Travel guide

Apartments in Puerto del Carmen

Puerto del Carmen is one of Lanzarote's most popular resorts, located in Tias district, 10 minutes from Lanzarote (ACE) Airport. Nestled on the island's south-eastern coast, it's the perfect base to explore Lanzarote’s main tourist and cultural attractions. Now an upscale resort boasting some of the best stretches of sand on the island, discover a coastline caressed by the Atlantic’s emerald waters, while the surrounding region begs to be explored.

Stay in one of our apartments in Puerto del Carmen to enjoy the best of this lively resort: beautiful architecture, an array of water sport activities, energetic crowds, an authentic atmosphere and a gentle golden coastline with plenty of amenities and entertainment to keep both adults and kids entertained. Once a humble fishing village, Puerto del Carmen has since transformed into a lively resort with a bustling harbour, flourishing with local restaurants and lovely little bars and cafes lining the ancient boulevard. Take a stroll down the streets of the old town and admire the remnants of its past that can be still seen in the typical Canarian architecture. The new town of Puerto del Carmen is a shoppers' paradise with a large cluster of shops, stores and high-end boutiques. Watch the world go by from the palm-lined beachfront promenade overlooking the distant volcanic peaks.

If you're after an authentic Canarian atmosphere, head to El Varadero harbour at the beachfront of the quaint and peaceful Old Town which still retains that authentic fishing-village feel. Watch the world go by while tasting authentic Spanish dishes at one of the many charming seafront restaurants, or enjoy a glass of quality Spanish wine at the resort’s traditional bars and pubs, with amazing views of the bobbing boats and lunar-like volcanic landscape.

Away from the harbour, Avenida de las Playas, a busy commercial heart of the resort otherwise known as Avenue of the Beaches, brings crowds of tourists from all over Europe. This long stretch of promenade offers a wealth of shopping opportunities; from small souvenirs shops in its centre to upmarket boutiques in the modern Biosfera Plaza shopping complex. The avenue is lined with palm trees and colourful subtropical plants ideal for a stroll in the warm sunshine. It’s a great spot to choose your perfect beach too.

If sun and sea are your cup of tea, then the 6km stretch of golden sandy beaches, washed by the waters of the Atlantic, should be enough to tempt you. There are three beaches in Puerto del Carmen and two of them fly the Blue Flag. The surrounding waters are considered to be some of the most tranquil in the Canary Islands, excellent for swimming and other water sport activities. The main beach, running along Avenida de las Playas promenade, is Playa Grande with its sun loungers, umbrellas and gently curving shoreline ideal for a fun day out with family. Take a 10 minute walk and you'll come to Playa in the Old Town. Quieter and more secluded, the diving centre makes it popular with snorkelers and scuba divers. To the east is Los Pocillos beach with plenty of holiday facilities and calm waters, making it a perfect spot for families with children.

There is so much to do in Puerto del Carmen; you definitely won’t be bored if you are looking for something more than just beaches and stretches of sand. The resort is home to a large number of dive centres and scuba diving is one of the most popular sports here, with perfect sea conditions. For the more energetic amongs you; Puerto del Carmen’s landscape is perfect for swimming, cycling and running, with various bike hire shops along the main beach promenade. Golfing enthusiasts will love the island's newest golf course, Lanzarote Golf just outside of the resort on the road to Tias. For a change of scenery, why not go horse riding at Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park, the nearby animal and water park where you can make a splash in pools and slides after wandering around the park and watching the animal shows.

Puerto Del Carmen has everything you need for a well-rounded beach holiday: a picturesque harbour, pristine beaches, charming shops, clubs and bars, seafood restaurants and traditional bodegas. Immerse yourself in the charms of this Canarian jewel with one of our luxury or family-friendly apartments.
