Villa Daisy, Citlik, Turkey

Villa with 4 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms and swimming pool in Akyaka, Turkey

From £522 per week

Villa Daisy is located on the South West Coast of Turkey in a village called Citlik, surrounded by National Trust land.

Overview

It is just a beautiful place. Our Villa is a large 4 bedrooms detached, with a large swimming pool, nestled up its own private driveway. There is over an acre of land, with olive trees, orange and lemon trees. The villa and pool are totally private and not overlooked by any houses,The views are fantastic. The property has been refurbished for Summer 2014, so there will be new furniture and fittings, internet, telephone, CCTV and a burglar alarm.

Akyaka is the nearest beach and village. Dramatic mountains rising steeply behind, a gulf of turquoise blue waters with sandy beaches stretching out within Gökova Bay and nestled between the characteristic red-roofed, white-washed houses with intricate pine-timbered eaves and balconies strewn with brilliant pink bougainvilleas -this is Akyaka.
Akyaka village became famous for its Mugla style architecture made famous by the award winning architect Nail Cakirhan. The houses are a combination of old Ottoman Empire and Greek style and maintains warmth in the winter and coolness in the summer. The original design has altered since and only retains a residue of the original architecture, nevertheless the village is very pretty.
In spite of its recent growth, Akyaka remains both scenically stunning and relatively unspoilt. Many city dwelling Turks have chosen Akyaka for their summer houses and great conservation efforts have been made to ensure that all these buildings are constructed in the traditional Mugla style with pan tiled roofs and intricately carved wooden ceilings and verandas, an interesting contrast to the usual Mediterranean style of architecture. The village has numerous food shops and a village bakery plus a permanent fruit and vegetable market. There is an excellent choice of restaurants ranging from specialist kebab makers and family run restaurants to the slightly more sophisticated riverside restaurants where fresh water trout is offered alongside a selection of delicious bream, bass and mullet. Gökova village is about 5 minutes inland from Akyaka and is the holiday residence of many wealthy Turkish families.

A car is essential when renting this property. Although public transport does run along the bottom of the road.

What is nearby
Marmaris is a super Turkish holiday resort, with a port and boat rides around the coast. There is plenty of shopping with a large bazaar, where you can find lots of good quality cheap handbags, sports gear particularly football kits for only £10.00.
There are also 2 or 3 large european style supermarkets where you can buy almost anything. Wine and beer tend to be at a similar price to the UK.

There are also water parks and rides for the children and lots of ice cream.

Akyaka/ Dalyan
The nearby beach of Akyaka is just 5 minutes in the car and is a beach frequented by a lot of Turkish people who have bought villas here. It is really charming and unspoilt. Great beach for children as it is really shallow. Nice walks and childrens play area. Lots of restaurants and shops. Also you can rent sun beds and umbrellas very cheap.

The historic resort of Dalyan is only about 25 minutes away by car, where you can see the ruins and take boat rides to the mud baths. The kids will love it. These tend to be all day excursions and good value for money. A very pretty resort.

There are also golf courses in the region and lots more being built around Dalaman.

I stayed there with my family for one week it is really in a very good location but u will need a car for sure to go around. The swiming pool, the rooms and everything was very clean and tidy bring ur pool toys with you as you will enjoy every moment. The breeze at night is very good. The only down part that around the villa we found 2 scorpions one of them in the bedroom but small cute ones lol; unlike arabic black scorpions; So takecare if you ve got young children. It is open to the wild with no fences at all which sometimes at night it becomes a bit scary to go outside espcially if you sleep late.

Lovely, large property in real Turkey away from all other tourists but near enough to beach resorts for those who need. Some very nice real Turkish places to visit where you can meet the very friendly locals.

From Beyoglu/istanbul, Turkey Sep 2007

Unfortunately the hotel we booked had been closed to tourists and so nearly all the facilities advertised were not available. eg swimming pool, restaurant, cinema, ice skating rink, shop. All that was available to us was the extras that had to be paid for like sauna etc. The actual apartment was very nice but because of the problems had no heating and no hot water until about 10.30 which made going out for the day very late if you wanted a shower. No hot water in evening so couldnt do that way round! The apartment was also very poorly equipped. There was no cooking utensils, microwave as advertised etc. there really was only the basics. I wish we had been informed of these problems and given the option to cancel.

The owner was ever so helpful in providing more than enough information for an immensely enjoyable holiday. The villa was large enough for our party of nine to enjoy together or alone as indivduals. The villa is far enough away from civilisation to enjoy the peace and tranquility but close enough to all the local facilities. There was enough activities in the surrounding areas to keep all amused. Then there was the wonderful pool for everyone to chill out and sun bathe around. The contact at the villa was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The owner provided a very honest description and we would consider a holiday here again. Another attraction around the villa was the local wildlife like small lizards, tortoise and red squirrels.

In terms of value for money, it will be very difficult for us to top Villa Daisy with our next holiday. Ive never stayed in such a spacious villa - each of the bigger bedrooms felt like a studio apartment in itself, the lounge and kitchen/diner are huge, and the pool is both large and deep. We took two children and two teenagers with us and never felt like any of us were under each others feet. The villa is very secluded, which made it hard to find at first but meant that we never had to worry that we were making too much noise.

The town of Akyaka is very sweet and quite unspoilt, and both children and teenagers enjoyed the safe, blue-flag beach. There are plenty of places to eat nearby to suit a range of budgets and basic groceries can be bought in the town for self-catering. Car hire is absolutely essential as its about a 15 min drive to the town.

The main downside was the erratic electricity and water supply, the owner had warned of us this in advance as she had had similar problems during her stay, and it did become a bit of a problem as we had to make a lot of calls to the property maintenance guy. Also we were not sent the detailed instructions about the house and local area which we should have received. However, the owner responded promptly and politely to my feedback and the utility problems do appear to be beyond her control and related to general problems with the local supply.

Villa daisy is an excellent villa and i would a dvise you to go there!

Wow...Having experienced a villa holiday, I am definately not going back to package holidays!! To have the use of such a well positioned and stunning swimming pool was awesome...perfect for those moonlit midnight swims, to cool down and gaze over the lights in the valley below. Practically speaking, the villa was in a fantastic position. The nearby resort of Akyaka was a lovely place and the restaurants and shops there were first class..You won't get any hassle here at all, which sadly can't be said of the nearby resort of Maramis. There really was an abundance of restaurants in the area which served fantastic Turkish food, that was unbelievably cheap and we really felt as though we had spoiled ourselves rotten every night. The villa was quiet and the perfect relaxing holiday. We found that it was just a short 45 minutes drive from the airport and very easy to find. The villa was clean and well equipped. I know it sounds a bit cheesy, but I have to say that our stay at the villa was one of the best holidays that I have ever been on!! Kids included !!!!

We had a wonderful holiday. The views from the Villa of the mountains and pine forest are stunning. The pool is just wonderful, so relaxing. A very well equipped villa, with all new fixtures and fittingsAngela Summerfield, Gt Totham, England

My husband and I own this beautiful villa and it is our family home abroad. We only rent it out a few weeks of the year just to cover the running costs. We spend about a month in Turkey each year and we love this area for its natural beauty.
