The apartment is located in Chueca. Read up about it on any website and youll discover that apart of being a stones throw from the center of Madrid called Sol, Chueca itself has great, restaurants, bars, shopping, nightlife and sightseeing all within 10 mins walking of the apartment. You really dont need a car to get around. The metro, bus and train system in Madrid works like clockwork and there are always plenty of taxis. If you want to wander out of Madrid there is also very good and cheap public transport available. These to links are invaluable to help you get around - Transport guide http://www.ctm-madrid.es/ and maps http://callejero.paginasamarillas.es/home.asp
Cosy with quality furniture, fittings and essentials
Only the best is good enough for my renters! The apartment is not huge but at least you have a bedroom, a good size living room and well supplied kitchen, which is already more than youll get in a hotel. A small grocery store is two doors away on Calle Hortaleza 39 where you can buy all sorts of additional supplies. The apartment has cable TV and Broadband with WiFi internet access all FREE of charge.
Top floor apartment
Please note that this apartment is on the top (5th) floor and the building does not have a lift. Being on the top definitely has its advantages, it is very quite. Although the apartment is on a busy street the apartment is quiet because it is at the back of the building and hence does not get the street noise, you have the perfect combination of being in the center of the bustle but being able to switch off from it when you wish to get some peace and quiet. The apartment is "Exterior" which means that it gets natural light and sun shine. In Madrid there are many "Interior" apartments that do not have natural light since the windows look into the interior of the building.
Fully renovated cosy apartment in the heart of Madrid. Just off the main shopping street of Gran Via less than 10 min walk to Sol.

I really liked this apartment. Was bettern than I had expected. Location was perfect, very clean, extremely confortable. I will definetely stay here again in the future.
The shower might be a bit small but after firs day you get use to it. I felt like home. Had a full kitchen to cook whenever I wanted to. Wireless worked great. Again I will stay here in future.
Thans again for making my stay in Madrid memorable.

Well organized with the payment and the keys. For an apartment in the center of town very quiet. Practical and well equipped. Its worth the price.
You must be able to climb the stairs to the 5.th floor.

I liked the apartment. It was quite comfotable and a perfect location. I appreciated that it was relatively quiet in the evenings. I would have preferred a softer bed. Climbing 6 flight of stairs was exhausting, but I knew that when I booked the place.

This is a cozy, well decorated apartment with excellent facilitiesa strong wifi connection (this is often a problem at many apartments and hotels Ive stayed at), extra supplies (shampoo, etc.), and everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The detailed instruction booklet was extremely helpful. It couldnt have been easier to figure out how everything works, where everything is, etc. And in the noisy neighborhood of Chueca, this apartment was absolutely quiet at night. Well worth the walk up the stairs to the 5th floor that so many have talked about. I recommend it without reservation.

The apartment is very well situated in a vibrant part of town. The apartment had good light and a nice feel. The guide compiled by the owners was very helpful. Although the stairs were a work out, we knew to expect that and were not troubled by it. We did notice a couple of bugs toward the end of our October stay however.
All things considered we enjoyed the apartment very much.

This was my second time staying at this property and my first review from January 2009 is still available to view...so read that for information on the steps, info packet, etc...
I would like to add that the apartment is starting to show signs of wear-and-tear. The whole apartment could use a fresh coat of paint, the sofa could use a good cleaning, and the fan just does not work proplerly anymore and should be replace with a couple larger ones...one for the bedroom and one for the main living area.
Would be nice to have an extra set of linens, both for the beedding and the bathroom....it was a pain to have to wash towels every-other day-but at least their is a washing machine availabe to do this.
Price was a little on the high end for the ammenities included and due to the fact that id does need a good cleaning and painting...but still a GREAT locationand a good value for the money.
I would definitely stay here again, as long as it was not in the summer since it does not have air conditioninig....hopefully that could change in the near future as neighbors in the same building were having units installed during my stay!

Located absolutely in the centre of Madrid and a minute walk from the Grand Via, this well priced and well decorated apartment is perfect for sightseers. It’s located in a ‘SOHO’ style area of the city, so there’s the odd Sex Shop but the initially intimidating street is actually very friendly and just bustling with people, cafes, restaurants and bars. It is at the top of 5 flights of stairs, plus has no air-con, but at the start of June was a perfectly pleasant temperature with the windows ajar, despite the 30c+ days. Compact with everything you could want in an apartment including free Wi-Fi. We had an amazing time staying here, it is compact and probably a touch overpriced because of that.

