’s sole aim to ensure you leave satisfied in order that you will return again very soon - after relieving you of as much cash as he can of course!

There are several very good restaurants in Kadriye and Belek all offering a varying choice of menu at reasonable prices. One of our favourites is Adana in Kadriye, where it is still possible to eat in a smart restaurant and have a superb meal for little more than £8 a head – although ordering wine will double your bill! If you go into Adana, be sure to ask for Ayup and remember us to him!

It is found just off the main Kadriye to Belek road, within 3 kms of both towns, approximately 26 kms from Antalya airport. There is a good sized (shared) swimming pool on site and a local supermarket, ‘Yildiz Market’ at the end of the road, just 5 minutes stroll. The On-Site and Nearby Facilities
We have spent a lot of time and money (or rather Jacki has!), to make our home comfortable and well equipped with all modern facilities to ensure you have an enjoyable and safe holiday. There is an information folder with equipment instructions, recommendations of places to visit and eat, medical and emergency facilities and contact numbers etc. Guests comments and suggestions are always welcomed.

The house is kept clean, well decorated, with a tiled ceramic floor and marble staircase. It is fully air conditioned, with additional ceiling fans to maintain comfortable living conditions. Energy saving solar heating ensures plenty of hot water is available throughout the summer, with a back up immersion heater facility if and when required. For safety reasons and to keep the house pleasant for future guests, we respectfully ask guests not to smoke inside the house at all times.

All bedding is supplied plus wash/shower towels for indoor use only.

Our guests can enjoy the good sized communal swimming pool (open late June - September). Guests are welcome to take the villa sunbeds to the pool area if desired, but PLEASE remember to return them at the end of your holiday!

We can arrange for our guests to be collected from the airport and driven to the house, or we can recommend value for money car hire. To explore the region, we highly recommend hiring a car to get around, although regular public transport (Dolmus) is available at the end of the road, together with a good taxi service for those late nights!

The popular, yet uncrowded, golden sand beach is a five minute drive away offering a multitude of water sport activities for the more athletic, or relaxing sunbathing for the less energetic. For a change, you can even use the excellent facilities and entertainment of local 5 star hotels, all inclusive of food and drink, use of pools, water slides, private beach etc, for very reasonable daily or half daily rates, with (at the time of writing) 50% discounts for children under 12, and free for children under 7.

Just some of the many day attractions include spectacular waterfalls at Duden, exhilarating rafting at Koprulu Canyon, the captivating ancient ruins at Side (pronounced See-day), enticing shopping in Antalya and mesmerizing boat trips, enthralling jeep safaris....where do I stop?

In the evenings, you can choose to dance the night away or ‘inspect’ the choice of bars in Belek or Kadriye, but whatever else, you should reserve a night at Aspendos, and enjoy a breathtaking show in arguably the best restored Roman amphitheatre in the world! A memorable experience!

If you do choose to stay at our villa, remember, you will only be half an hour from the airport and just 5 to 10 minutes from all amenities – local towns, beaches, several of the world’s most renowned golf courses and the beautiful pine forest, which is fantastic if you enjoy horse riding. I was lucky enough to see baby turtles leaving their nest for the first time and heading towards the sea, when I was riding in the forest.

With a backdrop view of the Taurus mountains, we are only an hour and 45 mins drive away from the ski resorts of Davraz or Saklikent, which enjoy good snow conditions from December through to the beginning of May. Imagine a morning’s skiing followed by an afternoon dip in the warm Mediterranean sea!

Some of our best days have been on one of the many boats that adorn the harbours of Side or Antalya. Follow this with a gentle stroll around the temple ruins in Side before finally enjoying a drink or meal and watching the magnificent sunset across the sea – just perfect. It really is beautiful and we have got some amazing photos to remind us.

Just writing this makes me envious that it is you going and not us! – have a wonderful holiday and we really do hope you love it as much as we do.

Jacki and Simon Perry

Excellant stay in a very beautiful villa, being a villa owner myself it was a very pleasant experience staying in such a well equipped villa, beautiful pool and very friendly people - felt like home from home. Thank you very much, I will of course recommend this and would certainly book again if ever the need arises.

