With sunshine all year around, warm, crystal clear water and over 150 sandy beaches, Villa Bocaina is the perfect destination for those who want to escape the package holiday experience, and get to know the real Fuerteventura.

Less than a four hour flight from most UK airports and with easy and inexpensive car hire, you can be relaxing under the Canarian sun, or swimming in it’s warm clear water in no time at all. An added bonus is that there is no time difference between the United Kingdom and The Canaries so no jet lag either. You really should arrive bright and fresh and ready to start your holiday straight away!

About the Villa.
This is a two bed room villa with private gardens and terraces, set on a secluded coastal development, in a beautiful and unspoilt area of the Island. Stunning volcanic landscape surrounds Villa Bocaina, providing the habitat for the wildlife for which Fuerteventura is justly proud.

Our villa is comfortably furnished, offering a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy your stay. It is fully equipped with everything you need for an easy and enjoyable self-catering holiday.

The lounge area opens onto the front garden and terrace, complete with quality outdoor furniture, allowing you to enjoy al fresco dining or to simply sit and soak up the Canarian sun. At the end of a busy day, you can relax whilst listening to music or radio, or enjoy DVDs on the TV which is equipped with Home Cinema for your added enjoyment. There is a collection of DVDs at the villa as well as some music CDs. should you wish to enjoy your own MP3 collection, there is an audio in facility on the DVD player that takes the standard jack plug.

A fully fitted kitchen includes a ceramic hob, full size oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, automatic washing machine, toaster, kettle and a good range of cooking utensils and equipment.

From the double bedroom upstairs, with fully fitted wardrobes, you can step out onto the spacious upper terrace. From here you can enjoy unparalleled sea views across the Straits of Bocaina with Lanzarote clearly visible, not to mention the spectacular mountainous volcanic landscape.

The twin bedroom downstairs, also with fully fitted wardrobes, opens onto the rear garden again offering views across to Lanzarote and the mountains. A child’s travel cot is also supplied.

There is a stylish and modern bathroom on both the ground and first floor, each with bath, shower, toilet, bidet and full size sink.

The villa has ceiling fans in both bedrooms and the lounge in addition to full length shutters on all windows.

In addition to extensive sea views and easy access to miles of unspoilt coastline, residents can enjoy the spacious landscaped grounds with villas set in oasis areas, each with its own infant and full size swimming pools, tennis and paddle courts. There is an 'on site' supermarket should guests want to self cater. There is ample off road parking, and is wheel chairs and pushchairs friendly.

What you can do!!!

Villa Bocaina's position on the north shore makes it a paradise for water sports enthusiasts, whether you want to swim, fish, snorkel, windsurf, body board, kite surf, surf, or splosh!!

Surfing

With good reason, the surfers bible, The Stormrider Guide to Europe, describes The Canary Islands as The Hawaii of the Atlantic. Open ocean swells from three directions unload on volcanic reef and points with power comparable to just about anywhere in the world. Add to this, year around warm, clean water, with just the need for a shortie and rashie most of the time and you start to understand why this is such a popular, year around destination. Situated on the North Shore, Origo Mare overlooks some of the best, if not the very best of these reef breaks. Known to the locals as Derecha (The Right), or in Britain as The Bubble, this is a consistent right of exceptional quality and can be seen working from the upstairs roof terrace! A short walk will bring you to this and several other exceptional reef breaks, Hierro, Izquierda, and Majanicho. Two exceptional beach breaks are a short drive away, and a day surfing Lobos, a short boat trip from Corralejo, is a must. This peeling, tubey right can offer rides of over 400m when conditions are right!

Diving, Snorkelling and Fishing

The warm, clear waters of The Atlantic are the perfect place to enjoy these sports. A Padi dive school operates out of Corralejo, as do many sea fishing boats. A popular choice with young and old is a snorkelling safari to Lobos. Described as Wild, wet and windy, and operating from an inflatable craft, it is not to be missed. Julie and Becky spent a week over the New Year snorkelling in Majanicho harbour and can vouch for its warm water and abundant fish life. Basic fishing and snorkelling gear are included in the rent of the villa.

Mountain biking.

