EL APARTAMENTO, the self-contained upper floor of a traditional Andalucian farmhouse - CORTIJO NUEVO.
Exterior staircase entrance, private with dining terrace and furniture for 4 travellers + chimenea BBQ/heater.
Spiral stairs lead to huge second private terrace - Large (40 sq.metre) Sun garden/terrace with lovely 360º views - Mediterranean, Motril & mountain backdrop. Benefits from all-day sun, tan from dawn til dusk - ample loungers, pot plants and drying lines. Also ideal for evening use - marvellous sunsets and starry skies - remember the Rioja!

El Apartamento, also has full use of the exotic mature gardens, shared with the Cortijo and CASA PEQUENA (Ref: 1499) which is also available for holiday rentals.
The Apartment & Casita can be rented together, to allow larger groups of 4/7 travellers - Maximum.
The Cortijo and gardens are nicely laid out, so each home enjoys their own space and privacy. Also communal terraces and patios created for sole use of guests - these sub-tropical gardens are unusual in regular holiday property.

An Ideal holiday destination for travellers seeking a tranquil holiday away from the package deal. Excellent base to soak up the rugged beauty of Andalucia, CAR ESSENTIAL to explore the many attractions in the area.
The COSTA TROPICAL offers a diverse range of beaches diving & snorkling, windsurfing, paragliding, jet-ski, nudism, fishing or just sunbathing and swimming. Many have a good range of restaurants and bars with excellent fresh local seafood and often free tapas.
Granada coastline main resorts include SALOBRENA, ALMUNECAR, CASTELL DE FERRO, TORRENUEVA, LA HERRADURA as well as MOTRIL.

Inland, quick easy access to the timeless mountain villages of LAS ALPUJARRAS, LECRIN VALLEY & SIERRA NEVADAS.
Also a good base for bargain property searches - many travellers have bought when staying here - Motril has many agents and Lawyers.

The area remains SPANISH, restaurants and tapas bars are varied and cheap. Motril Port area has many excellent fish restaurants . Nearby Motril town - 5 minute drive - is a thriving market town, busy year round. Not a purpose built tourist resort that closes 6 months of the year! Benefits from excellent shopping facilities supermarkets, including a large hypermarket, boutiques & daily indoor food market. Nightclubs limited and thankfully no British pubs or businesses! Nearby, village Puntalon (10 minute walk) has a restaurant and one small bar - but really need to centre on Motril for everyday needs.

The immediate location is semi-rural and quiet considering its proximity to Motril town - 3kms. The whole area has a fast growing economy, based around horticulture as well as tourism - mainly Spanish. All this is facilitated by the improving road network and easy links with three international airports GRANADA/MALAGA/ALMERIA. Although on a touring holiday, possible to use Alicante, Gibraltar, Murcia or even Madrid - less than 5 hour drive - excellent motorway.


SUB-TROPICAL GARDENS
Many sub-tropical fruits and vegetables are produced in the area, often for export to the large supermarkets of Northern Europe. Some surrounding land is covered with Invernaderos (plastic greenhouses) regular crops are cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and melons. On open land, often potatoes, leeks, lettuce & asparagus. The hillsides are used for sub-tropical fruits and further inland olives, almonds & chesnuts.

The Apartments mature gardens are home to many native plants, some fruit trees, palms and flowering shrubs. In season help youself to avocados & citrus fruits.
Enjoying, probably the Best climate in mainland Europe - averaging over 320 sunny days a year - snow & frosts very rare on the coast! Mild Winters as the property still at sea level.
Also enjoy tranquil fountain areas, BBQ & various patios - ideal for Al Fresco dining. Not forgetting the Summer kitchen, fully equipped for 6 travellers charcoal bbq, gas paellero, honesty fridge, sink. Private swimming pool, shared only with any occupants of Casa Pequeña - normally just 2. Fully illuminated and private, with seating and ample sun loungers under a vine covered terrace.

Travellers find the gardens extremely relaxing (check out the independent REVIEWS) and can be used 24/7 - the perfect place to chill or read countless books. Many different corners in both sun or shade - plus your own private terrace/balcony and roof-top sun terrace. All furnished for 4 - Panoramic views of the Mediterranean coast, mountains and Motril.

