Penelope

From Nice, France

The villa was really lovely. The main bedroom with ensuite bathroom is separated by the outside staircase and is very spacious and light. The main lounge is very comfortable but it might be awkward if you needed to use it for the 3rd bedroom as the sofa is a double bed. There is an attached bathroom. The kitchen is very small and basically equipped if you were relying on eating in. The 2nd bedroom is outside, downstairs and rather basic, with attached bathroom but fine for children. The manager of the property was quite delightful and really helpful. The grounds are very well laid out and maintained. There are beaches on both sides of the island within easy walking distance. It is very quiet and peaceful. The only problem is a dispute between the private owners and the owner of the land who did not want us to use the swimming pool. This seems to be more of a verbal harrassment than an actuality, as we did use it! Otherwise we would highly recommend this property and the island of Koh Mak, which is very definitely a children, young family orientated island.

A fantastic property, clean well equiped, great location, excellent maid service. This is a lovely island well worth a visit. Garry is so helpful with your booking and making arrangements for you so your holiday is perfect and stressfree. The people on the island are so kind and helpful, they go out of their way to make your stay a fantastic one.
Things to bear in mind
Take a touch, the road down to the beach, bars, restaurants is quite dark. Dont let this put you off with a torch its fine.
If you are using all three rooms bear in mind the middle room is combined with the dining room, this did not bother us at all as the food is so amazing / cheap on the island we didnt ever feel the need to cook at the villa.
Would book again without hesitation,
Thank you so much Garry for letting us use your amazing property if only for a week

Had a week in Coconut Villa after several weeks touring northern Thailand. It was an ideal period of peace and calm after being constantly on the move. A good variety of bars with characters as different as their owners are dotted around the pleasently compact island, which despite its small size has some beautiful beaches that are hidden away down tracks that are deserted where you can be completely alone if you want. Or you can go "right" along the shore line a little way and hang out with a slightly alternative crowd who have their own little village of huts tucked into the woods off the beach. More than enough restauarants, all of them good but some of them excellent - check with the regulars and ex-pats for which restaurants are on a hot streak. The Holiday Beach restaurant about 15 minutes from Coconut Villa does the best best fried red curry ever - so long as the owners wife is doing the cooking, he does not mind if you go in and say youll have the meal if the wife is cooking it! Dec 2011 Very good swimming and Kayaking straight off the beach, there are other busier beaches if that is what you want, as well as boats trips which combine diving, snorkelling, swimming and just sitting back admiring the view. Oh and by the way, the speedboat ride out to the the islands from the port of Trat is terrific, I felt like I was sitting in the TV screen of a David attenborough documentary. "Ill be back!"

The house is situated on the picturesque private island Koh Mak, just 3 minutes walk from the beach. The people living on Koh Mak are welcoming and warm-hearted, so you can relax and feel like at home. Jan 2013 The house has three floors, with one bedroom and one bathroom on each floor and a kitchen on the middle floor. All facilities: TV, fridge, air cons etc. are provided. Furthermore there is a large sitting area outside, so you can enjoy the sun and beautiful view of the garden. The houseowner is very helpful and nice. On the island you find a lot of restaurants, bars, can ride on elephants, do snorkelling, scuba-diving and simply explore the island by scooter. I wil strongly recommend the house for especially couples and families

I stayed in the Coconut Villa in Nov 11 for 5 days and we enjoyed it very much. Dec 2012 We were greated by Khun Oi who provided and excellent service during our stay. The villa is surrounded by beautiful banana trees and offers stunning views to the sea. We plan on going back soon.

SEPT 2013 We spent almost a month at Coconut Villa - I took my 4 children aged 4-9 and they described this as the best holiday ever - the house is beautifully appointed, all the rooms are nicely decorated and it is well looked after - cleaned every day - in a lovely garden with a nice swimming pool and in walking distance of 2 beaches and several restaurants and cafes. Although august is low season there was easily enough still running, and we felt very lucky to have these lovely beaches to ourselves. We were brilliantly looked after by Mr Ball and Oi, who welcomed us very warmly and catered for our every need from finding internet access to arranging a trip over the border to Cambodia. Garry was also really helpful about arranging our travel from the airport and helping us to find somewhere to stay overnight en route. Our holiday here far exceeded our expectations - Although for much of it I was alone with 4 small children I never felt anything other than completely safe. One tip to anyone coming to stay - do get a local SIM card so that you have a phone to use here - you will need it for taxis and for contacting Ball and Oi if there is anything you need. Thank you so much to all 3 of you, Ball, Oi and Garry, for our lovely holiday.

NOV 2013 Lovely house with really useful layout - the three main rooms all have bathrooms en suite. We came as a couple but thought we could have brought at least one other couple with us. We spent most of our time on the top floor where there is a beautiful sitting place (a gazebo?)and a full balcony with beautiful views. You can sit up there and feel part of the garden with the birds singing and the trees all around. The bedroom was comfortable - wonderful bed! The location is fine, quiet and within easy reach of the main island areas. We were able to walk to most areas of interest and found some lovely viewpoints. The restaurant next door to the resort is excellent. We visited in January 2014 which meant we had wonderful weather so the whole thing was very relaxing.