Fuerteventura is a great place for cycling and there is no better place to start than Origo Mare. With the famous north track running outside its front door, it is a popular route for mountain bikes as are the network of unsurfaced tracks across the mountain terrain. There are many well-maintained bike tracks across the island, and many secluded bays and beaches with no car access, but good bike tracks leading down to them. Bike hire is available on site.

Ventura biking, which is based in Corralejo, has a range of quality mountain bikes and also runs guided day bike tours. The other option, if you really do prefer a road bike, is to take you own. Airlines will carry a bike in the hold, providing it is properly packaged in a bike bag, and so will some of the larger buses used for public transport on the island.

Walking, biking and birdwatching.

Described as a haven for walkers and bird watchers alike, peace and tranquillity is really just around the corner. Origo Mare lies some three miles from the start of The Volcano Walk which begins in Lajares and finishes in Corralejo. Described in some of the guide books as the best walk on the Island, it follows a natural ridge with diversions up to look into the crater of an extinct volcano.
For those interested in Birdwatching, Fuerteventura has a lot to offer as its natural open spaces make it quite easy to observe species that are difficult to spot in other surroundings, including the other islands of the archipelago.

Location and surrounding area.

Majanicho

Just a short walk away is the small fishing village of Majanicho. Totally devoid of any commercialisation, people visit to enjoy the crystal clear waters of the bay, the extensive coastal walks and the stunning volcanic scenery. Sunrise and sunset are favourite times when the changing colours of the mountains can be breathtaking. The sheltered bay makes it ideal for swimming, snorkelling, fishing, kite and wind surfing, rock pooling or just messing around!

Villa Bocaina lies half way between Cotillo and Corralejo, on the famous north shore track. The road winds its way around the rocky volcanic headland, faithfully tracking the coast in either direction. Each twist and turn will reveal another breath taking view, be it the huge Atlantic rollers crashing relentlessly onto the black volcanic rock, the quiet sheltered beaches or the impressive mountain views with there ever changing colours.

Lajares

Villa Bocaina is a 5 minute drive from the small town of Lajares, which has all amenities including local bars and restaurants, a well stocked supermarket, pharmacy and a French bakery selling the most delicious range of bread, cakes and pastries! Once the lace making centre of the island, Lajares is a typical Spanish town with a very relaxed atmosphere. The traditional sport of Canarian wrestling can be enjoyed here with a brand new arena currently under construction. It also has three surf shop’s including the famous ‘North shore’ surf shop as well as ‘Magma’ Kiteboarding shop, both offering hire of equipment and tuition.

Corralejo

To the east of Majanicho lies Corralejo, only a fifteen minute drive . The islands principal and most multinational resort, offering a wide range of activities and facilities. There is something for everyone in Corralejo. You can browse around the wide range of shops, enjoy the choice of restaurants and bars, swim in the clear turquoise water lapping the sheltered white sand bays, or the more energetic may want to splash around in the water park, have a go at diving, snorkelling, wind or kite surfing, book a jet ski, fishing trip or excursion on a catamaran. From the busy working port there are daily boat trips to the island of Los Lobos, regular ferries to Lanzarote and markets every Monday and Friday. The old town and harbour area of Corralejo is a delight for those visitors wanting to relax in a more laid back atmosphere. You can amble along the promenade or sit and watch the boats coming and going from the harbour. The music square in the old part of the town is a favourite meeting place for visitors and locals alike, particularly in the evening when the place is buzzing with atmosphere. Whether you want a quiet relaxing drink or take in a show, Corraeljo’s choice of bars and restaurants can cater for all!

El Cotillo

To the east, also a fifteen minute drive, lies El Cotillo. A very relaxed Spanish fishing village also populated by people of all nationalities who come to enjoy the laid back way of life on the island. From the new harbour at the end of the main street, you can watch the local fishing boats coming and going and enjoy fantastic views across the bay. The beaches to the left are a must for all surfers and those wanting to enjoy the miles of stunning cliff top walks.
The bars and restaurants in El Cotillo reflect its relaxed atmosphere and in the Old Harbour which boasts an attractive new promenade, you can sit and enjoy a drink on the terrace whilst taking in the spectacular views across the old town and out to sea! One of the main attractions of El Cotillo, is the lagoons to the north of the village a group of powder white sand coves and the warm, crystal clear water, an ideal spot for families to idle away time and enjoy safe and easy swimming.

