Villa overview - owner's description
Lovely villa situated in the countryside near Port de Pollensa town. Private swimmingpool, barbecue, covered terrace. Garden with lawn and trees. Air
The municipality of Pollensa comprises the towns of Pollensa, the Port of Pollensa, Cala Sant Vicente and Formentor. It is set in the northernmost point of island, in the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range, Mallorca´s most extensive and valuable natural area. It is without a doubt one of the most emblematic parts of the island with spectacularly beautiful landscapes where the mountains merge with the sea, and its traditions, a result of its fascinating and intense history.
Pollensa highlights are the Calvario steps and the Roman Bridge, circa 1 AD which runs over the Torrente de Sant Jordi stream, the town´s Museum, the annual summer Music Festival hosted in the cloisters and numerous art exhibitions.
The Port of Pollensa has a long sea facing Pine Walk and wide sandy beaches.
Cala San Vicente is a collection of small bays with crystalline waters and golden sand set against the rocky backdrop of the Cavall Bernat mountain. Also worth visiting are the prehistoric caves of l'Alzineret.
The Formentor peninsula is presided over by one of the most emblematic lighthouses on the island and a key point of reference if arriving by sea from the north-northeast. The cape of Formentor lies at the northernmost point of Mallorca. There are various beaches here with spectacular turquoise waters: Cala Bòquer, Cala Figuera, Cala en Gossalba and Cala Murta, which draw some of the crowds away from Formentor, the largest beach of the peninsula, known also as Cala Pí de la Posada.
The beach runs along the front of the resort and is ideal for all the family. The area from the marina to the right is wide enough and long enough to never be crowded, however the are few bars near the beach at that end so if you are thirsty you may need to walk a little distance.
From the marina to the left , the beach is narrower but benefits from being in the pedestrian area and there are lots of lovely bars and restaurants all along the beach that stretch right along the pine walk up to the Illa do’r hotel.
Formentor beach is a secluded beach right on the northern tip of the island. You can get to Formentor by either bus, car or ferry. The beach itself is a sandy beach with crystal clear blue water. The only thing you need to watch out for are jelly fish which can drift in to bathing areas at certain times.
A relatively new feature on the beaches are red cross stations which are manned should you need assistance. They also fly a colour coded flags to let bathers know if it is safe to swim or not:
The sun in Puerto Pollensa can be deceptively hot, when you are sunbathing it is essential to wear a suncream with a high factor to protect yourself from harmful UV rays. You can get easily dehydrated in the sun so drink plenty of fluids.

Pollensa, however, rested Winston Churchill, was inspired Agatha Christie and Peter Ustinov died among other artists. Pollensa, Puerto de Pollensa and the bay of San Vicente, like, as already mentioned, Alcudia (the ancient Roman Pollentia), constitute the most beautiful areas of the north and undoubtedly an attractive place visit. The town of Pollensa offers everyone who wants to bring the possibility of enjoying a landscape of sea and mountain or a wide range of cultural and service. The harbour of Pollensa retains its own personality of a privileged place, with its long promenade and its beaches. Cala San Vicente hosts a series of coves with crystal clear waters located at the foot of Cavall Bernat and the set of prehistoric caves de lAlzineret. Scenery, history, culture, art, cuisine, traditions, duties and services ... here next door in Pollensa.
