Casa Margaret is an individual traditionally-styled and private villa in Paichi, Moraira, Costa Blanca, Spain. It sits on a flat 900 m2 plot with wonderfully Spanish gardens. Situated on a short cul-de-sac with amazing views/sunsets and very tranquil area. The sun rises behind the hill to the rear of the villa and is on the pool, patio area and side orchard from early morning and moves round to the patio at the front of the villa by afternoon. For further details on the location please look at Casa Margaret on Google maps.

There are restaurants and bars within close walking distance of the villa and the beaches are less than 10 minutes drive. Two large supermarkets are no more than a 5 minute drive by car and the centre of Moraira is an approximate 30 mins. walk along the main road.

The villa is ideal for families with children with walls and fences around the garden with a locked gate. The grounds are generally flat, but there is a short flight of steps at the front access, so might not be suitable if wheelchair access is required. However, the house and both the front and rear patios are all on one level, with just 3 steps up to the pool itself.

Outside the villa are mature gardens and ample paved and shaded areas for sitting all round the villa, with a patio and balcony terrace at the front. Also at the side there is a paved area among orange, nispero and lemon trees. In addition there is an area set aside to the rear with a barbeque and raised patio.

At the rear of the villa is a large fully tiled, private secluded swimming pool exclusively for your use. The pool (5m-10m) has steps and a handrail at the shallow end and is approximately 1m deep from the bottom of the steps and just over 2m at the deep end. The villa is fully lit externally including the pool area and provided with underwater lighting to have a romantic moonlight swim in the evening. There are three steps and gates leading up to the pool, for you to keep very small children out of the pool area for their safety.

The inside accommodation of the villa comprises a large sitting area, a dining area and 'turret' room and three bedrooms, with individually controlled air-conditioning/heating units in the living areas and in two of the three bedrooms. The bedroom at the front of the villa has a double bed, the other bedrooms having twin beds. There is a shower-room with hand-basin, bidet and toilet and a bathroom with a 3-piece suite and shower over the bath.

The air-conditioned sitting room is comfortably furnished with a three-piece suite, coffee table, CD radio television, DVD player and a freesat receiver. At one end of the sitting room is an open fireplace. Double doors open onto a partially-covered balcony overlooking a beautiful panoramic view of the valley and mountains. In the turret alcove are easy chairs a sofa bed and a coffee table.

The kitchen has elegant granite surfaces and is equipped with a fridge/freezer, microwave oven, dishwasher, gas hob and electric oven. There is no washing machine. All necessary utensils, crockery and cutlery are provided. The kitchen area is separated from the living area by a large stone table with the same granite surface as in the kitchen with bar chairs. There is an outside door from the kitchen which leads to the rear of the villa, the swimming pool and BBQ areas and to the small orchard.

Although this is a beautiful villa, in a lovely location, we were constantly moaned at by the neighbour behind us for making noise! we wasn't throwing loud parties, or playing loud music. The lady behind us moaned about the noise of our children playing in the pool! she shouted constantly! which then made us take the children out for the day!! totally not the idea of renting your own villa! this is a huge shame as we loved the villa itself but would not return due to the surrounding neighbours

Hi Donna. I am so sorry that you had to put up with an intolerant neighbour. I don't know whether she was there temporarily or not. I believe that she was in the small apartment extension to a larger villa and in a previous year it was a young family there with a baby crying (quite a lot). Fortunately the beaches and Moraira town are close by car - but you shouldn't have to feel that you are not welcome. I am pleased that you loved the villa and the area. Don't be put off!
My best wishes, Derek
ps I will investigate further!!

We had a wedding to attend in El Portet so, with a car, the location was great. Although not far, it is not a particularly attractive or shady walk to Moraira and the best supermarkets are a drive away. The villa was clean and comfortable and perfect for bbqs and lazy pool days. It has everything you need and was lovely and cool inside. The pool has the sun all day. The villa suited the purpose of our stay perfectly.

Hi Naomi.
So pleased that everything went well for you during your stay. Yes, a car is essential for shopping and the town and beaches. However, you can walk off the main road along the Old Portet Road to get to that bay or drop into town further along the main road. Thank you for your nice comments about the villa and the pool.
My best wishes, Derek.