In a great location - convenient, easy, fun and hip neighborhood - on a great street.
The apt is clean and well-kept - very much as described. Perfect for a couple (or a couple with one child).
Small, but efficient, and has everything you need - great value for the cost.
Wed definitely stay there again.

Beware of the stairs! There are 92 steps to climb before you get to the front door of the apartment. Very good exercise, however if you or anyone you are traveling with is unable to climb a lot of stairs, several times a day, then I would stay clear from this apartment. After a few days, you do get used to the stairs and they get easier to climb-be sure to find the light switch and turn the lights on BEFORE attempting to climb the stairs, or even before going down the stairs...the steps are made of old wood that is not level or square and it is very easy to slip on them, so do not attemp in the dark-and hold on to the railings!
The apartment was small, but neat and clean. I ended up traveling alone, and the apt. was the perfect size for one or two-but more than that and it could be a bit uncomfortable and a bit of inconvenient since the hot water runs out quickly-especially if you like to take a long shower.
I was suprised to find that the property owners has left some starter groceries in the refrigerator and the cupboards, which was nice and convenient.
Excellent location-close to everything...I walked everywhere and only took the Metro to and from the airport, which was very nice because it only cost 1.90Euros each trip.
READ THE FOLDER OF INFORMATION AS SOON AS YOU GET IN THE APARTMENT! I did not open this up until the 2nd day-would have saved me a lot of headaches if I had read it when I arrived. Has information on how to use the Television, how to turn on the heat, information and maps of the area, how to use the washing machine, etc....very helpful...especially if you read it when you arrive before you try to figure it all out yourself.
I think it was a bit over-priced for the size and the fact of the steps and that you had to do your own cooking, cleaning and laundry...when I converted the Euros to USD, it ended up costing about $135.00 per night.
Overall- a nice, small, clean apt. with excellent access to most everything.

We were very pleased with the property. It was as it was described. The owner(s) took alot of pride in making the property desirable, and provided good information in our email exchanges as well as information in the apartment itself (applicance instructions, area sights and amenities, etc.).
Being Americans, we were concerned about the lack of air conditioning, but during our visit, we didn't need it at all (05/08/ 2008 - 05/18/2008).
You do need to be physically fit because the apartment is on the 5th floor with no lift (this was in the advertising), so the stairs can be daunting, especially after a night on the town.
All in all, it was a great experience.

This apartment is within walking distance of all the main sites in Madrid. The description is very accurate and you get exactly what you expect. The facilities are excellent and the flat has everything you need. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are a lot of stairs, and you either need to be very fit or take rests on the way up! It was the only negative point however, and if I were to go to Madrid again I wouldn't hesitate to stay here.

Totalmente recomendable.

Just as descibed on the website. The pictures capture the interior and exterior well. Comfortable, modern appliances, great location in middle of Madrid in a neighborhood of shops apartments and restaurants. , we walked to many attractions (Prado, other art museums main city park, Sol) and we were two blocks from the metro. One double bed and a very comfortable single bed pullout. I felt like I got a very good feel of the city. while still being able to be a tourist when I wanted to.

Perfect for one person, a tight fit for two, but great location on small, non-tourist, busy street. Apartment is top floor (6 story walk-up, so not for the feeble or lame)
and quiet, with a sweet view of rooftops. You descend from a cozy eerie to the lively street. Landlord was immediately responsive to a small problem that developed. Kitchen needs more pots and pans. If you cook a lot for yourself, you may be frustrated. Otherwise, this is very good value for a modest cost.

This apartments location was perfect for our Madrid visit, close to everything. We were fairly warned about the 5 flights of stairs and found that our legs grew stronger each day from the exercise. Being on the 5th floor and facing the interior courtyard made for a quieter night, as Chueca can be lively through the night.

