Further details on location and Alacati:
Alacati is a charming town located on the Cesme peninsular on Turkeys beautiful Aegean coast. Overlooked by a row of stone windmills, the towns cobbled streets are lined with stone houses, shops and tavernas, and dotted with friendly guesthouses. The shops sell local crafts, jewellery and antiques while the village square is filled with market stalls and open-air cafes. Alacati Bay, has become Turkeys top wind-sport location thanks to its protected, shallow water and strong, reliable wind. It is an established destination for kite-boarders and windsurfers from across Europe and a venue for international competitions, which attract thousands of spectators each summer. There are many interesting sights and great beaches on the Cesme peninsular and plenty of other things to do. After dark, there are nightspots to suit all tastes, from friendly tavernas to slick cocktail bars, with a selection of nightclubs and beach bars open until dawn nearby. In summer, Alacati is popular with Turkish tourists and a small but growing number of European kite-boarders and windsurfers. Outside the main holiday months of July and August, the pace of life is slow and Alacati reverts to being a sleepy Turkish town.

The villa was basically as described, but we would not have thought to have checked if there was an electric kettle available ( which there was not). The area is quite pretty with lovely shelved beaches within a very short distance, but we would have found it hard to have discovered them since the owner never presented herself and neither thought to leave any information whatsoever about the area or a small map in the villa. We found oursleves in a virtually Turkish speaking area and had it not been for the fact the the next door villa was occupied by an English fluent Turkish speaker, I think we would still be looking for the village of Alacati!! Compared with other villas we have rented in Turkey, the villa was very basic with one wardrobe for three bedrooms and very few plates or cutlery to cope for 4 nor 5 people. We were just two, and struggled a little. Be aware that there is a charge of £15 per person if you would like bed linen and a shower towel. The pool was clean and well maintained but unfenced and useless for small children who would not be able to stand anywhere in it. Also overlooked by 8 other villas and not at all private. There were no sunloungers for our villa - but the next door neoighbour explained that 4 sunloungers were to be shared amongst 3 villas. We were very disappointed and would certainly not recommend to any friends whatsoever, but if you like windsurfing or want to drive to Ephasus (2 hours) you might like to think about it. We would never return.
Owner reply:

Hi Wray,Firstly thank you for sharing your opinion with us.Secondly, please know that I am sincerely sorry for you to leave my home in these negative thoughts. The thing is I was not aware at all that you were that dissappointed really and it is why I would like to explaine my point of view on your comments:Firstly, to arrange your late arrival I had to make sure the taxi was in the airport in time, he brought you home safely and he assists you for entering your villa without difficulty. Even if I did not make it very loudly, I was checking and getting report from the guy for your arrival steps because I take it very serious that my guests arrive home safe. And then actually I like they feel home in all the ways… Actually it is a shame that we could not meet, this is correct but I did come to Alacati to meet you twice and we could not meet because once you were in Bergama and other time you were again out. The fact that I was in the midle of an organisation of a marriage and that you did not let me know that you did prefer to meet me, I did not make my way again and again to Alacati as I was constantly moving around due to the marriage organisation. The only thing you asked me to arrange was kettle and it is why I did come specially for this to supply you with it. It is true that my cleaner lady had forgotton to replace the good one with the broken one. As you were out, I left them even on the table in your terrasse. Concerning the sun loungers, there are 5 long sun chairs + 2 big cushions which are mostly prefered by young guests. In total each villa has min. 2sun beds + chairs..Lastly normally it is always noted in my adverts that there are the supplementary charges for compulsory final cleaning (50£) and optional bed linen & towels (15£/person)which was in anyway offered to you as you were only 2 persons and as i twas not in the high season. All in all, altough I cannot aggree with all your points, in all ways I am very sorry about not beeing helpful for making you passing nice stay personally. Normally I do take pleasure to meet my guests personally and the first thing I say to them is that even if I am not there my phone is reachable for 24h/24 and do not hesitate to cal for any problem (from taxi arrangement to any other subject accures because of the language problem).I hope your next experience in Turkey will be with nicer souvenirs.. Regards, Ozlem

