This apartment offers a haven of tranquility in the centre of a major beach resort which offers activities to suit all tastes, keeping everyone happy through day and night. It is a perfect option for couples who seek a peaceful and relaxing holiday, or those who want somewhere quiet to withdraw to when beach life finishes for the day and the cooling evening breeze blows gently from the sea, as you sit on your balcony overlooking the pool. The building contains only about 20 apartments, all privately owned and used by a few permanent residents and second home owners. There is no reception, as there would be with a tour operator complex, but the owner's representative is available 24 hours a day in an emergency.
The apartment stands out because of its stunning views of the beach, sea and dunes. It is situated directly on the quiet section of the beach promenade which stretches from the centre of the resort to the Riu Palace. The building has direct access from the pool and sunbathing area to the beach promenade. This makes it perfect for a lazy evening stroll and perfect for access to the main beach. There are steps along the promenade at various points, some gently sloping. The steps immediately outside the complex gate, lead down to the Custom supermarket and the beach bars and cafes on the beach. So within minutes of leaving your apartment, you can be on the beach or having a meal on the beach or sipping a cool beer at a bar on the beach. After a hot day on the beach, take a dip in the pool beneath your balcony, which is heated by solar panels to ensure a comfortable temperature all year round.
The stunning views mark this lovely apartment out from the rest. Dont expect the photo to do justice to the views. It strikes you from the moment you open the front door. People have commented that it is like having a beautiful picture at the end of the living room, one which constantly changes, as the sky changes colour, casting shadows on the spectacular dunes, some of which reach 30m in height. Watch from the breakfast bar in the kitchen or sitting in the living room, or dining out on your balcony, and towards the end of the day look out for the parachutists landing on the beach in front of the apartment.
The private ownership of the complex means that the large groups of holidaymakers that can ruin your sleep in any of the offerings from the tour operator holiday brochures are not found here. To maintain this atmosphere, and to respect the others who have made this beautiful place their home for that reason, we only look for bookings from guests that will respect the need for quiet after 11pm.
Playa del Ingles
The stretch of this expansive resort bordering the beach promenade has a quiet charm and incredible beauty, which is quite remote from the bustling commercial centres. They provide fun and entertainment for all, but away from that, in this part of the resort, the evenings are peaceful. Without doubt, the apartment is situated in the most picturesque area, in the first line to the beach promenade, allowing the many visitors to wonder at the beauty of the Sahara-like dunes, for which the area is justifiably famous.
The beautiful beach of fine, golden sand has all the facilities you would expect from one of the largest resorts in Europe. (Geographically, Gran Canaria is located off the coast of West Africa, but it is part of Spain.) You can walk for miles and miles along the beach, as some do, from Playa del Ingles to the Lighthouse of Maspalomas, passing the oasis, a special reserve noted for its wildlife. Buses ferry everyone between Maspalomas lighthouse and Playa del Ingles (and other parts of the island) and the service is frequent and reliable.
The island will surprise you, if you want it to...
If you want to do nothing more than rest and relax in the pool and on the beach, enjoy a good meal and a drink with entertainment in the evening, then the apartment will be perfect. The main entertainment centres of the Cita and the Yumbo Centres are less than 10 minutes by foot. The Kasbah, Metro and Plaza centres are 10 minutes away. The smaller La Sandia centre is 5 minutes walk, and then there is the long stretch of restaurants, bars (some with live music) and cafes situated on the beach itself, below the beach promenade, so just minutes from the apartment.
But take a bus to Las Palmas, the large capital and cultural centre of the island and you will experience a completely different aspect of the island. Or take a trip into the islands centre. Hire a car, or book a trip on a guided jeep tour with an experienced driver, who will take you up the winding roads to the top of the mountains, experiencing spectacular views. Drive to the west of the island, the rugged and wild side. Or take a boat trip to the south west, to Mogan. Relatively few venture beyond the sun and sand of the resort. And who can blame them - with the incredible microclimate enjoyed by the south-east of the island throughout the year. But those that do venture beyond will find plenty of rewarding sights and experiences.