We took three teenagers to the villa and we all had a wonderful time.
The villa has so much space inside and out .My favorite place was sitting at the front of the villa looking out to the hills in the evening.Beautiful.
The crowning glory to this villa is the pool ,it is fantastic and deep enough for grown ups.we spent hours in it or around it.
Derek was kind enough to leave us bread milk butter ect (and my essential tea! ) for when we arrived which was very kind and much appreciated.
The only gripe we had from the kids was the lack of wi fi but they are teenagers it didn't bother me one bit! ( it meant they had to speak to me)
All being well we would love to come back next year.
Thank you for a wonderful holiday
Pamela

Hi Pamela. It is so great to hear that you had a wonderful holiday - especially when teenagers are involved! What I myself appreciate is that there are corners and space to enjoy time to yourself both inside and outside the villa. And as you now know, the sun is on the pool for the whole day and you get the sunset over the hills in the evening. Hope you can make it again to Casa Margaret. My best wishes, Derek.

On first impressions the villa came across as rustic and tired, after a quick shop we were able to look round properly. We became much more disappointed as we noticed several issues letting this property down. The main problem was that for a family of five staying for two weeks we would have expected a washing machine, but there isn't one available. We also found that having only a kettle to put on a gas ring bemusing as we would have expected this as back up only for when the electric goes off, which occurs in Spain often. The cupboards were a little in need of TLC but loads of crockery and plastic pots for outdoor use. The villa suffers from a rather poor finish, having doors painted badly with flaking paint, shower room has no slip mats, and shower was a little mildewy.
The TV was rather old and small and really could do with an update.
Loads of outdoor furniture which was good allowing us to sit in shade when needed (however maybe a new parasol could be put in place as one was broken).
Perhaps a few changes to this villa would enhance its appeal, such as for the pool, depth markers as it is a great pool but quite deep, anti slip mats (as we did have one accident) possibly asking the pool guy to leave a skimmer to enable guests to remove bugs etc for a nice morning dip, another feature that would enhance the villa would be internet access. On the whole ok as a base only, not really the luxury villa we were looking for.

Thanks, Dean, for your comments. We have put some of your comments into progress.Kitchen is being worked on in next few weeks to bring it back to new. However, no washing machine as priority for guests convenience for a 2-week stay is still a dishwasher and we have plumbing and electric supply constraints, which is also why we have ordinary kettle. This was decided on installation of aircon some years ago. Trying to avoid overloads!! Non-slip mats and new TV are now on our list, but when sun is shining....? So pleased that you like our great pool - will talk to pool man re slip mats and will get extra skimmer - good idea! Website does make clear the size and the depths of pool - 1m at bottom of steps in shallow end. It is a pool for swimming, but safety is all important. Casa Margaret is traditionally Spanish in style and intentionally kept so - so it is appropriate that you describe it as rustic. However, after the summer we carry out our annual maintenance. Last year it was the pool update and painting of walls. This time it will be the woodwork and metalwork of windows, doors etc. Over time the heat takes its toll - and the change to the cold and rain as well.

Our party consisted of 5 Adults and it was our first ever visit to mainland Spain.
We have marked the villa as average in a few areas as we felt that it was a little lacking in certain areas and that the description of location needs to be a bit clearer.

The villa description states towels and linen provided, we would expect then to get at least 2 bath towels per person but we got 1 beach towel per person! We must however add that Faye who looks after the villa did kindly bring some more towels after the first week these were again beach towels but at least they were clean.
There is also a lack of glasses ( 3 tumblers and 3 wine glasses) unless you like plastic ones.

Location - we feel that you need to advise people that the restuarants/bars that are within walking distance are down a rather steep road and although going down is ok if you are not fit the walk back is not a particularly enjoyable experience- you really do need a car if you are going to stay here.

Moraira town and beach are wonderful. We ate in several of the restaurants and enjoyed all of them.

The villa was spacious, comfortable and clean. The outside area and gardens were tidy and well kept, and the pool was very clean and of a good size. The owner was very helpful prior to our holiday with regard to location and directions.
The only thing we would add is that the outside area would benefit from a pagoda-type shaded area for very hot days.
We enjoyed our holiday at villa Casa Margaret very much and would recommend the villa and the area.

We have been using Casa Margaret for over 5 years now and have been going to Moraira over 15 years. Casa Margaret is always clean and the owner and the onsite manager always solve any problems quickly. We will definately be returning next year!
