5* WI FI villa, with private heated pool, air conditioning, enclosed garden, mountain, marina & sea views. Within walking distance of restaurants, bars, shops, beaches, the coast. Car not necessary.
Our first visit to Lanzarote was to the north of the island which is very beautiful with it’s dinosaur shaped mountains, canarian palms and strong surf. Later we came to Playa Blanca, known locally as ‘the pearl of the south’ in this Unesco designated Biosphere Reserve and fell in love with it’s nice seaworthy flavour….. a village of white washed houses with a small harbour, a coastal walk (lined at the town end with bars and restaurants, right on the edge of sea) and the small cove shaped beaches. … and even in the Canaries the weather is better in the South!
We knew this was the place we would like to live in permanently, amid lunar-like backdrops and fascinating geological oddities. but it was too soon for us to retire here… Yet, smitten, we bought Villa Mar and fitted it out to offer the ultimate level of comfort for us, our family and friends, with everything needed to relax in luxury and enjoy the sunshine, whilst being located in one of the most beautiful places in the world. We love to sunbath here on the terrace during the day in complete privacy, dipping in and out of our own pool stroll thru the sports port marina rubicón with it’s stylish upmarket shops, retaurants and bars, or wander to El Pueblo at Las Colorades sometimes cooking on the large garden BBQ at home or alternatively going to one of the many tempting seafood restaurants, tasting ‘catch of the day’ with the canarian speciality ‘papas arugadas’. In the evening we love to have a ‘sundowner’ on the balcony and watch the boats sailing into the marina…..
COME AND ENJOY IT! Unfortunately, we can’t be there as often as we would like and feel it is a shame to leave it empty. Villa Mar is tastefully decorated in a contemporary style, down to the last detail, in tune with its surroundings - an island with a perfect year-round climate, that boasts a complete line out of facilities to fulfill just about everyone’s leisure needs. And because of the proximity of the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura, Villa Mar is a perfect starting point for excursions to explore it too. A car is not a necessity here, you can walk or taxi cheaply to restaurants, shops ans bars and you can join the hotel groups for coach tours, etc. However, if you like your independence there are lots of car hire companies close by offering very good value.
Villa Mar is a luxury 2 bedroom, self catering, privately owned, air conditioned, semi detached duplex villa, with an easy layout and has the advantage of it’s own private pool (heated from September to April), large terraced areas, professionally planted garden and a lifesize BBQ! It is situated in the ‘urbanizatión’ of San Marcial del Rubicón which has a full sized supermarket, taxi rank and 5 star Iberostar hotel all within 50 metres of your front door. It is 2 mins from the coastal path, a stunning scenic walk which will take you east to the world famous Papagayo beaches or west to Pechiguera Lighthouse, both extremities of the island on the south coast. A short stroll along here will take you to the marina at Puerto Rubicon, the Princess Yaiza 5 star Hotel and Playa Blanca itself. To indicate distance, a taxi fare from Villa Mar to Playa Blanca is usually less than €4.
Outside Villa Mar..... Set inside a walled private garden, is a very spacious area, containing a beautifully tiled patio and terrace with a private pool. The villa is south facing and receives all day sun on the pool and terrace. The professionally planted garden, outdoor lighting and large BBQ that is a pleasure to use, create an ambiance that is ideal for relaxing or entertaining and you and your companions can dine, have a drink or just relax around the large patio table shaded by the overhead balcony and parasol as needed. There are also 4 very comfortable ergonomic sun loungers with different positions for your back and legs and beach towels for these and the pool. There is a shower beside the pool.
Inside Villa Mar….. The villa has been decorated to a very high standard and equipped down to the last detail, you will find everything you need for your stay. It is completely private. We offer WIFI with our compliments.
The living room….. has a full wall of patio doors looking out to the patio area and pool. It’s decorated in a relaxing comtemporary style with a very comfortable 3 seater rattan sofa and 2 armchairs, cushions, halogen spot lights - bright for reading, and an uplighter for watching the flat screen TV which has 8 local channels and 300+ free -to-air satellite channels, (both German and English dishes) home cinema and a DVD/CD/MP3 player. There is a coffee table, occasional furniture and high ceilings with both air conditioning and heating for controlling temperatures. But more than all that, it’s bright and airy, yet always cool inside, making you feel at home, relaxed and comfortable unlike in a hotel.
The kitchen….. is a dream! Fully fitted out with cherry units, granite worktops, complete with full size oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, extractor and all the crockery, saucepans, oven and tableware necessary to do a full dinner party! There are lots of glasses too (including plastic ones for use around the pool) and a complimentary bottle of wine and water on your arrival. There is a separate utility/breakfast room with a washing machine, iron, ironing board and all the more boring things....
There are two bedrooms….. one with a king sized bed and one with twin beds. Both are air conditioned / heated and both have lots of storage with fitted wardrobes, bedside tables, full length mirrors and a chair in each. There are good quality pillows, cushions and light duvets on the beds with extra pillows and blankets if required. You can sleep comfortably and peacefully here at night here. The main bedroom has a balcony with sea views and looks onto a park of elegant Canarian Palms and exotic Hoopoe birds. There are four chairs on this balcony, though you may like to just keep it to yourself for a morning coffee or evening drink - choosing between the view over the Bocayna Strait to Fuerteventura’s famous beaches and sand dunes and it’s northern island Lobos or the marina view…
The upstairs bathroom….. is a full family sized room, fully tiled with w.c., bidet, bath, power shower, handbasin, large mirror, vanity top and good lights. Soft hand and shower towels are provided. The downstairs bathroom, is also fully tiled with w.c., power shower, handbasin, large mirror, and good lights. There is also an outdoor shower beside the pool.
Cleaning/Towels….. The villa is cleaned thoroughly before your arrival and then weekly. We have an excellent linen and towel service, changed weekly and towels twice weekly. The pool and beach towels are cleaned / changed every week.
Whatever you want.... sun, sand, sea, beaches, mountains, view, walks.... Whether you wish to visit the tourist attractions on the island maybe natural spots like Timanfaya with volcanos, historical heritage, camels, unique beaches, protected landscapes, lava fields, leisure and sport activities, vinyards, salt mines stroll through town centres and enjoy shops or markets eat in Spanish, Italian, Tex Mex, Japanese, Chinese Restaurants or enjoy tapas bars or French Crepes or ice cream swim, bowl, surf, sail, golf, walk, run, jog it’s all close by. However, as Villa Mar is a very comfortable villa with an amazing fit out, it’s own private pool and garden you may never wish to go out, just relax and soak up the sun ……..
The location described as quiet was true, the high standard of the villa was accurate,as was the location of local amenities, shops,Marina etc,
the facilities within the villa allowed comfortable self catering and well equipped with no shortage of equipment throughout for guests to relax and enjoy life, the pool was cleaned every five days, cleaners came after one week and not only changed bed linen and towels etc,but also gave the entire property a very good clean, even though not dirty,we are a very careful considerate couple!.,instructions left were comprehensive and Tel numbers made available for assistance (24hour)if required. The owner has always been available and as helpful as could be wished for,all in all, very satisfied.