Trip to Los Lobos.

Part of the Natural Park of Las Dunas of Corralejo, Los Lobos is a great place for all the family to enjoy. The main beach is a crescent of white sand offering safe bathing and snorkelling whilst fishing off the rocks can be very productive. Lobos is also a haven for ramblers and birdwatchers. Well marked trails cross the island, including one to the summit of an extinct volcano. Lobos is famous for its unique fauna, over 130 different types of plants. Herring Gulls and Corys Shearwater nest on the high crags of La Caldera. As well as its unique bird and plant life, Los Lobos also offers three species of reptile, two of which are endemic to the area, The Haria Lizard and the Lisa Majorera Chalcides Simoneyi

Wow this holiday surpassed our every expectation, it was so relaxing and perfect in every way possible. The villa was spotlessly clean and tidy and very well equipped, the view from the villa was amazing and I really couldnt believe we had been so lucky to discover this lovely property and area on our favourite island, we will definitely be looking for a return visit and the sooner the better! The owners were exceptionally helpful from the first point of booking to our return home and this is very encouraging when you are booking a property for the first time. We really cant recommend this property enough, felt like home from home :-) Mark and Judy Sykes

The standard of the villa is first class. I would say the additional items within the villa (e.g. books, dvds, games, masks and snorkels, tennis rackets) all contribute towards making the experience very welcoming and providing no excuses for boredom! Only caveat I think that is needed is that the position near Majanicho is very out of the way (car essential) so this is not the location if you want to be in the middle of it all. It is definately the location though if you want some serious piece and quiet and dont mind driving every day for amenities. That said the location is almost bang in the middle of two great locations in El Cotillo and Corralejo and so promotes seeing more of the island than if you were in a hotal.

Just returned from the amazing complex and the beautiful Villa. It was so lovely and quiet, tennis every morning, that was of course after the freshley baked bread and coffee. Our two youngest thought it was a great adventure and loved it.(a bit quiet for the 16 year old).Went in the pool a few times the small paddling pool was like a warm bath ! The beaches were lovely and at the moment very quiet. Watched the sunset from the back terrace which was beautiful. Appartment very well equipped. Thanks

The property and its location are exactly as described by the owner and if peacefullness is on anyone's list of requirements then this place is highly recommended. The villa is well equipped, decorated to a good standard, well set out and numerous items were provided by the owner for use during our stay. A hire car is essential and using it to travel out in the evenings provides the added bonus of the opportunity to see some spectacular scenery bathed in a backdrop of fabulous sun-sets.

We enjoyed our stay - having a washing machine and dishwasher made it very easy with a toddler. Lots of info that was helpful to maek our stay enjoyable was under the coffee table. The aprtment was very safe and the kids could play happily in the garden - shame the wind blew and blew!! There is a tennis court, hard to play tennis against the wind and a swimming pool but the wind (in March) made it a little nippy to use. Happily go again and really enjoyed visiting and enjoying the restuarantes in Lajares.

We found Villa Bocaina comfortable, welcoming, extremely well presented and equipped. Its location on the north coast and away from the more densely populated areas was ideal for us, providing a peaceful haven in dramatic surroundings, yet close to a friendly village offering all the facilities we could want and a lovely, unspoiled coastline with both sandy beaches and rockpools. We would certainly hope to make a return visit.

Nice apartment in the neighbourhood of Lajares. Everything you need in the apartment was there so its a nice place to enjoy the rest of the Island. The park itself is like a bungalow park, with swimming pools and tennis courts. The fact that most villas were empty, made it a bit sad.

Villa was a perfect base to explore the island from and would recommend to any surfers looking for a great pad whilst on Fuerteventura! Car is a must for any travel into town but Lajares has everything you could need for supplies and eating out. Well be booking again next time I can get some time off work! Thank you Malcolm & Julie!

