'CASA LAS JARAS - SALARES SPAIN'. This really is a superb location in which to spend a holiday. For those seeking a relaxing holiday amid wonderfully tranquil scenery this villa offers the perfect setting. Reached by 600 metres of rough track (a normal car hire is suitable), the house is set in a finca of 8,000 square metres, in the foothills of the Sierra Tejeda-Almijara.
This is a newly constructed villa with private pool (8 x 4m 1.4 - 1,9 m deep.). It has a delightful feeling of comfortable seclusion about it -yet it is perfectly situated for visits to the Málaga coast, while the historic city of Granada would make an excelelent day trip. It sands near the old Moorish village of Archez, approximately 30 minutes from the coast, and is set in the magnificent landscape of the Sierra Tejeda mountains, surrounded by vine-covered hills and a valley sweeping down to the sparkling blue sea in the distance. The surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for walking, particularly in the cooler months and Spring.
All on one level, this house is ideal for anyone looking for a lazy, relaxing holiday well away from the madding crowd but near enough to the villages of Archez, Canillas de Albaida and Competa for enjoying a night out in one of the many bars and restaurants.
The front shaded terrace has a built-in barbecue at one end and is ideal for outside dining whilst enjoying the panoramic views of the countryside (Natural Park). The Natural Park Sierra Tejeda-Almijara is a carefully preserved area of spectacularly natural beauty teeming with wildlife including deer, mountain goats, hawks and eagles. As well as heaven for nature-lovers, the park is also a walkers paradise. For a day on the beach, the sandy beaches of the Costa del Sol are not far away.
The house and the swimming pool area in particular, is in an enviable location, taking full advantage of the sweeping scenery and the hot Andalucían sun, tempered throughout this area by the altitude and the fresh mountain breezes. Its geographical location and the beauty of its scenery, makes this area a wonderful place for a holiday at any time of year. The villa is beautifully situated and perfect for rest, relaxation and really recharging the batteries.
For those who like to combine the usual holiday pursuits of swimming and sunbathing with some history and culture, there is plenty to see in this area.

Well what can we say... The most perfect weeks holiday we've ever had.
Casa Las Jaras is set in the hills, with the most wonderful scenery set out in front of it. The peace and quiet because of its idyllic setting was very relaxing. The Villa itself is beautifuly finished, with everything you would ever require there to hand. Very clean and tidy as you would hope for, and has a great swimming pool that was immaculately cleaned before out arrival. The owners were so helpful and met us at the village before you get to the villa, we followed them up and they pointed everything out that we would need to know. Loved our stay there and will be sure to return in the future.

PERFECT.....OUR BEST EVER HOLIDAY....
We are a mature couple, and had a fantastic, peaceful, relaxing three-week stay at Casa Las Jaras. We greatly enjoyed the villa, the setting, the local area, and the service provided by the owners Sebastian and Isabella. We have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending the villa.
The villa itself is situated in the hills of Axarquia, on the edge of the Tejeda National Park. It is on one level, with a large terrace, an ample pool, sun loungers, tables and chairs, poolside shower etc. The inside of the villa is very good too, with great facilities including satellite TV, wi-fi, air-conditioning, washing machine, dishwasher, etc.
The position of the villa on the hill provides a stunning view, and such a tranquil setting...... the villa is private, not overlooked, and there are paths and tracks to walk (and run) all around. It really is such a peaceful setting, and though there are other villas in the area, it is rare to see - or hear - another car (sometimes in the evenings we would watch car headlights 'snaking' their way up or down the hills opposite). As well as the local walks etc, the National Park is just behind the villa, and the villages of Archez and Salares are a brief drive away. Following owner Sebastian's suggestion, we also walked across the hill to Salares on one occasion (about 35-40 minutes there and a little longer to walk back up the hill..). We also really enjoyed visiting the nearby villages of Canillas de Albaida, Sedella, Canillas de Aceituno, Sayalonga, and the town of Competa. All of the (white-washed) villages are unique, beautiful, and the people are very friendly and generous. We are non-meat eaters ourselves, and had no problem in eating from a wide range of menus in all of the villages, visiting a different restaurant or bar every time. The food, the setting, and the service was fantastic wherever we went, and the prices were much cheaper than in the UK.
Sebastian and wife Isabella are exceptionally welcoming, helpful, and keen to ensure guests have a great holiday (Sebastian also speaks good English). They met us at nearby Archez to guide us to the villa, and Sebastian then came once a week to clean the pool. We had two water leaks whilst away on holiday - one back at home in the UK, and one on the road close to the villa (linked to the villa's water pipes). For the water leak close to the villa, Sebastian and Isabella left their jobs and commitments elsewhere, came as soon as they could get to the villa, dug up the road, and fixed the pipe immediately.... For the water leak back home in the UK (managed by our family back home) it took a week to be fixed - including that the worker had to leave on one occasion because he was 'too hot'... We have nothing but thanks and admiration to Sebastian and Isabella.
Overall, we confirm our thanks to Sebastian and Isabella for a fantastic villa, in the best of settings... We have holidayed in many great places, including about ten previous holiday villa holidays in Spain.
But this was genuinely, our best ever holiday.