On payment of the final balance, you will be given the contact details for the local representative and she may recommend an airport transfer service. Alternatively, the airport bus stops near La Sandia. Details for hire of equipment, such as cots, will also be provided after this point upon request. Airport transfers and equipment hire do not form part of the contract with the apartment owner of course and you must pay her or the provider directly. Detailed arrival instructions are sent to you on payment of the final balance. Note that car hire is really not necessary for this apartment, although there is street parking. It is perfectly located to walk to all amenities. Also, taxis are extremely cheap and readily available in the streets, and the public bus network transports everyone efficiently between the main destinations of the island.
The cost of cleaning and laundry is included in the price you pay. So the price includes the cost of cleaning the apartment in preparation for your arrival and laundry (bed linen, bath and hand towels are provided for your use on arrival). If you wish to have maid service, you are able to book as many extra cleans and changes of laundry with the local representative as you wish, subject to availability. We understand that our guests appreciate the flexibility to have more or less of a maid service during their stay. If you wish to take advantage of additional cleaning and laundry services during your stay, you can pay for this locally by contacting the local representative directly in advance of your stay (a special rate of 15 Euros for laundry and 20 Euros for cleaning). A washing machine is also provided in the apartment for your use.
Bookings of 14 nights or more include one free linen and towel change (but not cleaning) in the middle of your stay.
Your local rep will also be available to deal with your queries and to arrange extra cleaning, island tours, etc, during your holiday. Her mobile number is provided after payment for this purpose, but of course please respect her wish that from 8pm to 9am calls should be of an emergency nature only. Our local rep has provided a great service for our clients for many years.
Bookings can now be made for a minimum of 6 nights. Discounts are available for bookings of 14 days or more: where available these discounts are shown separately when you enter the dates selected and produce a quote through the website.
LATE AVAILABILITY DEALS - discounts are available at many times of the year. These are applied automatically when you enter dates and request a quote through the booking system. But don't expect to find many last minute deals as The Beachfront Apartment is a top seller
WORRIED BY THE CREDIT CRUNCH AND WHO YOU YOU BOOK WITH?
People are obviously very anxious about who to book with in the wake of the collapse of various package travel companies. Why book with a private owner directly? You deal with the owner as a private individual, not a company. We own two properties for my own use and to rent to guests when we are not using them. We do not depend on the income from these properties. You can speak to us by telephone or ask questions by e-mail (we much prefer e-mail, but we always try to make time to speak to guests who want to speak to us in person). Messages sent through the website are sent to the phone and we try to respond as quickly as possible. Once in Gran Canaria, we have an excellent local rep to look after you and the apartment, who is always on hand to help with any questions and is keen to tell you all about the island.
You can also trust the reviews of those who have stayed at the apartment before you. Please consider taking the time to send a review after your return. The apartment was recently refurbished. The changes include:-
- redecoration throughout
- a new double bed (to replace
the twin beds) with a firm orthopaedic latex mattress (many of you requested a firm mattress in your comments to us)
- a new flat screen LCD TV and a new collection of DVDs for your quiet nights in
- a more comfortable single sofa bed (medium-soft)
- a new bathroom
We needed a quick getaway and did a late booking on this little appartment getting a very good deal. Situated near the beach and overlooking dunes, we only hired a car for one day of our weeks stay, as we were able to walk everywhere from the home, and we did that every day, an hours walk along the beach to the light house where we found a great beach bar, an hour back then more walks in evening!! My only suggestion would be to have sky English TV and an update on the sofas, as this lets the beautiful ambience and setting of the apartment down.

