Las Dos Palmeras: on arrival

The Two Palm Trees (there's one in front of and one next to the house) are the most striking feature of our villa and immediately summon up the holiday feeling. One of the palms also has a unique dual function: it acts as a mounting point for our hammock. Feel free and don't forget to mix yourself a parasol drink to top it off. The beauty of the villa is that it has it all: you pick a sunny solarium, a shady spot on the side porch or - particularly in winter - the great shelter of the conservatory on the front terrace. Slide open the windows and doors of that same conservatory and you get a delicious fresh space in the summer for eating or lounging.

Las Dos Palmeras: inside

For those who might find it a bit chilly in deepest winter (yes, it can be like that) we have on offer - apart from the hot / cold air conditioning - a cosy wood burner in the living room. The living room also comes equipped with a sofa bed and a lovely relaxing couch. Cable TV (138 channels, English, Spanish, German, French) and wi-fi (100mb fibre optic) come free of charge and for the fanatic there is also a Blu-ray / DVD / CD player and a modest DVD library. The kitchen comes equipped with electric cooker, large refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. On this floor you will also find a bathroom with toilet and shower.

On the first floor - next to the family bathroom with bath, shower, toilet and bidet - are two bedrooms. The guest bedroom is equipped with a ceiling fan and a (portable) fan/heater. The master bedroom has hot/cold air conditioning and direct access to the balcony through the sliding doors.

Another flight of stairs gets you to the roof terrace or solarium, as we in Spain prefer to call it :-) A lovely spot to work on your tan, have a barbecue or simply enjoy the view.

The villa is suitable for a party of max. 6, thanks to the double sofa bed in the living room and adjustable tables in living room and conservatory.

You can park your car for free either on our own driveway next to the house or - if you prefer - on the parking lot of the urbanisation.

Pinada Golf II

Our urbanisation or community, Pinada Golf II, is located on a hill, so from the solarium you have great views over the coastline and the sea. I dare you not to become a hopeless romantic watching the lights of Orihuela Costa and Torrevieja in the distance on a nice summer evening. Walk down the street to arrive at the pride of our urbanisation: the beautifully landscaped, large swimming pool where you can take a swim underneath the palm trees. Open year round, fully equipped with a safe children's area and of course for free, for you as a guest.

A holiday in Orihuela Costa

Our holiday villa Las Dos Palmeras is situated in Villamartin, a village near the beaches of the very popular holiday area of ​​Orihuela Costa on the Costa Blanca (nearest beach: La Zenia at 6 km or a 10 min. drive). It’s just far enough from the busy coastal area to avoid all the hustle and bustle, but at the same time close enough to arrive at the beaches in no time. Incidentally: free parking is the rule over here! The beaches are among the finest in Spain (Blue Flag!) and there are many to choose from.

Villamartin is something of a green oasis: not only is it surrounded by four beautiful golf courses (plus an additional four within a half hour's drive), it also pays special attention to the landscaping. Within walking distance of the villa is the famous Villamartin Plaza with the busily twittering wild parrots, who btw also belong to the regular visitors of our pool (its palmtrees, that is ;-). In the courtyard of the Plaza you can enjoy a lovely dinner at one of its many restaurants, with live music in season. You'll find a convenience store and several bars/restaurants just around the corner and it's five minutes to Mercadona and Dialprix supermarkets.

For fun shopping visit La Zenia Boulevard, 4 kilometres away, on entering Orihuela Costa. This huge mall, which opened in 2012, is by far the largest shopping mall in this part of Spain. Or, if you're going for cheap, pay a visit to one of the many Chinese warehouses, the nearest of which is located at the Villamartin Plaza. Probably the biggest is the Euro Market, along the N332.


Did we mention Villamartin has four excellent golf courses nearby? The Villamartin Golf Club is the nearest one, within a kilometre of your doorstep. And if you're still not happy you'll find four more within an half hour's drive of Villamartin. A very informative site on the subject is costa-blanca-greenfees (look for 'Torrevieja').

We stayed for a few weeks February into March. The house has everything you need for a stay and is in a convenient location for walking into Villa Martin or La Fuente if you are relatively fit. You do need a car, however, if you want to go to the beach or venture further afield. Agent is contactable if needed.

Понравилось практически все: до пляжей всего 15 минут на автомобиле, 10 минут до шикарного торгового центра Ла Зения, очень тихая урбанизация, милые и отзывчивые соседи, парковочное место во дворе дома, наличие всей необходимой бытовой техники, теневая сторона (прохладно летом), быстрый интернет. Хозяин Жан был всегда на связи, хотя никаких проблем за все время не возникло. Отличный бассейн с ухоженной территорией в 5 минутах пешком. С удовольствием вернёмся снова. The villa is located in a great position - short walks in all directions to a variety of restaurants and bars. And, only a short drive to La Zenia Beach The agents were really helpful and had ensured the villa was impeccably clean. All of the rooms were very well furnished and all the equipment in working order! We really enjoyed the conservatory and spent most of our time out there.

We had a lovely 17 day stay here july 2016. The hosts are very forthcoming, and they provide a lot of information before the stay. We had good contact points during the stay. This is a nice house in a quiet street with kind neighbours. Good beds and madrasses are worth mentioning. Just down the street, a great clean pool, not very crowded during our stay. We reccomend staying here!

The house is central to local amenities such as bars. A short walk into Villamartin Plaza. A car is useful to visit La Zenia boulevard which is 10 minutes drive away. It was spotlessly clean and it contained everything needed for a relaxing holiday. We felt very much at home here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this typically Spanish villa. Truly good value for money. The hosts provided us with everything we needed, including a helpful list of things to do in the area. The villa was clean, tidy, and well equipped, and key handover on arrival and departure was well coordinated and went smoothly. The villa is well situated, within a few minutes drive of several top golf courses, shopping centres, beaches, pubs and restaurants, but without the hustle and bustle of coastal properties. There are a couple of bars and restaurants and a small convenience store within easy walking distance. We visited the villa mid-winter, so didn’t use the communal pool, but I am sure it is fantastic during those hot summer months. The good internet connection made keeping in touch with the world really easy. We were made to feel really welcome by the hosts, and can certainly recommend this villa to anybody (especially families) wanting to explore this stunning region in Spain.

We'll have to wait another ten years or so (work, kids, tax man, etc.) before we can say goodbye to Holland and move to our Spanish dream home ourselves.