Lovely villa! Beautiful views. Well equipped and comfortable. Suggested additions: broom to keep the sand at bay(!), and a carton of milk in the fridge for those arriving late with their own tea bags!

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Bocaina. The surrounding area is beautiful and the location gave us lots of opportunity to explore the local beaches which are endless! The villa itself was just what we were looking for, immaculate throughout and presented beautifully, it more than met our expectations. The views of the sea from the roof terrace were amazing and we could sit back and relax at the end of the day whilst listening to the rolling waves. Perfect.

Great place to spend the holidays, specially if you are into watersports The villa is fully equipped with everything you could hope for Highly recomended

Villa Bocaina is a prefect place to spend holidays away from crowds and noisy hotels. Villa is very well equipped, whole development very well maintained, nice tennis court and swimming pool. Having morning coffee and watching Atlantic from upper terrace was amazing experience. Highly recommended for famiiies with children, beaches in El Cotillo or Coralejo are beautiful. "La Cancela" in Lajares is a very good and unexpensive place to eat( great pizza), Vaca Azul- seafood restaurant in El Cotillo will satisfy every gourmand. We had a great time, hope to come back there one day. Thanks Malcolm and Julie. Przemek, Gosia,Antos September 2008

A well compact property which is situated in very peaceful location. Own transport is required to get around, there are some lovely spanish villages close by with fantastic restuarants. The beaches are fab specially 'flag beach', well worth a visit. Really enjoyed my time there!

The villa was clean, very comfortable and well equipped. The location was excellent and the views were fantastic , we could hear the breaking surf as we lay in bed. The northshore road seems much better after tapas and rioja in Corralejo !! We hope to return before too long.

