This lovely ground floor apartment is situated on an attractive low rise gated complex in a quieter residential area conveniently situated near Torrevieja town and La Mata (3 mins drive), on the South Costa Blanca coast in the province of Alicante, Spain, yet within easy reach of all amenities. The nearest beach to us is called Torrelamata, which is a long sandy, blue flag beach and around a 20 minute walk or 2 minute drive away. We are only 40 minutes drive from both Alicante and Murcia airport as we are pitched between the two. There is something for everyone in the area, whether it's bars and restaurants - even the odd karaoke bar and nightclub are easily reached - or a quiet relaxing holiday, for family, couples or older singles you will find it all. There is an excellent bus service to both Torrevieja and La Mata town centres, both which hold their weekly, very popular markets.

Open all year round , the stunning pool has a reputation as the best pool in the area and is built as three crystal blue swimming pools with a separate children’s pool. Lush ,shaded gardens, with benches and showers for your comfort , surround the pools and there is plenty of room for sunbathing and relaxing. You can see the sea and the seaside town of La Mata from the pool area and gardens which are very stylishly laid out. I have been there many times when I have had the whole area to myself.

Built as an L shaped , the patio / garden is spacious and well equipped with garden furniture and four sun loungers and a small free standing barbeque, enabling you to enjoy Al Fresco drinking and dining on a warm summer’s evening. Being south facing the patio enjoys several hours of sunshine. Set on a private complex of pretty apartments built on two levels , means there is only one apartment directly above ours and as the owners are rarely there it makes for a quiet and private holiday. There are two bedrooms - one double and one twin and 1 double sofa bed in the lounge / diner. We can sleep up to six you don't mind a bit of a squeeze as there is only the one bathroom and a leather sofa as well as the double sofa bed.

The bathroom has a bath, shower, bidet , wc, bathroom cupboard and stylish mirror. It is nicely tiled from ceiling to floor and the floor is fully tiled too. There are attractive tiles throughout the apartment and we have furnished the walls with mirrors and pictures , along with neutral colours. The furnishings are simple and in neutral colours too and we have plenty of lamps in the bedrooms and front room, providing a bright and airy feel throughout . The American kitchen is well equipped with full oven, hob, fridge / freezer, microwave, toaster, iron and ironing board and an extensive range of crockery and utensils for guests use. A hatch and arch lead through to the lounge / diner which has an extendable dining table and four dining room chairs. There is a glass coffee table and sideboard for the 32” bran new flat screen TV with UK SAT TV and DVD player on the side board. Wall units and shelves house various sizes of glasses, books and DVDs and a CD / Radio Cassette player which you are welcome to borrow and use during your stay. For your ultimate comfort air conditioning is fitted on a card meter which can be purchased from our property managers Garry and Lesley and provides controlled cold air and heating, and there are three free standing fans . For winter evenings, there is a free standing portable gas heater. There is plenty of storage space, both inside and outside the apartment, and beach toys , mats and umbrellas plus jigsaws which you are welcome to use.

Although most of the surrounding complex is flat there are a three steps up and down the path accesses which means wheelchair access could be a problem. There is ample parking in the road alongside the complex.
Directly opposite the complex is an English run pub / restaurant ‘La Hispaniola Ship’ . Along from here is a very friendly and reasonable Spanish bar / restaurant , Bar Bahia Blanca which has a pool table and sometimes live music. Behind Calle Perseo there is a Sports Bar for those keen to keep up to date with the latest events. There is a bus stop directly outside the complex which has buses to Torrevieja market, main bus station and Marina. Also round the corner there is an express bus to Torrevieja town centre and La Mata beach and town.

For internet access, safety deposit boxes and general help and advice there is an English run internet café 5 minutes walk away and directly opposite a hair and beauty salon. Within a five minute walk a new small attractive shopping centre has opened, called Torremarina. Amongst it’s shops there is a ‘Mercadona’ supermarket - very popular with locals as it is very reasonably priced, also , a florist, souvenir shop ,a variety of shops - clothes and gift shops, chemist and dentist. There are also a few bars and restaurants, thus widening the choice of places you can stroll to on a warm evening. One of our favourites is the Chinese ‘Mandarin’ restaurant which has a three course menu of the day, including a half bottle of wine starting at 6 euros each!!

For golf lovers there are several championship courses in the area. Some of the nearest are La Marquesa 15 km ,Villamartin 15km , Real (Royal) Campoamor 16km, Algorfa 17km away. They allow you to book and play as a guest and if you fancy really treating yourself there is an exclusive and highly recommended restaurant at the prestigious Real (Royal) Campoamor Golf Club which visitors can use.

