Do you like the sea? Then you’ll love Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura has 340 kilometres of coastline with beaches to suit everyone. In Fuerteventura, three sports stand out far above the rest: windsurfing, scuba diving and kite surfing.

Fuerteventura, a paradise in the Canary Islands
with traditional architecture inland with small quaint villages doted around the Island. There is a fantastic range of large sand dunes that run for miles from Puerto Del Rosiaro airport upto Corralejo and Cotillo and in the south down to Jandia. Fuerteventura is blessed with crystal clear waters on all of its beaches surrounding the island.

Fuerteventura would suit anyone with a love of the great outdoors, as you couldn’t find much more spectacular natural diversity than exists on this unique island destination.

Brief History
Jean de Bethencourt first set foot on the pristine shores of Fuerteventura. When he invaded the island in 1402, he discovered paradise in Europe. And now you can too. Nestled on the breath taking north coast of Fuerteventura is a destination poised to become the envy of island lovers throughout the Canary Islands. Located just 35 minutes from Puerto del Rosario International Airport – the lively beach town of Corralejo.

In the villa you can enjoy all the amenities of home, a king size bed brings endless comfort in the master bedroom… spectacular views from the private balcony over to the island of Los Lobos will leave you with lifelong memories of Fuerteventura.

Take a 10 minute leisurely stroll to the white sand beach at Majanicho where you can surf or just watch the excitement of the kite surfers, particularly at the weekends. In Corralejo there is a wide variety of restaurants for your dining pleasure located right on the beach. While sitting on the beach, you can dine on everything from local cuisine to pizza. After eating you can relax at one of the local bars, or do some shopping, or just sit back, soak up the sun, watch the kite surfers dance on the water, sip your favourite beverage and feel the ocean breeze carry all your stress away.

Local Area Info
Majanicho and the Origo Mare Resort are quiet & tranquil, ideal for those wanting to get away for a very relaxing break. The village of Lajares is just 6 km distance and has a good supermarket, pharmacy, some local bars and restaurants, French patisserie, Typical Canarian gift shop where you can see lace making and several surfing shops.

If you like to eat out you will not be disappointed in Correlajo with its many restaurants, bars, shops, Baku market, Water Park and beaches. If you surf Majanicho beach is within walking distance where you can swim and snorkel in its crystal clear shallow waters

If you like to pick up a bargain Corralejo Baku market is on Mondays and Friday Mornings and Lajares Market is midweek and Saturdays both are open till around 1pm

The beaches in Corralejo are the resorts major attraction. The area has 7 miles (11 km) of fine sand starting 2 miles (3.2 km) outside of Corralejo, along with some smaller bays along the coast. In addition, there are several miles of sand dunes, which have been designated as a nature reserve. The waters around Corralejo are crystal clear and an intense shade of blue and aquamarine. The towns beaches are sheltered and have a band of volcanic rock and fine sand along the shoreline.

At Corralejo Harbour the ferries go over to Lanzarote and the island of Los Lobos is 2 km by glass bottom boat from the harbour, there you will find lovely beaches and bays to swim & snorkel. There are also organised diving, fishing trips and dolphin watching in the local waters and trips on the Catalanza Catamaran where you will have a fantastic day out.

El Cotillo is only a 15-minute drive and is a Mecca for the surfing community. To the south Cotillo has nice beaches that are very popular with surfers as the waves roll in at full strength. At the old harbour there are a good selection of nice restaurants with great views to the sandy beaches and great sunsets. The beaches to the north of El Cotillo are in fact lagoons that are protected from big Atlantic waves by lava reefs. You can find pools with warm water making them ideal to swim in.

Sports on the Island

Fuerteventura Golf Club in Costa Caleta, was the first of its kind on the island, is only 11 kilometres from the capital Puerto del Rosario, and eight kilometres from the airport.
The course has 18 holes, with a par of 71, and wanders over streams and around lakes. The 18th hole has a very high tee and is a dogleg par four. Here, the player could take more clubs than is needed for the tee shot with the breeze blowing behind. The delightful climate throughout summer and winter means this exciting course can be enjoyed at any time of the year.

Las Salinas Golf Club

Golfcourse of 18 holes, par 70,designed by Manolo Piñeiro, twice champion of the World. With a maximum distance of 5.409m for gentlemen and 4.652 for ladies. In its construction have been used the most advanced technologies in design of the systems for irrigation and drainage in order to optimise the water ´s consumption Salinas de Antigua Golf Clubs landscape is formed by hills and dunes which protect from the wind, there are also deserts areas and four lakes which surface are 21.450m2.

the island is a Mecca for windsurfers. In July, Fuerteventura hosts the Professional Windsurfing Association world windsurfing speed and slalom event at Sotavento in the South. All year round surfers exploit the large Atlantic swells that roll onto the north and western coasts. Spring and summer has traditionally been the sailing season, but kite surfing has become increasingly popular for people looking for adrenaline sports.

Great place to get away and totally relax.