April 2013 A compact and bijou property offering all mod cons, and sports equipment for use on the complex. The well equipped kitchen, dishwasher and washing machine provide a hassle free holiday for those wishing to enjoy a quiet week away from the masses. The complex was almost deserted when we visited in early April.  The panoramic views from the bedrooms are stunning, looking north over the shore line it was lovely to enjoy a coffee on the balcony and watch the sun rise over the mountains. The living area faces south, and opens out onto a terrace towards the front of the property. We enjoyed a few BBQs out here in the evenings. Villa Bocaina is in a remote location so a car is essential, if you wish to visit some of the remote beaches a 4x4 would be best, as some of the "roads" make for a bumpy ride. Lajares, a 5 minute car ride away provides a wealth of bars and cafes to enjoy as well as a well stocked supermarket. El Cotillo and Corralejo both around 15 minutes away provide excellent beaches, bars and shops. Fuertaventua is a quiet island, sparsely populated and laid back, Villa Bocaina provided a great base from which to explore the island. We hope to return again soon.
April 2013 We have recently returned from a lovely holiday break in Feurtaventura, our first time to the island , escaping the winter cold of the U.K. We certainly were not disappointed, the island although small ,is varied with plenty to do and see, especially if activities such as walking, cycling and surfing is your thing. Our stay at Villa Bocaina near Majanicho was perfect.A complex out of the way, quiet and peaceful, yet only a short drive to the nearby town of Lajares, where restaurants, cafes, shops and an all essential supermarket , provided for all our needs. Villa Bocaina was clean, tastefully furnished and finished, with the most amazing views. It was extremely well equipped both for essential living and recreation. There were tennis rackets , an amazing selec tion of DVD s books and games for all to enjoy. Nearby were tennis courts and a swimming pool. If into surfing then the surf was easily checked each day with out even having to get out of bed. It was lovely to settle to sleep with the sounds of the surf pounding in the background. In planning our holiday , the owners Malcolm and Julie were most helpful , even giving advice on the various hire car companies. To get to and from the villa , and general exploring of the island , a car is essential,  It was reassuring that during our stay , there was a contact number of a person living nearby to contact in case of emergency. We had a welcome pack of essentials on our arrival , this was much appreciated as our arrival time was late in to the evening. Depending on the wind, sun, direction there were various sitting out points to soak up the sun, situated around the villa. The villa certainly contributed to making our holiday a relaxing and enjoyable one , away from the rat race of u.k living We are already thinking about a return visit. Highly recommended villa.
November 2012 Just back from a week here and cant wait to return. The villa is well equipped and in excellent condition. Located in a residential/holiday villa complex on the north coast near Majanichio, it is peaceful and felt completely secure (as a lone female, this was important). A lot of thought has gone into stocking the villa with outdoor equipment that may come in handy (snorkels, tennis rackets etc). The DVD library features a good range of films as an alternative to the local tv channels (which are not up to much). Communal pool and tennis courts and an elevated viewing location within a few minutes walk of the front door - the view from here is great, especially at sunset. The nearest town (5-10 mins) is Lajares, with a supermarket, pharmacy and a range of places to eat. Craft market on a Saturday morning is worth a visit. Youll need a hire car but driving around is easy - majority of roads are well sign posted. Approx 15-20 mins to El Cotillo to the west or Corralejo to the east - through great landscapes.  The beach to the north of the villa, less than 5 minutes along a dirt track from Majanichio, is awesome. Say yes to the damage waiver on the hire car well worth it for peace of mind as you go along some of the more bumpier dirt tracks.
August 2012 Fabulous villa, clean, tidy and it had everything you could ask for including a hairdryer, DVDs, CDs and a dishwasher! It had a few items in the kitchen too like washing up liquid and olive oil for cooking. Malcolm & Julie have made a lovely job of ensuring there is a home from home atmosphere in the villa but you still know you are on holiday. You have to hire a car as the location is quite far from the nearest town, though the journey is good and you get to see the lovely goats on your way there! The villa is set in a complex, which has lots of other villas but not many were occupied in June. The complex is extremely quiet we had the pool to ourselves along with two tennis courts. Rackets and balls were in the villa for us to use and we played tennis every day! All in all, it is perfect if you want absolute peace and quiet and it was excellent value for money. Town was about 10-15 minutes drive away and the two main restaurants: Canela and Mana serve amazing dishes.
August 09 We love this place!! Elizabeth and David
Christmas and New Year 2010 A fantastic villa, fully equipped, with loads of useful information under the coffee table! This is a great location so that you can choose to drive to Corralejo or El Cotillo. The beaches on the way to El Cotillo are beautiful, the beach alongside the sand dunes in Corralejo is fantastic. The choice of restaurants to eat is over whelming but one place we found in El Cotillo was perfect – El Vaca Azul – fresh fish etc, what a setting! All in all a great relaxing holiday and definitely somehere we would return. Thanks you for all the info leading up to our stay and we look forward to a return visit. Adam and Mandy
