Where to go in Spain
Whilst there are seventeen distinct regions of Spain the most popular holiday destinations are:

- The Mediterranean Balearic Islands;
- The southerly Costa del Sol in Andalucía;
- The Costa Brava in Catalonia;
- Costa Blanca, the coastline of Alicante.
When to go
Spain, with the Balearic and Canary Islands, covers a large area and has a varied climate. The Canaries, off the north coast of Africa, are famous for their winter sun whilst Spain's most famous ski resorts are only a couple of hours away from Barcelona.
The warmest regions are in the centre and south eastern parts of the Spanish mainland. The Mediterranean costas, from Costa del Sol in the south west to Costa Brava in the north west, generally have the most pleasant weather. They can be mild in the winter and are not overwhelmingly hot in the summer.
For year-round winter sun the Canary Islands offer a consistent sub tropical temperatures. In January and February it can be a mild 20 degrees Celsius whilst in peak summer it rarely exceeds 30 degrees.