Stayed in this apartment for one week end of May. It is everything it says in the description. Good prompt response from the owner Ian and an excellent service from Lynda and her husband who where there to greet us on our arrival with no problems gaining entry they were there early for us. Excellent access to the beach and promenade. Overall we found this apartment was great value for money, superb quiet location, and the view from the good sized balcony is picture postcard perfect. Would recommend. We were a party of two.

We stayed in this apartment for a week in March 2015, would definitely recommend it to others, the location is excellent, right on the promenade and close to the centre of town and more importantly for us the beachfront bars and restaurants. Great views across to the dunes which you can be on in minutes from leaving the apartment. Everything we needed was provided, we would stay again.

Second stay at this apartment and it lived up to the first time we stayed here. Great location and fantastic view from the balcony. Bars and restaurants just out the gate and down the steps. Couldn't have been better for our fix of winter sun.

Stayed there for a week in March and the property was as described in the advert.Very clean and had all that was needed for self catering. Really nice area with lots of good bars and restaurants and beside beach and beside good bus service for Las Palmas, Puerto Rico etc. It is a number of steps to get to beach but this is clearly indicated in advert . Steve and Lynda were very helpful and I would recommend the private collection from airport ( found on Canaryforum ). €31 each way and on time and polite drivers. One comment in that my partner had to sleep on the sofa bed one night ( due to my snoring ) and a darkout curtain would help to keep early morning sun from coming in. Will be back again.

The property was exactly as described. Not luxurious but ideal as a holiday base.
The position is ideal, right behind the paseo (promenade) and then down the steps to the car park, shops and restaurants. Also the beach and dunes with the excellent walk round to the lighthouse.
The paseo makes a good walk as well with various street artists and musicians, and there are plenty of restaurants of varying qualities.
We had an excellent holiday and will certainly go again - thank you.

Absolutely stunning views from Balcony and excellent quiet location though only short walks to all the major centres (Yumbo, Kasbah, Cita etc) and a very short walk (though a lot of steps) to the front with all its Cafes and Bars. This is our 4th time on the Island and this has definitely been the best location by far. The apartment has everything you could need including a good sized fridge and a washing machine (a godsend after a day of off road buggying!).
One note - the hot water tank is relatively small and although enough for two quick showers if you let her go in first its worth waiting 15-20mins to let the water heat up again!
Would highly recommend this apartment and we will be looking to book again when we come back.
Further information about the equipment: CDs can be played in the DVD player; there is also a separate radio; the washing machine has a spin function but is not a tumble dryer, however a freestanding clothes dryer is available and there is a drying area in the complex for your use; the cooker is a four ring hob without an oven; but a microwave oven is provided; the digital TV offers English language programmes (about 15 Spanish channels with an option to listen in "original audio" - much of the evening programming is US and UK movies and serials, which can be watched in English); the fridge has a freezer compartment. Free parking is available immediately outside the complex and it is rare for there to be many cars in the street at all. Wifi is available free of charge, but the signal may be interrupted and no support is provided if for any reason it does not work, and is only made available for light use (occasional emails and light internet use). No compensation is payable if the wif
About the owner
I have owned and rented two properties through this website for many years and the properties have proved very popular. The properties are second homes and are treated and furnished as such, but with an eye to being practical for our guests, so that they can enjoy their holiday with some home comforts, like DVDs and CDs.
Central to the provision of a great holiday is a great local representative and we are fortunate to have two excellent local property managers. You always have access to the owner by email in any event. All emails are notified to me by text message through the system and I try to respond as soon as I reasonably can. This means a more prompt reply is usually provided than it would be if you were booking with a large company. We are not renting the properties to build a big business, but to cover expenses, which is more difficult to achieve than most people imagine. I am a lawyer and work rather long hours, but I am usually able to respond to emails quickly, albeit often late in the day. I have done my best to provide all the information you need on the website, so do try to look for an answer there before asking a question. Don't forget that people make bookings 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so if in doubt reserve the dates you want (without obligation), and ask a question when making your booking reservation. This gives you a day or so to sort out flights and get answers to any questions you could not find answers to on the website.
