Villas, apartments and holiday rentals in Majorca

Majorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and the perfect picturesque setting for a fun-filled holiday. Lively resorts line the coast and the beaches here are some of the finest in Spain. But Majorca is more than just a sun-drenched escape! The Serra de Tramuntana mountain range stretches from the north eastern to south western region of the island and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The capital city Palma offers a vibrant nightlife set among the region’s classical architecture. The impressive Roman Gothic cathedral is one of Europe's largest, with a higher nave than Paris’s Notre-Dame.

Majorca is also famous for its pristine beaches - 250 in total, with 32 of them meeting Blue Flag standards. The southeast and southwest coasts are dotted with sweeping sandy bays that catch the day's sun, whilst the north tends to have more secluded pebble bays with crystal clear waters perfect for snorkeling. Venture inland and you’ll discover pine forests, rocky mountains and tinkling goat bells accompanying the manicured Moorish garden, underground caves and hidden lakes. Traditional villages showcase the island's stunning rural beauty.

Those looking to enjoy a local cocktail and a dance will find that the island's south coast offers plenty of bars, live music venues and a vibrant social scene - most of them located in the heart of Palma. The east offers a more tranquil stay, with smaller resorts and quieter beaches providing all the sun and serenity you need!

A beginner's guide to renting a holiday villa or apartment in Majorca

Majorca is the largest of the four Balearic islands . Bigger, busier and more developed - it's a holidaymakers favourite. The island's main airport, Palma de Mallorca airport, has direct flights to the UK and major European cities. The major low cost airlines like Ryanair, Easyjet, Jet2 and Monarch fly there as well as full service carriers like British Airways.

Manorca offers everything from busy resorts like Magaluf and S'Arenal to quiet beaches and charming towns such as Pollensa and Soller. The Serra de Tramuntana mountain range in the southwest to northeast side of the island has some charming old towns and villages, including Valldemossa and Deia; famous refuges for writers, artists and composers. Valldemossa is famous for it's old Carthusian monastery where the composer Frédéric Chopin stayed with the French female writer George Sand (Baroness Amandine Dupin).

If you're after wide, sandy beaches then the southern coast offers plenty in the way of a relaxing beach escape. Discover golden sand and gentle waters glimmering in the sun's rays. The eastern part of the island is much quieter with charming old Majorcan towns nestled near sandy beaches - perfect family holidays. The north western part of Majorca is hillier and boasts some spectacular coves with pebble beaches and crystal clear waters. You won't get the long sunsets here though, as the Tramuntana range casts a shadow.

The weather in Majorca is temperate: the peak summer temperatures rarely exceed 30 degrees Celsius whilst in winter it can reach 15 or 18 degrees during the day. October to January is the wettest period but even then the island doesn't often see more than seven rainy days per month. The mild out-of-season climate makes it a wonderful retreat for winter sun escapes.