We have stayed in this villa many times before and it is the home-from home feel, cleanliness, ideal location and great value for money which keeps bringing us back year after year! The villa is perfect, modern and has all essentials needed for the perfect stay. We even put in a request for a travel cot and the renters went out of their way and ensured there was one upon our arrival. The patio area to this villa is absolutely perfect and the renters have gone to a lot of trouble purchasing beautiful, garden furniture. Our only complaint is we were told the communal pool would definitely be up and running when we arrived..... It wasnt! In fact it didnt open until our fortnights holiday was up. This was a big dissapointment as wed taken our 3 small children on this holiday, meaning the pool was a necessity, especially as the temperatures were reaching the mid 40s. I hope this problem is sorted as the villa and the villa site are lovely and we would like to book again next year, but ONLY with a pool!

I have previously stayed in this villa on one other occassion 3 years ago and I must say I was hugely impressed with the level of improvement which has been made! This villa is modern, stylish and its clear every effort has been made to make it as homely as possible. Its beautifully decorated, with nice furnishings. The showers are a nightmare (either boiling hot or freezing cold!) but having holidayed in this area for 7 years Im used to the dodgy waterworks. The patio area at the back of the villa is simply stunning and the large garden dining set (with fantastic umberella, ideal for shading from the afternoon sun) was a great addition and we spent a few hours every afternoon there eating dinner and taking a break from the extreme heat. My only complaint is that some Thomas Cook reps stayed on the site this year and were nothing but a nuisance by the communal pool! They played there music extremely loudly and continually drank bottle after bottle of alcohol by the poolside. I went on this holiday as a single parent with my 2 small children and I didnt feel safe with them by the pool as there were bottles lying around and the reps were intoxicated. I know this is no fault of yours, but it did hinder my holiday as I was on edge at all times and couldnt relax knowing there were drunken people around my children in the middle of the daytime. Its unnecessary and inappropriate. Otherwise The villa itself is simply stunning and I will look to book again, hopefully the reps will have moved on by next year! Thank you again for a lovely stay in your beautiful villa, Joanne.

The villa was excellent. It was very clean and perfect for families with children. I would definitiv recommend it. There are dolmus (little bus) which goes to the beach, Belek, Kadriye etc. for a quite cheap price, but I would advice families with children to hire a car.

We've been here before, so knew what to expect. It's absolutely delightful - lovely clean villa with all facilities. Easy to get to local attractions by car, and plenty for the kids. Another great holiday - thank you. Jackie.
Marhaba Simon Sorry for taking so long to get back, however we had a fantastic holiday and your villa is delightful. It was the first time on a villa holiday for my wife and family and they were blown away by how lovely your villa was. For my wife and me it was almost home from home (not being able to find things at hand). From my wife and family and myself I would sincerely like to thank you and your better half for providing such an amicable and welcoming abode. I read all the previous comments on your property and I (we) are totally dumbfounded by some of the negative statements, this is one of the best villas I have ever been at (I have lived overseas since 1979). Well done and keep up the good work Kind rgds Bill & Aysegul Ps: Top floor suite excellent as long as you are under 6ft (me 63" my head still hurts but only after a few wee Rakis)
This villa was stunningly decorated, very welcoming, had everything needed for a pleasant holiday and was of a comfortable size for a family of 8! It was practically perfect with air conditioning in every room to keep us all cool, on a peaceful site with very pleasant and friendly neighbours and of course that superbly sized pool was just the icing on the cake. My family and I will most definitely be booking again next year, and the year after that!! Thank you! xx
It must be said that this property has been well kept and cared for. It is clear to see that the owners have spent time and money to make this villa as comfortable as one could possibly exspect . In many ways it was home from home with all the mod cons you would want or need. A very clean, bright and pleasant villa with plenty space and really good size bedrooms. Perfect sleeping space for up to at least 7 maybe even 8. We were very happy with it and I am normally a fusy customer when it comes to places to stay. 100% SPOT ON . Thanksand could you please arrange for my £100 deposit to be returned if not already done.
The property was comfortable with a very comfy bed however we were disappointed on arrival at the condition of the house particularly the state of the terraces which were initially unusable because of debris i.e. leaves etc and dirty sun beds - there were also dirty footprints on the floor in the bedroom and a film of dust over everything - windowsills had dead flies on them - on the positive side this problem was swiftly dealt with by Sarah the manager when we complained and the house was cleaned that day There was a large amount of building work in the vicinity of the house The TV was tiny even for a portable and had no remote control so could not function - Sarah again came to the rescue and purchased a universal remote so we could play the odd DVD all things considered the house was reasonable value for the price but a clean house on arrival is usually a given and needs to be addressed for future tenants - also such a small TV in these days of cheap electronic goods seems inappropriate in what was otherwise a very nice house the 2nd floor toilet didn't work and the 3rd floor shower also didn't work - possibly water pressure problems perhaps a power shower would be a good idea Liked the area very beautiful Sarah's bar was very welcoming and we made several acquaintances there the local food was very good and very cheap and Deniz the car hire chap was excellent value and we rented a good quality car from him.
Owner reply:

Whilst we have to respect the viewpoint of ‘Colin from England’ we are very disappointed and do not recognise this in any way to be an accurate reflection of our property.1) The villa had been thoroughly cleaned albeit on this occasion 2 days before arrival, resulting in a ‘few’ leaves on the terrace! Hardly ‘unusable’! However, I apologise as we agree the villa should be spotlessly clean, as is our usual reputation (see other reviews) and in future the villa will be cleaned just ‘hours’ before each arrival.2) Building work? True, there are buildings in progress visible outside the complex – Belek and Kadriye are fast developing towns – but there wasn’t any construction work going on during your stay ‘Mr Colin from England’ – no noise from bulldozers or machinery or sight of busy workmen - they’re not allowed to carry out major construction work between May and October – so you could not have been inconvenienced! What a shame you failed to mention the beautiful mountain views! 3) Two paragraphs about the size of the TV! It’s a 14” standard portable with DVD, suitable for the size and style of the sitting room and perfectly adequate for all our previous guests – who didn’t go on holiday to Turkey to watch TV. However, just in case we invite another ‘Colin from England’, I have now replaced the portable with a new 22” TV/DVD combo.4) The toilet ballcock got stuck! A 15 second release job! Sorry – a phone call to our property manager would have got it fixed within an hour. The other 2 toilets operated fine.5) Sorry about the water pressure – it’s a temporary complex problem. It’s not great on the top floor, but the shower DOES work and is adequate with plenty of hot water, but if more pressure is required, the middle floor shower is much better. In summary, we’re sorry ‘Colin from England’ was apparently inconvenienced by what we consider to be minor issues. We are particularly sorry he found it necessary to mention them on a public website, while failing to recognise the many qualities of the villa and surroundings. Whilst we welcome guests’ comments, we consider this review to be unfair, unbalanced and giving a false impression of the villa of which we are very proud. We are confident that future guests will find it very comfortable and well presented at a ‘more than reasonable’ price, as is verified by all our previous guests’ reviews. We would like to suggest ‘Colin from England’ seeks a 5 star hotel, at 5 star prices for future holidays.Simon Perry – owner.

Just want to say thank you. We'd been to Turkey many times before, but never to this part, and you're right - it really is unspoilt like the Turkey I remember. Gunesli villa was everything we expected it to be and more - spotlessly clean and everything new. It's in an ideal location to get to all the places we wanted to visit. We'll definately return.Sue and Noel Winstanley, St Neots, Cambs.

What a lovely place! We'd never been to Turkey before, so didn't know what to expect. The house is within 10 minutes drive of the sand beach (lovely morning strolls) and both Belek and Kadriye towns, with good restaurants and shopping (particularly the markets). The house was very comfortable considering the outside temperature drop in the evenings (February). The air conditioning was very welcome! We loved the Turkish hospitality - why does everyone want you to drink Raki?! I'll definately return (for a discount!).Debbie Langham, Ivybridge, Devon
Truly a wonderful holiday in this beautiful country. We found the local Turkish people so friendly although trying to communicate was often interesting!Gunesli Villa had everything we could wish for - great location and every comfort and facility necessary for self catering, although we chose to eat out every night. The local restaurants were excellent and surprisingly reasonable. The in-house information book was very informative suggesting many places of interest - if only we'd had the time to visit them all. Oh well - perhaps next time!Norma Karney, Stevenage, Herts.

About the owner
My wife Jacki and I have owned our 4 bedroom villa in Turkey since 2004. We are a busy working family and value our holiday time highly. We can think of no better place to relax and enjoy our vacation than to be at our holiday home on the beautiful Turkish mediterranean coast. We have spent much time and money over the years to ensure our villa is kept clean and well maintained for our guests and family to enjoy, together with those essential extras to make everyone's holiday that little bit special and memorable. We hope you'll enjoy your holiday as much as we do.
