About Teguise

Apartments in Teguise district

Teguise is a town and district in Spain’s Canary Islands, located in central Lanzarote in the province of Las Palmas. Stretching from the capital, Arrecife, in the south and the region of Haria in the north, it is the largest district on the island, surrounded by the Atlantic, with the tranquil resort of Caleta de Famara on its west coast and the lively Costa Teguise to the east. Lanzarote Airport is a less than 20-minute drive away, and if you don’t fancy driving, there are local buses that stop along the area’s main cities, resorts and tourist spots. Lanzarote Airport also provides taxi, shuttle and mini bus services to Teguise.

Let the sun bathe you while you chill out on the beaches and coves of the Costa Teguise, a modern, purpose-built resort on the east coast, with Blue Flag beaches, excellent restaurants, water sports and easy access to the island’s main attractions, making it a great base for a lively beach holiday in the Canaries. Caleta de Famara is a surfer’s paradise on the district’s west coast and is the perfect place to let your hair down and get away from it all; or for peace and quiet, recharge your batteries on the quiet and pristine beaches of La Graciosa with white sand dunes and clear azure waters.

The surrounding region's wealth of historical sites, rich culture, beautiful dark sand beaches, spectacular landscape and a relaxed way of life away from the major tourist crowds are the reason why many people choose to holiday here. The 16th century Santa Barbara Castle in the hills of Guanapay mountain, housing Lanzarote Pirate Museum, is the perfect place to travel back in time and learn about the region’s fascinating past, or enjoy panoramic views of the whitewashed town houses from the top. Discover the traditional musical heritage of Lanzarote at the Timple House Museum, or take memories home with a souvenir from one of the bustling Sunday markets. For your own patch of paradise and for the more adventurous of holidaymakers, hire a bike and set off along the winding paths of La Graciosa island, or take a hike around the spectacular landscape of monte Corona Volcano. Aquapark Costa Teguise, Rancho Texas Lanzarote and Lanzarote Aquarium on the coast offer fun-filled activities for all the family.