We stayed at the Alacati Villa in October-November 2011 - I came over fro the stats and my family visited from the USSR. The villas are beautifully build three bedrooms with large open space in living room. The villas are fully furnished and kitchens are equipped well for cooking. They are well located vis-a-vis the rest of the town, though we still found having a rental car to be useful Ozlem, who owns and manages these properties, is a wonderful host. She was EXTREMELY helpful throughout - in deciding what we needed, in helping set up travel arrangements for pick up from the airport, and in helping us navigate around the area and the city of Izmir. We are very grateful.
The complex is beautifully maintained, with a super sparkly pool. It was a perfect, quiet spot for a family get away. The villa is large enough that we had four adults and a baby and did not get under one anothers feet. Alacati is a lovely spot with great windsurfing and we enjoyed a trip to Cesme too. Great hospitality from Ozlem - thanks!
We chose Alacati because of an article written in the Independent describing the town the best kept secret of Turkish holiday makers. It certainly was a gem, very Turkish and unspoilt. There were lots of tourists but mainly Turkish. The old town is made up of old stone houses along narrow streets, dotted with shops selling antiques, jewellery, clothes and gifts and an abundance of restaurants. The best food we tasted was at Asma Yapragi, where the owner took us into the kitchen, showed us what had been cooked that day and told us about the ingredients used. The slow cooked lamb was delicious. The house we stayed in was great- everything we needed for a weeks stay. We did some cooking but eating out was so cheap we didnt really bother after the first day or so. The house was one of 11 or 12 surrounding a pool area, very quiet and relaxing. It was within walking distance of a supermarket and the old town described above. We hired a car and went to Ephesus and Marys House which took us just over an hour and a half. We also went to chios by ferry from Cesme. It took about 30 minutes to Cesme and an hour on the ferry for 10 euros each. For the rest of the time we walked around alacati and relaxed by the pool. The owner, Ozlem was very helful in giving advice about where to eat, what to eat , where to hire bicycles and much, much more. We would certainly recommend this property and this part of Turkey to anyone. Hve fun!!
Beautiful, cool stone house, with loads of room for 6 people. Even when it was baking hot outside it was cool inside, with the sole exception of the smallest room during the day, solved by turning the fan on! The lush green lawn and deep pool were lovely and reality added to the relaxed atmosphere. We were there to attend a wedding at the Solto hotel which is fab, but I much preferred staying in this. Large supermarket located conveniently five minutes away, as is a bus stop and taxi point. The village is a further five minutes walk, where there are loads if good restaurants and bars as well as shops which while touristy does not feel commercial and the whole place has a charming feel to it. (we went in Sept) the Saturday market was definitely worth a little exploring with its colourful veg and fruit displays. If you are lucky enough to visit, you must try the peaches and the green figs which are just lush! Another thing to try is the windsurfing, you will need to take a taxi over to the beach which is about 20tl (or you can bus it, but if there are a few if you then taxi is the same) which is awesome. Bear in mind winds seem to favour beginners in the afternoon rather than morning. I had an excellent 2hr lesson with Derya at but there are quite a few operators in the area. Ozlem is a star, she was super helpful arranging transport to and from the airport despite the difficult times and multiple trips, as well as being generally helpful with telling us about the area. It just made things really easy for us. Thanks so much for a great stay! I would definitely go back given the opportunity.

Lovely villa, and a good size even when there were five of us. Beds were comfortable and most of the rooms were cool and quiet too. Pool was slightly on the small side but clean and very modern. The local supermarket (Tesco-owned!?) was just a couple of minutes walk, which was invaluable for a self-catering villa, especially if you dont have a car. We had a great stay and the owner was very helpful especially as none of us spoke Turkish. Thanks, and recommended!
experience was fantastic - booking was v straightforward even though we changed our dates : owner was extremely helpful with practical stuff, airport transfers and even a second change of dates whilst we were actually there. Thought property itself is lovely - relaxed surroundings and attractive interior. It was very clean & furnished welcomingly and tastefully with perfect balance of anything you need at hand , without any sense of living in someone elses space definitely recommend
It is a nice little house in a compound with a common pool. It is well equipped . The new neighbors are friendly (but follow the pool rules !!!) and the owner Ozlem is a wonderful person. She was VERY helpful .The house is a few minutes walking zo the restaurants and shopping. the windsurf bay a few minutes driving with bus or car. There isalso a bus connection to Ilica with its nice white sand beach, bars and restaurants. We also recommend the beach clubs, spreaded all around the peninsula. All in all it was a wonderful stay and Ozlem and her little villa made our time in Alacati to an unforgettable time. We love to come back again !!!Thanks again for pampering us, Ozlem! Big hug Carola & sons