Both of myself and my husband felt that the villa fell short of the description, its is marketed as 5 star but we have rented other villas that offer more spacious accomodation and more luxury for less cost.
The beds are very uncomfortable, the twin beds in particular, but all the beds fall short of the comfort promised in the advert, and we didnt sleep well in them. The noise from the AC unit in the childrens bedroom distrubed our sleep and was a source of irratiation. In addition slot unit for running the AC was a reminder of my days as an improvished student and not something I expected to find in my 5 star accomodation.
The terrace is on the small size size and the volume of furniture leave the area feeling cramped and cluttered. The tiles throughout are VERY slippery when wet and dangerous for young and old.
The villa is well equiped and reasonably clean. The regular fresh towels and additional beach towels are a nice touch.
The villa is well located, both the marina and Playa Blanca are lovely areas. The directions to the villa were very good.
What can we say to this? You can't please all the people all the time?

Back home after fantastic holiday with my daughter and 2 grandsons, the only fault was that it went too quick.
The villa was lovely, very clean and beautifully furnished. It was like home from home with everything we needed. Loved the coastal walk to the Marina, which we did almost twice a day, enjoyed the market there too.
We also took a walk into Playa Blanca, very nice place too. Also very handy supermarket right by the villa.
Linda and Richard were extremely helpful, we had no problems so only saw them when they brought clean towels.
We would be happy to book the villa again, and with no hesitation recommend it to other people.

The Villa was lovely, very clean and spacious with all those little extras not found in commercially rented properties.
The pool was also lovely and clean and although not large it was sufficient for the size of the property and big enough for a family to enjoy and keep cool in.
A Villa we would defineltly look at renting again

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Mar. The property is well looked after with modern conveniences and situated in a quiet residential area whilst only 10 minues walk away from the marina which hosts good quality shops and restaurants catering for our family (including our 8 month old baby).
The location was perfect for a relaxing stay and a good base to explore the attractions of the island.
A car is not essential if you do not want to leave the area but we found it to be worthwhile having a car as this allowed us to get out and about and we got a good deal through Autoreisen.
Marian (the owner) was very helpful in answering our queries before arriving in Lanzarote and ensured we were well looked after during our stay.
We highly recommend this property.

On arriving our transfer people were waiting for us (after a delay) and took us straight to the door of the villa, they then picked us up on our final day and delivered us to Club la Cumbre. The villa managers were also great and really helped us with not worrying about our holiday.
The villa was fantastic and much more than we were hoping for. The facilities were great and above and beyond what we would expect which meant that we could explore the island or relax at the villa with everything we needed. Pool and outside area were great, clean and fantastic for a dip - couldnt ask for more. The location was great with a beautiful walk along seafront which was breathtaking. For us the location was fine but for those with small children it may be a bit of a trek to the Marina and town although there were plenty of taxis that you could have grabbed.
We would definitely recommend to others and would return.

