Overview

The beautiful Bay of Mazarron boasts more than 35 km of coastline, along which you will find an array of long sandy beaches, cliffs, clear waters and unspoilt coves, surrounded by picturesque mountains.

This privileged coastline offers the very best weather conditions with more than 300 sunny days a year and an average year round temperature of 18°C, making the Bay of Mazarron a real paradise.

The waters offer the chance to practice many water sports including canoeing, sailing windsurfing, Jet Ski’s and all year round diving.

The small town of Puerto de Mazarron has had significant investment in the last 5 years, with a beautiful new Marina and promenade added which provides great cafes, shops, restaurants and nightlife should you want it!

Take a stroll down the promenade or around the busy streets of the Port and you will find many bars and restaurants offering excellent cuisine and local wines served in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Places to Go

Have a look at the old Tin Mines just outside the port, where all the old workings can still be seen.

Take a trip to the Sierra Espuña Natural Park where you will find clear water fountains and breath taking scenery taking in the towns of Totana, Aledo and Lorca on the way.

Visit the beautiful monastery of ‘Santuario de la Santa’, patroness of Totana, built in the 15th centaury in honour of Saint Eulalia de Merida. Close by is an interesting road up to the top of the mountain which has life size images of the crucifixion leading up to an enormous statue of Jesus Christ.

Amble through the tiny streets of Aledo which is a medieval town where there is a castle built on the edge of the cliff and take in the amazing views.

Ride up to the ‘Big Guns of Mazarrón’ a fortress used as a set for the filming of ‘The Guns of Navarone’. The Guns were manufactured by the British company Vickers and were installed in 1929 and finally dismantled in 1952.

A trip to the city of Murcia is a must. It is a delightful cultural and unspoiled Spanish city where good food, fine living, excellent shopping and nightlife can be found.

Also the historical city of Cartagena, which dates back over 3000 years. Visit the port which is still used today by the Spanish Navy and was where the first ever submarine was built. Also the Roman ruins and the Naval Museum. If you still have energy to spare there is an excellent shopping centre which boasts many lovely shops
but also has some of the most beautiful architecture to sit and admire when enjoying the lovely spanish food available from the many street cafes and restaurants.

What to Eat

The local cuisine is characterized by the two basic local ingredients, Fish and Tomatoes.

In most restaurants you will find many fish dishes such as Lobster with Rice, Fish Casserole, Prawns with Garlic and Seabass with Garlic. For the non fish lovers you will find fine meats, Steak, Pork, Lamb and Rabbit.

Of course you will also be able to find international cuisine, Italian restaurants serving pastas and pizza’s, Chinese, Indian and of course a couple of English restaurants thrown in for good measure.

Recently refurbished in August 2010, The large terrace is open with 180 degree views of the Mediterranean and the surrounding mountains. The terrace is ideal for evening BBQs. Very nice apartment with good facilities. Good view from the balcony over a quiet plain. Close to the port area of Puerto de Mazarron which is a very attractive town. Would recommend to others and would stay again. Andy who met us there was very helpful. However, there are lots of steps and it is set on a steep hill, so would not be suitable for everyone.

The apartment was good value, decent size rooms and nice bathrooms, a large west facing balcony ideal for barbecues and sun worshipers, the secure undercover parking was a bonus. The steps down to the apartment were a bit of a drag with the luggage and shopping, and would be difficult for the elderly or with a baby. Very convenient for local shops and supermarket and the Sunday market. A very nice pool area is attached to the apartment with a separate children's pool, but to get to the beaches you need to take the car. Hi Russell & Liona just thought i'd let you know had a great time at your apartment in Puerto de Mazarron. The apartment is very clean and everything we needed was there for a great holiday. The apartment was close to the restaurants and supermarkets. The beach was fantastic although you never have to leave the private terrace. thanks again - Be back next year. Mr S & Mrs Hagan

Hello, we are a couple in our thirties with 2 children! We bought this apartment because we love the relaxed, quiet atmosphere in Mazarron! We run 2 businesses in England, and love it when we manage to get to the apartment! but because this is not as often as we would like, we choose to rent out the apartment for the rest of the time! we hope if you book with us, that you will enjoy a relaxing stay too!