Very comfortable, tastefully deocrated and all the necessities of home. Nice to able cook when you want to, to do an occasional wash and stretch out on the nice sofa. Nice to be able to use my computer and stay connected to the world through the free wifi. Apt. is in an incredible location and allows you the luxury of being in the thick of all the great restaurants and Tapas bars and great shopping. It is also set back enough from the streets so that you can have some peace and quiet in this bustling and noisy city. Ranpal the owner of the apartment is so helpful and has great pride in making your stay at her apartment an optimal one.
We loved the apartment and the location and will definitely stay right here again the next time we return

I've been to Madrid many times, and have often stayed in hotels in and around Chueca, so I know the area well and always prefer to stay there when I'm in Madrid. This apartment is in a superb location, is beautifully maintained, and perfect for a short stay in Madrid. I will definitely stay here again rather than a hotel, assuming it is available!

I had a wonderful stay in the Chueca apartment. It was easy to get to from the airport via metro and saved me 30-40euro had i taken a taxi. The directions from the Plaza Chueca stop to the apartment could be more detailed. Having the kitchen fully stocked was really nice! You could grocery and wine shop and have a relaxing breakfast/lunch or dinner at home after a day of sightseeing or late night Madrid fun. The 5 flights of stairs were a killer at first but after a couple of days I was amazed at how easy they had gotten. Best part of trip for me besides all the sightseeing and museums, actually turned out to include the stairs to the charming, clean, airy, safe, tastefully decorated, comfortable Chueca apartment. I lost 5 pounds feel great!!! Would absolutely rebook, highly recommend.
The apartment was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The best thing about it though was the location. It was right in the middle of everything and surrounded by great eateries and shops.
The description of the property is extremely accurate. The apartment is a small one bedroom in very nice shape that is very comfortable for two adults. You could squeeze a couple of more in, but I think it would be tight. It has lovely roof top views of Madrid. It is in an excellent location, walking distance to many of the major attractions.
A very good value.
If climbing stairs are an issue, this is not the place for you. The description is very clear - many stairs. Really.
If Internet is important to you, the WIFI is excellent.
The kitchen is well stocked and they even provide you with some of the basics like coffee, olive oil, salt and pepper.
The owners make themselves available if needed to answer any questions by phone or internet.
I would stay there again!
Fantastic location, really good places in the area whatever you may be looking for. Although it is a busy street life 24/7, the apartment is quite and you can sleep undisturbed. Well equipped, well located, well kept and overall a pleasant experience. I stayed for 12 days on a business trip and had my brother visit over the weekend...so it truly felt like I was at home. The only heads up is the fifth floor...I enjoyed the free work out but you have to be cool with climbing the stairs!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!
The pictures and description are accurate. Fabulous central location, good value, and very comfortable for three. Very well set up. Highly recommended.
Great location & everything you need to have a comfortable stay, although the shower is quite small for a 6ft 200lb male! We appreciated having a few groceries available (eg olive oil, black pepper, offee etc). There is a good grocery store & markets nearby. We had a small problem with the TV & the owner got back to us immediatel & it was sorted out. There were full instructions covering everything which were very helpful. The 5 flights of stairs can be a challenge with luggage & at the end of a day walking around Madrid - but it did increase our fitness! The lights in the stairwell turn off quite quickly - when you are trying to go quietly & slowly with your luggage! We were also very pleased to have the fan as it was very warm when we were in Madrid. We had a GREAT time, really enjoyed having an apartment as distinct from a hotel & loved all the food!!
Getting to the apartment using the metro from the airport was very easy. Very comfortable apartment, spotlessly clean, in a location that could not have been more convenient. It was on the 5th floor which entailed going up 5 floors but not really a problem if one is reasonably fit. The only drawback was for Madrid summers, even the open windows on the 5th floor could not make up for the above 30 degree temp. and one has to contend with street and construction noise that goes well into early morning. Otherwise, we had a very enjoyable stay and thank you, W and R, for opening up your apartment to Madrid visitors.
Given the money and location, this is a great property to rent if youre planning an extended stay in Madrid. Just a few minutes walk from Gran Via, about the only downfall of the apartment is its on the fifth floor, which can be a hot hike after being in the city all day. However, that pales in comparison to the room, the view from the windows and the price. Its central to all that is needed to in Madrid, and just a few minutes from various metro stations, shops, restaurants, bars and places to buy groceries, too. Definitely recommend this one to my friends.
A very cute apartment in an excellent location.