This villa is a must if you want to get away from the crowds. It really is tucked away in the mountains but not so much that you feel isolated as you can see other villas perched on the hills in the distance. But they are far enough away for total privacy.
When I arrived to meet Sebastian it was night and dark but Sebastian drove up to the villa and I followed him and that is despite me being very late for my rendezvous. The first thing that struck me was the smell of pine and the sound of the crickets. I had to wait for the morning for the amazing views.
From the villa there are plenty of places to walk to. For example Salares which has a small shop good for bread/milk and a few essentials and bar next door. It was an uphill walk back but very do-able knowing there was a pool waiting for you to cool off in. I also took my mountain bike and cycled round the mountain paths through the national park. One you get to the top off the hill behind the villa these are relatively flat (although gravel and a little bumpy) for a good part of the way. I stopped before any major decent - just because I was too lazy to cycle back up! In the villa there are plenty of details of other walks and places of interest etc that you can drive to for day trips. If you want to leave the villa that is. I didn't feel the need apart from a quick drive down to Salayonga for supplies. It has a few more shops than Salares and somewhere to buy meat.
The villa itself has everything you need. It is clean, tidy and comfortable. It is pretty much as the pictures are. There are even very well written instructions on how to get back to the villa when you take your first trip out by car. Sebastian really has thought of everything to make your stay as stress free as it should be and is on hand should there be any issues. A fuse went during my stay and initially I couldn't turn it back on so I contacted Sebastian to check I had done everything I should. He responded immediately and then followed up with a phone call later to check it was OK.
I've mentioned the pool but it does deserve another mention - It is a good size, clean and deep (est 2m at one end) and you can swim lengths without catching the bottom at the shallower end (as I have found with other pools).
I was there at the end of October when the whole of Europe seemed to have an exceptionally warm October - I don't know if I was lucky or if that was the norm. I'll have to come back to test that. I used the pool every day which was fine temperature wise and sunbathed afterwards to dry off, even managed a little tan (good for someone fair skinned). The evenings were fine. Cooler but not to cold however there is a log burning fire or air con for heating if required.
Finally the drive. I had read some of the reviews that made reference to quality of the track. I was a little concerned as I was taking my own relatively new car but it was fine. Yes the driveway is steep (as are some of the concrete roads up to the villa) and yes the last part of the road to the house is not concreted but taken slowly it is absolutely fine A bit bumpy in places but I had no problems whatsoever.
I genuinely cannot think of any negatives except for the presence of a few wasps which are irritating (as I hate wasps) but given the location I was not surprised to see them.

My girlfriend and I visited in the first week of September for a quiet week in the sun.
The villa is very remote, genuinely it will take 30 mins from the motorway to get to the apartment, it is a a windy mountainous road (at times a dust track) with the most incredible views.
The Villa is PERFECT. Large lounge/dinning area, lovely bedrooms and bathroom and the air conditioning cools the entire villa superbly.
The views are unreal, the pool is fantastic and there are no neighbours even remotely close so you will have total quiet and privacy.
Sebastian was very fast to respond to questions and we loved staying there.

If you are looking for a peaceful holiday away from it all then this is definitely worth booking
A well appointed and equipped villa in beautiful surroundings but only 10 mins from the nearest village.
Many hours were spent by the pool enjoying the spectacular views and enjoying the peace and quiet, Virtually the only sound we could hear were the insects in the surrounding countryside.
Sebastian was incredibly friendly and helpful and although we had a minor problem with the air conditioning not working properly he couldn't have tried harder to ensure it was fixed as soon as possible and It certainly didn't spoil our stay.
We would definitely recommend staying here.

Entry to the house is into the light and airy, open-plan living/dining room with fireplace,T.V. set ) and DVD player, radio with audio tape and CD player the well-equipped kitchen is separated by an American style breakfast bar. The two bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin) have built-in wardrobes and are comfortably furnished with top quality beds. A baby cot and a highchair can be provided on request at no extra cost. There is a large fireplace and also an air conditioned machine in the living room and several electric heaters -mobile radiators- and fans for the bedrooms and bathroom, making this an ideal choice at any time of the year. The ceramic floors, beamed ceilings and good quality furniture are not only indicative of the owners good taste but also their eagerness to ensure that their guests are comfortable in their surroundings.
