40 El Retiro is a lovely Townhouse in a quiet, private gated community with its own communal swimming pool and secure parking. It is well appointed with free WiFi, aircon and satellite tv and has three bedrooms - sleeping six - and two bathrooms. It is suitable for a range of holiday makers from families and golfing parties to those just seeking a quiet place to relax and get away from it all.
Please do note that the Community does have strict rules - noise, particularly around the swimming pool and in late evening is of concern to other residents especially during the summer months.
Outside and away from the quietness of the private community, there is a very wide selection of activities for everyone throughout the day and into the small hours of the following morning! This area of the southern Costa Blanca - the Orihuela Costa - enjoys a fantastic warm Mediterranean climate with sunshine all the year round.
For kids of all ages, within a 15 minute walk are Playa Flamenca’s blue flag beaches - some of the nicest beaches along this stretch of the coast with a walkway connecting the other popular beaches in the area. (Seven European blue flags for excellence have been awarded to local beaches at Playa Flamenca, Punta Prima, La Zenia, Cala Capitan, Cabo Roig, La Glea/Campoamor, and Barranco Rubio.) Other attractions within walking distance include Ten Pin Bowling at La Zenia Boulevard and the Orihuela Go-Karting track, whilst slightly further afield are the flumes and slides of the Aqua-parks at Quesada and Torrevieja (one of the largest in the region).
Torrevieja is a 15 minute drive away and is a popular Spanish town, boasting a marina, waterfront market, street entertainment, shops, numerous cafes, bistros, restaurants, bars, and a beautiful church square. (The palm-lined promenade and harbour board-walk are an ideal place to go for an evening stroll or for yet more activity there is the street market and fairground going on into the small hours of the morning.)
The nearest Mercadona Supermarket with a small shopping mall is about 250m away, whilst for a wider selection of shops, bars and restaurants with lively night-life, Playa Flamenca Commercial Centre is close by (1km) - also at a similar distance in the other direction is the fabulous shopping mall at La Zenia Boulevard - see video: www.orihuela-costa.com/la-zenia-boulevard-shopping-center/ - with many major brand fashion boutiques, major retail outlets, bars and restaurants together with a Casino, Ten Pin Bowling Alley, Pasta Run, an out door stage with big screen TV showing all major sporting events plus much much more.
Very close is the area's largest Saturday street market (200m) whilst slightly further away (2km) are the busy restaurants and bars and night-life of La Zenia. All in all, there is more than enough to meet the demands of even the most ardent shopaholic (with suitable watering holes for nourishment and refreshment!)
The southern Costa Blanca is rightly known as Costa del Golf and there are three championship golf courses within a 15 minute drive of the property:-
Las Ramblas - www.lasramblassocialclub.com - built into a beautiful natural landscape of Mediterranean pines winding fairways and rugged ravines, this course - although not very long - still provides a challenge to any golfer.
Campoamor - www.campoamorgolf.info - this impressive course winds its way through two connected valleys with wide and manicured fairways which offer a fair challenge to players of all abilities.
Villamartin - www.villamartingolfclub.com - previous host to the Mediterranean Open, Villamartin and its numerous old pine and olive trees provides many diverse challenges with no one hole similar in design to another.(Regardless of these challenges you can still enjoy the beautiful view over the Mediterranean Sea!)
Within a 40 minute drive, there are another eight courses, each with its own unique design, including the world famous La Manga and La Finca golf courses.
40 El Retiro is ideally situated being within easy walking distance for the wide range of local amenities and attractions yet it also has easy access to the main N-332 coastal road and the AP-7 motorway for those that want to travel and explore the local region. Having a rental car for freedom of movement away from the immediate area is therefore not a bad idea but is not essential as locally there is also an excellent bus and taxi service.

On arrival we were greeted by Andy very nice man and very helpful. The villa was cleaned very well and we settled in nicely. We are a family of 5 so was plenty of space for us, the only complaint my youngest daughter had was the WiFi didn’t reach the 2nd floor (so she read which isn’t a bad thing).
We have stayed in another villa on the complex before so we knew the layout and we knew that parking is sparse so just be aware if you have rented a car. The pool is great and never really too busy and everyone was very friendly.
We made great use of the sun loungers and also the electric cool box on our trips to the beach which was a god send.
Overall we had a brilliant time villa was great complex was great and I had great communication with the owners before our stay and I would like to say thank you and would love to stay again sometime. We highly recommend.
Our stay at el retiro 40 was great. We loved the house, clean, covenient and all needed luxury present. Pool was also very clean and tidy. Everything you need is on walking distance. Great supermarket and restaurants (especially chinese restaurant around corner). Tips for owner/clickstay: make sure that in communication a clear adres is mentioned. (El retiro is not known in google maps). We obtained adres from acquintances, who also have house there). Second tip: make sure there is some water present for people who arrive late (supermarket closed at 22 hr). For the rest, just super..we recommend this location to everyone..

4 weeks of wall to wall sunshine in November, what's to complain of.
Lovely property in ideal location close to beach & shops. We walked everywhere, no need to hire a care.
Communication with owner excellent & they were very helpful.
Andy who looked after the property in Spain also very helpful & provides an airport run service which was great.
Look forward to going back for another month next November.
Had a lovely relaxing holiday at this property. It was really home from home - well equipped kitchen, towels provided etc., We were quite often the only ones using the swimming pool. Beaches within walking distance. Saturday market was good. Plenty of places to eat & supermarkets close by. We hired a car and visited a water park and Cartagena. This complex had come recommended as a friend had stayed at another house on this gated community. First time I haven't booked a 'package' holiday and would definitely use Click Stay again and would definitely love to stay at this property again.
This is a lovely property and very well equipped for families. The location is great with plenty of local supermarkets, beaches, bars and restaurants, you really don't need a car. I would just say that the pool rules stipulate no inflatables, so this may be an issue if you have young children but otherwise its very good.
