Apartment overview - owner's description

Lovely 2 bedroom ground floor apartment (sleeps 4) with lovely private patio garden and direct access to residents pool.

This lovely apartment sleeping 4 has direct access to the resident’s pool and gardens so is ideal for families with children wanting to keep an eye on them in the pool. Adults can sit on the terrace while the children can play outside with other children. 2 sunbeds are provided and a parasol keeps you cool while you eat al fresco. Being south-west facing it means that you have sun all day until sunset.

Located in the heart of the Arenal sandy beach area, near the shops, restaurants and bars, shops and cafés, Golden Beach is ideal for those not wishing to use a car while on holiday. There is a good supermarket just around the corner and just a 5 minute stroll from the sandy beach.

The local area:

The apartment complex is located ia short walk from the sandy beach area which is brimming with restaurants, bars and shops. You don´t need a car whilst you are there but you may find it handy for getting to and from the airport and if you do wish to explore further afield.

Javea is divided into 3 areas:

Arenal (sandy beach) - obviously popular in the warmer months, with plenty of shops, restaurants, cafés and bars. The beach is in a crescent shape and is very shallow so excellent for younger children. Beside the canal you can hire a speed boat to explore the Javea´s natural coves and bays, inaccessible on foot. Nearby on the rocky beach north of the Arenal are numerous beach bars and more sea-front restaurants as well as jet-ski and windsurf hire.

The Port - about 2km from the sandy beach you arrive at the port. Still a small picturesque working fishing village, the port has a wonderfully authentic atmosphere with many pedestrian areas where families spend warm summer evenings either at one of the many restaurants or cafés while they watch their children play.

The Old Town - steeped in tradition, Javea´s old town is one of the prettiest villages on the Costa Blanca. Located up a hill leaving the port, this is the original village of Javea and still inhabited by local families. The atmosphere here is "true Spanish" with no sign of souvenir shops and where the local people tend to live, shop and work. The daily fresh food market is in the historic almost pedestrian centre where you will also find restaurants and the real Spanish tapas bars.

We found the Golden Beach complex to be ideally located, a short walk from the lovely beach and promanade and all it has to offer. Its also close enough to walk to the nearest of the fab summer beach bars over towards the marina area. The gardens and pool area are beautiful and really well maintained while we thought it odd and a bit inconvenient when we first learned that the pool was closed from 3.00-5.00 every afternoon for cleaning and siesta, we soon appreciated the peace and quietness that offered.
The apartment itself is modern, bright and well equiped, though was maybe on the tight side for 4 adults and a baby. It was very easy to find with the instructions and we were warmly welcomed by the team at the rental office, a short distance away. As to any suggestions for improvement - it would be good to have a few light, foldable sun loungers and an umbrella that could be taken out to allow you to lie at the pool area (there are no beds provided there) and safety deposit box for valuables like passports.

For the price we paid I think the property should have airconditioning. I took it for granted and was surprised that we only had fans in the ceiling. Also we lacked the inventory list which was supposed to be in the guest book (but wasn´t there). Some of the furniture needed cleaning or replacing (tasty but delicate colours full of marks). The parasol in the terrace kept falling down and had a cigarette burn . The shower in the swimming pool did not work and swimming pool needed repair (partly not in use). It is time to take quality seriously if Spain wants to keep up with its competitors.
We liked the area though and we are planning to rent a similar property or a house for a couple of months this winter.

A nice apartment with very big terrace which was great and very good access to pool. Fridge didnt work properly and there were no instructions as to what setting it should be it. Reported it to rental company and someone came out same day and set fridge, however, it never worked properly whole time we were there - fortunately our friends were in apartment next door so we put some stuff in there but it was a nuisance but something we should have gone back and reported. Very good access to beach and good supermarket very close by. Only 2 negative comments for us was that there was only 1 set of keys to apartment issued which is the rule of the rental company. 2 sets of keys with 4 sharing would have made a big difference and was actually quite restricting. Another issue that we have never encountered on a Spanish holiday before (and we have been on many) is that the pool closed from 3 til 5 everyday which was really very restricting. We appreciated the pool needed to be cleaned but couldnt understand the timining of that as most residents left pool area around lunchtime but were ready to be back in by 3.00pm as opposed to leaving it then! That was a real nuisance as it was very hot and we were all desperate to get back in - certainly by 5.00pm alot of residents were hanging round waiting to get back into pool. If 2 sets of keys could be issued and the pool closed between 1.00 and 3.00 pm it would have made a big difference to our holiday though overall we enjoyed our apartment and the positioning of it.

We are sorry you did not report the fridge problem to us. Once you reported it on your departure, we sent a techician who has fixed the problem. The guide in the apartment explains that between the hours of 3 and 5 it is Spanish siesta time and the pool is closed. The pool cleaner is able to clean the pool at this time of the day as it is not being used. With regards an extra key, we do have a extra sets in the office for all the apartments we look after and our manual asks that you contact us if you need anything to make your stay more comfortable. However, as we do not mention the extra set of keys specifically in the manual, we will add this so future guests are aware.