The biggest market in Spain is held in Torrevieja town on a Friday morning where a variety of purchases can be made. Torrevieja is situated next to the sea in the south of the Valencian Community. It is surrounded by two large natural saltwater lagoons that form the well-known "Salterns of Torrevieja", which are considered to be the biggest in Europe and second in the world. Some people bathe in the salt lakes as they are renowned for their healing properties. There are several churches to visit in the town, The Archpriest's Parish Church of the Inmaculada Concepción being the most famous in the main square in Torrevieja ‘Plaza de la Constitution’. The building of this church on the site of former temples began in 1880.It holds the statue of the town’s patron saint, La Purisima Concepcion. This image arouses popular fervour in Torrevieja, especially on the two occasions a year that it is taken out for processions. One of the main attractions to Torrevieja are the variety of festivals and carnivals which take place every month.

There are many beautiful beaches, squares, walks, parks, gardens and other natural beauty spots (Ferriz), as well as some wonderful historical monuments such as the 'Modernist Casino' which dates from the beginning of the century and has a famous hall in the mozarabic style. Also there is the 'Recinto de las Eras de la Sal' an open, air theatre. There are a variety of restaurants and bars catering for all tastes, pockets and ages plus a good choice of shops from budget to designer. On the outskirts of the town centre there is the popular ‘Habaneras shopping centre’ with the Ozone complex next door which has an English cinema and bowling alley. There are also several large hypermarkets with a huge selection of goods for sale at very reasonable prices, even with the fall of the pound against the euro. You can take boat trips from the port, there is a funfair next to Torrevieja Marina and a variety of activities are available within a 10 minute drive, including go karting and a zoo. There is also a very popular waterpark, Aquapolis, open June to September within a 5 minute drive. In the area several school's offer you the chance to do some Scuba Diving, Sea Fishing, and Jet Skiing and for the more adventurous there is also Horse Riding Establishments and Hot Air Ballooning nearby.

If you fancy live entertainment whilst you are enjoying a meal, the Celtic Manor, next to Super Valu supermarket, is approximately a 10 minute walk away, often has singers, bands and flamenco shows. For the more energetic there is also cycle hire across the road from the Celtic Manor enabling you to explore the area including the protected salt lakes and pretty conservation areas nearby. Fishing is also a popular pastime from the local beaches and rocks nearby.

A ten minute walk will bring you to the Las Lomas commercial centre which has bars, restaurants, small shops , a small childrens play area, taxi rank and another bus stop to take you to Torrevieja along the coastal road or, in the other direction to La Mata. At La Mata are the remains of the old port at Torrevieja, called the Embarcadero Romano, or Roman Docks. Along this coast are the ancient watchtowers called El Moro and La Mata, used in the Middle Ages to warn the coastal inhabitants of attacks by Barbary pirates. La Mata is a smaller, more village like town than Torrevieja and the bus takes you into the town centre, just near the square, by the beautiful sandy beach, which is a gathering point for the locals, especially of an evening when they take their stroll. La Mata is a traditional small Spanish town with a friendly atmosphere. There are pretty bars and restaurants, catering for all tastes, budgets and cuisines, for a beachside drink or meal. If you prefer to walk there is wooden promenade from Torrelamata beach (nearest to our apartment), right along to La Mata town, taking you through some pretty beachside parkland. There are several tasteful bars lining the beach and along the promenade to stop and enjoy the view of the aqua blue warm sea and never ending sandy beach and dunes . The beach at the La Mata town end is particularly attractive and there is a children’s play park and keep fit equipment which are popular with tourist and locals alike. On a Wednesday morning a market is held in the colourful back streets where many a bargain can be found.

The next resort along from La Mata on this spectacular coastline is Guardamar. We recommend a visit to the stunning beach there, which boast a superb Pine and Eucalyptus Forest, ideal for Picnics and Bar-B-Q’s. Slightly further North is the resort and old Spanish town of La Marina where you enjoy a game of Bowls, in it’s that welcomes guest visitors.

The Costa Blanca is an ideal location for some of the most magnificent beaches in Spain, which vary from small coves to long stretches of golden sand with sand dunes. The climate is excellent, with over 300 days of sunshine, and the surrounding area is steeped in history. The Salt lakes and these lagoons help to draw the moisture out of the air, as well as being the home to hundreds of Flamingo's. Combined with a low rainfall (approx 11 days a year), this creates a microclimate with low humidity, which makes the Torrevieja region ideal for asthma, rheumatism, and arthritis sufferers.

The end of stay cleaning/laundry fee is 35 euros, or 40euros if you take a dog or cat with you. We can either arrange either an airport transfer to/from Alicante or Murcia for 40 euros each way per four passengers or five with hand luggage or meet and greet for 10 euros if you prefer to make your own way to the apartment. Throughout your stay our English property managers, Lesley and Garry, can help you with any queries or advise you as necessary. They are extremely helpful and there to make your stay an enjoyable one. Please remember to take your European Health Card, which has replaced the E111.

From the minute we arrived at the apartment to the minute we left we had an amazing time, the apartment itself was excellent, clean tidy and comfortable. The outside living space exceeded our expectations, loads of space for us to just relax and enjoy bbqs in the evening. The pool was excellent beautiful and clean very well maintained and looked after. Their is not one area we could fault which made our holiday 1 to remember.
