Santa Margalida is a small town about 45km from Palma, Majorca’s capital. It is the main town of the local municipality which consists of three towns: Santa Margalida itself, 10km inland from the coast, the larger town of Ca'n Picafort and Son Serra de Marina at the bay of Alcúdia.
Santa Margalida is a low key, rural town. The impressive Church of Santa Margalida is the key landmark and lies on a hill surrounding the town. It has amazing views across the north eastern part of Es Plà, or the great central plain of Majorca, with the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range on one side and Arta on the other.
