Novelda is a typical spanish town and is an important producer of wine and marble,it has a population of 24,000.There are a number of bodegas near by where you can take the opportunity to buy local wine,one of the local bodegas in Novelda provides a tour and a talk about the production of wine and you get a chance to sample some before you buy.They have also won awards for some of the wines they produce.
The modernist church of Santuario de Santa Maria is a remarkable building,remeniscent of Gaudi's work.
There are many large supermarkets many restaurants bars and cafes.A market is held on a wednesday and saturday.We are 5km from Alenda Golf Club.
Close by is Aspe,the old town centre is pleasant to walk through it has been renovated and the area is pedestrianised,it holds a market on a tuesday and thursday .
There are numerous typical spanish towns nearby just waiting to be explored.Elda is only 8km away and has a university a new hospital a 10 screen cinema complex and a Carrefour hypermarket and shopping centre complete with a drive through McDonalds.