22.9.09 to 3.10.09 We came to Fuerteventura for our annual body board trip, having said that Villa Bocaina was the best place possilbe. The view from upstairs to The Bubble is incredible and made the morning surf check easy. The house is very well equipped and we specially enjoyed the DVD selec tion, watch The Long Way Round The weather was great, endless summer feeling. Watch out for the rabbits when driving at night and if you got a flat tyre when rally driving there is a petrol station in La Oliva that will fix it for 8 euros! We highly recommend the U turn surfbar in the main road to Corralejo, very nice people and free wi fi. Thank you, hope to come back! We left a DVD entitled “Marbella” - its full of rock, ska, punk and reggae if you like that sort of thing listen to it! Dany, Tico,Joe the Indian, Ric
09/02/2011 We all had a brilliant time. We loved how out of the way the place here is and the vibe. All good surf breaks a stones throw away. We suggest charging the outside reef and what we think is Suicidos just around the corner. We also salute the tireless efforts of the security personelle- Salvador, 2 scoops and Georgeous George. Cheers from Wiz, Johnny and Daniela.
15/02/2011 – 01/3/2011 We have had a fantastic holiday! Villa very comfortable- and yes, the view from up stairs towards Playa Blanca certainly has the wow factor! Look out for the enormous cruise ships that go past! One evening we brought a picnic of G&Ts and nibbles and went down to the beach just past Majanicho to watch the sunset- Amazing! Weather was brilliant every day- and we swam at El Cotillo Lagoon beach every day. Supermarket we liked best was the Hippo Dino in Corralejo- directions in the guide book. A restaurant is also in the guide book, El Roque des Pescadores at the new harbour in El Cotillo. The peace and quiet here is wonderful – pure bliss!! Hope everybody who reads this has a fab time too! Adios and muchas gracias! Kenneth and Audrey Scott, Co Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.
26/03/2011 Our second visit, again a fabulous time in a fabulous villa! Our only regret is having to leave temperatures averaging 25C! El Cotillo lagoons must rate as one of the best beaches on the [lanet, Thanks Malcolm and Julie for providing us with everything we needed. Jack and Lynda Craze
22 December 2010 - 1st Jan, 2011 This is a second visit and again, it has been fantastic. The villa is excellent and so easy to lounge around in. Food in El Cotillo and Corralejo is great, especially the fish. We ventured further out this time and went to Pozo Negro. If you go there you can stop off at some ancient aboriginal settlements and look out for the chipmonks, whilst taking in the history! Then carry on down to Pozo Negro, park and then turn right on the beach and head to “Los – Pescadores”- beautiful fish. Is definitely worth the trip. You can stop off at Caleta de Fuste on the way back for coffee! Another fantastic holiday and if Fuerteventura had an international school – we would be looking for vacancies... Thanks once again and Happy New Year, Adam and Lee PS definitely no dog this time, sorry Mandy, but saw lots of cats and a hedgehog!?
15-22nd December, 2010 Wow! What can we say........this villa is awesome! It has everthing you need. Windy day = books / DVDs / cards / Sunny days = Sunbeds and surfing Wet day = See windy day! Seriously – we played tennis, we hung out, we borrowed an onion from the next door neighbours! Ben, the eternal chef cooked each evening from your well equiped kitchen, we ate so well!! Basically you provided the cement for the tiles for an amazing week away. England has been seeing lows of -15C this week and we have been experiencing highs of 29C in Fuerteventura. Thank you so much for a wonderful week! Best wishes Jess and Benjamin! PS Cheers for the surprise! x
21-27.10.10 The Stephens family What a fantastic week, we love the villa, as always (3rd visit) and the tranquillity of Origo Mare. No wind last week and a green flag at Flag beach – our first I think! Like swimming in a tropical fish tank, fantastic. Other highlights, the shade of the zoo and all being kissed by a sea lion called Pam Wikki bar for lunch, over looking the harbour, mind out for the bacardi measures! 12.8.10 We really enjoyed our stay here, peaceful location, lovely villa, well equipped. We look forward to returning here soon. Written with 2 minutes to spare before we leave – weve been busy! The Stewart family.
June – July 10 If you enjoy the sea and swimming you really must go snorkelling in the lagoons near El Cotillo, they are really fantastic and really worth the effort to see hundreds of colourful fish. Jacob 15. Had a great time, really relaxed. Loved that we all went in the sea everyday, swimming & snorkelling or surfing. Lajares was as far as we went in the evenings – music in the surf bar and football in Pirates. A really quirky island. I really enjoyed doing the volcano walk and seeing the chipmunks in the crater. I wish I could stay 3 more weeks. Florence 9. The Rooke family

Augsut 09 We love this place!!! Elizabeth and David
Christmas and New Year 2009 A fantastic villa, fully equipped, with loads of useful information under the coffee table! This is a great location so that you can choose to drive to Corralejo or El Cotillo, The beaches on the way to El Cotillo are beautiful, the beach alongside the sand dunes in Corralejo is fantastic.
Lisa, Richard, Jake and Holly from Malvern, 10/06/2008.A perfect place for peace and relaxation. Close by to many beautiful beaches. Car essential to explore the island and to get to the wonderful French bakery in Lajares for excellent coffee and pastries for breakfast! ƕ min drive)The snorkling at Los Lobos with 'Get Wet" was fantastic - the highlight of the kids holiday! They were very happy to teach Holly (age 5) to snorkel and enjoy the beauty of underwater life.

About the owner
Having visited the island many times as a family, we always felt compelled to return despite having travelled extensively around Europe and beyond. Once under the skin of Fuerteventura we found a different place to that portrayed in the holiday brochures. A place where wild barren beauty, unexplored beaches and a year around climate better then we had ever experienced before, existed.