When we arrived the villa was clean and tidy and well equipped. The communal areas and pool were well maintained. The complex was quiet and secure. The villa has alarge comfortable bed. Unfortunately we arrived late in the evening and the items we asked to be left for us ie milk and water were not at the villa. Also we had a few problems and tried to contact the housekeeper who ignored us despite leaving numerous messages on her phone and also with her husband. An information pack at the villa would be helpful for guests as would a torch or candles as we had several power cuts. With regard to the tv the only channels you can get are shopping and religious programmes. David
Owner reply:

The house keeper I use to have did not do the job of looking after the villa and being available should a guest have a problem or request so she has now been replaced. I also had the problem of her not answering my telephone calls so I had to go over to Fuerteventura and only found out what was going on when I got there. Unfortunately her marriage broke up and she just returned to the UK. There is now an information pack and full details and phone numbers for the new housekeeper.

"Tranquil villa with spectacular sea and mountain views." We stayed at this complex in a neighbouring villa at Easter, so we are familiar with the tranquillity of the resort. This peaceful villa is compact but well laid out and well equipped with dish washer, washing machine and other mod cons which provide for a hassle free holiday. As last time the complex was nearly deserted which meant sole use of the communal pool and tennis courts was the usual occurrence. The owners had organised for their housekeeper to provide a supply of groceries (our list - not a standard welcome pack) to be in the villa on our arrival, which was extremely convenient and very welcome as we arrived 7.30 on a Saturday evening. The bottle of wine and beers in the fridge were just what we needed after a very long journey. A late check out was also very helpful. The panoramic views from the bedrooms are stunning, looking north over the shore line it was lovely to enjoy a coffee on the balcony and watch the sun rise over the mountains. The living area faces south, and opens out onto a terrace towards the front of the property. We enjoyed a few BBQs out here in the evenings. Villa Calina is in a remote location so a car is essential, if you wish to visit some of the remote beaches a 4x4 would be best, as some of the "roads" make for a bumpy ride. Lajares, a 5 minute car ride away provides a wealth of bars and cafes to enjoy as well as a well stocked supermarket. El Cotillo and Corralejo both around 15 minutes away provide excellent beaches, bars and shops. Fuertaventua is a quiet island, sparsely populated and laid back, Villa Calina provided a great base from which to explore the island. We hope to return again soon.

Relaxing, peaceful, amazing!! We have just returned from our stay at villa Calina. Not sure where to start..... 1. Value for money: excellent; our expectations were exceeded given we paid £40 a night for a gorgeous 2 bed villa. The best part was waking up in the mornings to hear the ocean which we could also see from our bedroom balcony!. 2. The owner was so helpful and friendly; she allowed us to stay in the villa for an extra few hours until we had to leave for our flight home. Customer service is second to none. 3. We loved this villa so much that we are hoping to return next year!!. 4. Loved having a swimming pool (despite it being shared with others staying in villas in the area). Each morning we woke up and went for a swim. We mostly had the swimming pool to ourselves and it was very clean!. The only thing I would recommend for others considering staying here would be that they had a rental car as the resorts is in an isolated area. Although this isn't essential as there is a restaurant and a shop at the resort. There are taxis available to go into the town. We had a rental car so this wasn't an issue for us. We have now booked again in October 2015
I have just stayed at this villa for a week. It has everything you need. The location although a little out of the way is fantastic, the views are amazing and it is lovely and quiet. The pool and pool area are kept beautiful and clean. I would definitely stay here again.
This year was our second visit to Villa Calina. We are four adults and the villa size is fine - we do two up two down. The pool is a good size and there are fine views which ever way you look . We appreciate the privacy and quiet - but with access to shops and the sea just a 5 mins drive. Lajares is a nice little village with good restaurants and supermarket. Have already booked for next year. Simon
We had an excellent time at Villa Calina in August. The villa complex was ideally situated 10 mins walk to the beach. The swimming pool was lovely with plenty of sun. The villa itself was well equipped with lots of extras, (parasol, beach mats, cleaning products etc) which was ideal when travelling by plane. We were a family of 4 which made the villas was very good value for money for us. For all these reasons, we would love to return there. hopefully next year
Just a perfect setting, well maintained gardens, clean pool area, only minutes from the lovely sandy beach at Majanicho, good walks.. Tastefully decorated villa, spacious interior (slept our party of 5 adults comfortably - no feeling of being cramped). Kitchen well equipped. Relaxing on the patio with a bottle or two of chilled cava is highly recommended! Owner very helpful. Would definately plan a return visit - Thank you! John and sylvia
Just enjoyed a lovely holiday with my 2 sons, the villa was spotless and had lovely views from all the windows. Loved the sunny front patio and garden and upstairs balcony which was nice and cool with great views over to lanzarote. We have already booked again for next year.

About the owner
I live in England with my husband and 2 sons.. My husband and I both work, but spend most of our holidays in Fuerteventura, where we have made many friends and have really fallen in love with the country. We love Fuerteventura because of the fantastic weather and all year round sunshine. There are some beautiful beaches and Corralejo boasts a great range of bars and restaurants. There really is something for everyone here. The area is easily accessible with Puerto del Rosario airport less than an hours drive away The resort is in a gated community and only owners or owners guest are allowed through the security barrier. Its just a 10 minute stroll to the beach at Majanicho and just 15 minutes to the lively town of Corralejo which boasts over 100 restaurants and bars in the town.