Well Behaved and socialised pet DOGS WELCOME - my 2 waggy dogs ( Hector and Dino) live on site, spending much of the day dozing - an example the guests often follow!
New Secure gated area on lower terrace, if required.

The place was a little paradise in a beautiful part of th world with all the facilities and amenaties that one would require. Lots to explore all within a short distance of the house and if you did not want to go far the house and grounds had enough to keep you occupied. The owner was very accommodating and helpful.

On arrival what a welcome, Patrick met us in his car in the early hours in Motril to guide us home, he has been an amazing host .... nothing too much trouble ...the luxury welcome pack is a MUST, it was fabulous, worth every cent! the gardens at the cortijo are amazing, the roof terrace views stunning, the climate fabulous and of course the resident dogs (Hector and Dino) are so friendly .......... locally there is everything to appeal to tourists, Salobrena, Almunecar etc., lovely! We fell in love with this place immediately and we will return, its amazing, blazing sun on the terraces, great relaxing by the pool, super amenities close by, definitely been the most relaxing and best value holiday we have ever had, thank you Patrick, you have a fantastic holiday haven we would recommend to everyone.

A tropical paradise, and perfect for a much-needed holiday in the privacy of the owners garden. We chose not to do much sight-seeing, but believe that there is plenty to see in the vicinity. The accommodation was really a home away from home, with everything we needed available for use. Patrick, the owner, was most friendly and welcoming but in-obtrusive. The garden is beautiful and we used the pool area most days that we were there. We will definitely consider a return visit, as well as recommending it to family and friends.

Sandra+Billy from Yorkshire We spent 3 weeks in the apartment in June 2013 and it was great . Patrick is a very genial host available whenever you need him . He told us to treat it as our home and we did . The apartment has everything you need and more. The view from the roof terrace is lovely And the garden has to be seen to be believed we loved it .and we loved the resident dogs too .! There is plenty to see in the area but you could just spend the whole time there relaxing ., and taking a dip in the pool. We had a lovely time .

6 weeks in December/January to escape the Dutch winter for a while.. Stayed with my 3 dogs who enjoyed the warmth and the big garden. Jerry the owners dog is a gentle giant who loves to be kuddled. The garden is stunning even in Winter. Patrick the owner is very friendly and helpful. The apartment was very pretty (lovely decorated) and has everything you need ( TV with countless channels, WIFI, Ipod docking station, HIFI etc etc.) What can I say - it was one the best holidays ever!

stop the search! - excellent property - great atmosphere - fab garden - you wont be disappointed.
'PARADISE FOUND' -El Apartamento, an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of life, even a delayed return to the UK because of the volcano could not spoil our enjoyment. In fact Patrick the owner went out of his way to help us, with free use of both computer and telephone to help us resolve our problem.The garden is an eclectic joy of flowers, shrubs and trees wherever you look. The swimming pool area is an absolute delight, with everything you could need for a barbaque, even an honesty fridge should you run out of vino collapso.The apartment is extremely well equipped and spacious, the kitchen has all you need and more to survive if you choose to self-cater.Torrenueva, the nearest village has plenty of mini-markets, very good bakeries and tavernas nearby Motril though a working town, has plenty of suprise in it's back streets and Excellent supermarkets.Salobreña is a pueblo blanco with it's Moorish castle dominating the town and whitewashed houses clambering up the hillside.All in all, if you want the real Spain, warts and all and you are willing to look, then Cortijo Nuevo is the place for you, if you want a Symbaritic lifestyle then look elsewhere.If you can find a more caring and attentive landlord, who is there only when you need him, but slides into the background at all other times, then please let me know. My name is Patrick, I am a British Citizen having owned Cortijo Nuevo, for over 21 years and residing here full-time for the last eleven, with three friendly dogs; Ben, Jerry and Pedro. We all respect guests privacy, but still available to deal with any issues and problems, offer advice or simply chat. Key/linen change, pool and gardening maintenance are all dealt with swiftly with the aim of facilitating a restful and tranquil stay here on the Costa Tropical. Both CASA PEQUEÑA and EL APARTAMENTO are popular year round, due in part to the wonderful Andaluz climate, but also the special garden - note the many positive reviews on the subject. Both homes are comfortable furnished with everything necessary in a holiday let, but also a few extras - to enable any travellers to unwind after their initial arrival.