Wish we were still there..... The villa was more than we expected, everyone really enjoyed it, and we wouldnt hesitate to book it again. (in fact, already pricing flights for next year...) Not sure about recommending it to friends.......do I really want them to know about my little gem in the sun...........? and I was really impressed with what Linda and the team did with the Birthday Surprise.......and so was the birthday girl!!

On arrival at Villa Mar we gained an immediate and pleasing impression of the quality and lovely standards that the owners have set for their visitors. In Villa Mar everything works!! The layout is great, the bedrooms spacious and the kitchen spotlessly clean and modern. Our holiday has been a complete success, the place is wonderful.

We have been to Lanzarote several times and enjoyed them all but this has been the most comfortable and enjoyable by far. To arrive very late after a long weary day to such a lovely accommodation was a real pick-me-up and a big factor towards such a great stay. We loved the colour theme and the glorious pool. Hopefully we will be back again.
Well we are back home after our fantastic holiday, the only fault we had was that it went far too quickly! Your villa is a lovely place to stay and furnished beautifully. We were comfortable and felt very at home and had everything we needed. Our children also had a fantastic time and the pool was a perfect temperature and size for them. We loved the area and the coastal walk to the Marina was fabulous. We had a few nice meals there, especially a few tapas feasts at Lanis. Linda and Richard were extremely helpful and friendly and were available for any help that we needed, but to be honest we had no problems and just saw them when they were checking that we were ok and bringing towels etc. The pool guy (who was very nice also) kept the pool lovely and clean. We were enjoying ourselves so much that I completely forgot to leave our comments in the visitor book but you can always stick this in the book or let me know and I will write a review on your website. We will definately be coming back to Lanzarote in a couple of years or so and would be happy to book your villa again and I would not hesitate to recommend it to other people. As I said, we had a fantastic time so thank you for renting us your villa and thank you to Linda and Richard for making our stay comfortable. O and H left their buckets and spades, boat and lilo to add to your collection in the utility room! The P Family, Cheshire. 2nd September 2009
Waking up on Sunday morning we couldn`t believe that the beautiful days at Villa Mar were already over. We enjoyed living there very much, everything was perfect, it is much more pleasant and comfortable than living in a hotel, and I'm sure that we will spend another holiday at the wonderful Villa Mar! A&U, Duisburg, Germany. 8 May 2009
Given we have not been to Lanzarote for 15 years we found the island had not changed as much as Tenerife where we are regular visitors except Playa Blanca. The marina development has been beautifully built and is relaxing for a meal and stroll. Thanks for use of the villa which is beautifully furnished and feels like a real home, relaxing and a great base. The P Family, Leatherhead, UK. 17 Apr 2009
We had a really fabulous holiday, thank you. Our journey was truly horrendous, but after that the holiday was lovely and the Villa was all that we needed and more. So well furnished and clean with the help of R&L your managers who are both wonderful. They are a real asset to you. We are great fans of Lanzarote over the Easter period having been now for the past four years and I am sure we will be in touch to sort something out in the future. The R Family, Sheffield, England. 14-Apr
We had a lovely break at Villa Mar. Thanks for everything. We will certainly consider staying at Villa Mar again. WJB Madrid. 31 Mar 2009.
Thank you for the use of your lovely villa. We had a very relaxing time with good weather. S&J, Edinburgh. 26 Mar 2009
We enjoyed staying at Villa Mar again.. It was lovely to see that the same high standards have been kept and everything was in good working order. Had a relaxing week, walked all the prom every morning and then lazed around and in the pool all afternoon, bliss. The cold wet miserable weather that we've returned home to just doesn't compare! Thanks again.
Thank you on your wonderful villa in Lanzarote, it was faultless, not that we were looking for any, but sometimes not everything is as good as people say they are, but this was not the case in your instance, will love to return again.
K&M. Thank you for letting us stay in your villa. It is lovely, nothing needs to be changed. I have coloured in some pictures for you, I hope you like them. J (age 7) and family (Surrey)
Despite the photos we couldn’t believe how nice it was when we arrived! We wanted to relax and unwind and we had everything we needed here. We never saw the beaches because we were so content around the pool! We had a hire car but didn’t bother touring. There was a great sports bar a short walk away too. E&A (Sligo)
Villa Mar was perfect for the holiday we required – home comforts with the bonus of the swimming pool. We never bothered with a hire car and managed perfectly well. We went out each day but it was lovely to come back to. S enjoyed her time in Villa Mar by swimming, watching TV, reading and doing puzzles – her perfect holiday. JJ&S (Cleveland)
Congratulations K&M on having such an attractive, comfortable, welcoming home, it has been a very relaxing, enjoyable stay. Villa Mar is very comfortable and provides everything necessary for a self catering holiday. The beach towels saved us a lot of space in our suitcases, especially our teenage daughters, who needed all that extra space for all those extras they might need! The villa managers S&B were extremely helpful and friendly and we appreciated their local knowledge. We wish the next visitors and equally restful and enjoyable holiday. SGG&L (Shrewsbury)