My boyfriend and I spent a week in this beautiful apartment! We received a phone call from the owners making sure we made it successfully an hour after we arrived. The apartment was very clean as well. We couldnt have asked for a better location. It was central to EVERYTHING we wanted to do. The neighborhood was very gorgeous and everyone was very nice! Having wifi in the apartment was an added bonus!
The apartment was perfect for our needs. It is situated right in the heart of Chueca, with easy access to metros and taxis, although you can walk just about anywhere in Madrid from this location. The apartment is situated on the fifth floor to the back of the building so although it is located in a lively part of the city, the apartment itself is very quiet. The owner was lovely to work with and the apartment had been very thoughtfully stocked with nice little details like an electric kettle, and iron, and even a notebook with suggestions for how best to enjoy your stay in Madrid. The bathroom exceeded our expectations. Although it is small, the sink is quite large with room enough to store your things, plus there is a very handy shelf above the toilet. All in all, this apartment represented an excellent value. The only negative is that it is on the top floor and thee is no elevator. This was not a problem for us (and the owner was very clear about this before we rented), but this would not be a good apartment for someone who might have trouble using the stairs.
My wife and I recently spent 10 days in this apartment and our experience could not have been better. The location is perfect and the space was quiet and clean. The owners were extremely pleasant to deal with from beginning to end. We highly recommend this apartment.
We enjoyed our stay in Madrid. The apartment took 24 hours to warm up, and I think for a Christmas booking it would have been nice to have it warm when we arrived, thankfully there was an electric blanket. We were very central, and could walk to the city centre. Because the apartment did not have an oven, which we did not realise at the time of selec tion, until Ranpal informed us. We were a little concerned about eating on Christmas Day, we did not need to worry, nearly ALL the restaurants were open and the cost was the same, we had an excellent meal at GINOS. The metro was so easy to follow and so cheap. For Aviation enthusiasts we can recommend the Museo Delaire Madrid, which was free to get in, and had a large static display and 7 Hangers to view. All in all A good time was had, and although we are both over 65, the walking and the stairs were a piece of cake.
I spent 6 weeks in this property last summer and thought it was a fantastic place. It really did feel like a second home by the end of my stay and I was very sad to leave.
The flat was well furnished and came equipped with all you would really need in terms of cooking utensils, free wifi, etc. There isnt an oven, but there is an electric hob built into a neatly fitted kitchen, and this is entirely common (in my experience) for flats in central Madrid. The condition of the flat was good, in particular for the price - which was very reasonable for the location and quality.
The flat is on the top floor of the property (and as others have mentioned, there is no lift). However, this gives you the benefit of lots of light and a feeling of calm, which in the central Madrid location is a rarity. By the end of the stay, I was perfectly fine with all the steps too. There was no aircon, which for some might be difficult, particular in the hot summers. However, I found it was much easier to acclimatise to the heat without it.
I would certainly stay in this flat again as I very much enjoyed my stay. Ranpal was a very approachable landlord and made every effort (including providing a very useful information pack) to make me feel at home.
This unit is very well situated near the heart of Madrid, just 4-5 blocks from Gran Via and less than a 10-15 minute walk to major sites. Despite its central location, it was surprisingly quiet (being on the top floor helps, as do good windows). You are still in the city center, so of course there is noise, but it was very tolerable. The location is excellent.
Ive been to many VRBOs, and this one is about average in terms of the amenities provided - kitchen (no oven), nice couch and TV, full-sized tables, an okay bed, very basic toiletries and supplies (though only one set of linens and towels). Like most rentals, you dont get much more than is advertised, but it was all adequate for our stay.
Only two caveats for this unit: (1) As other reviews and the property description note, it is five (really six, by American standards) flights of stairs with no elevator. The stairs are old, uneven, and steep. Be prepared (and in good shape!) to haul luggage up and down. Im in reasonable shape, and found that at the end of a day of walking around Madrid, the most exhausting physical challenge was the stairs. We got used to it, but if you have a bum knee, are elderly, or are out of shape, you should think twice about this one. I would still probably return due to the price and quality of the unit overall, however.
(2) No air conditioning. This was the first VRBO Ive stayed at without A/C (I was told that due to the age of the building AC wasnt allowed). For late fall, winter, and early spring travel, I dont imagine this will be a problem (there is heat in the form of electric radiators which, after a few hours, do warm the place nicely). However, if you are traveling in the summer, it will be an issue for some. We went in mid-September, right at the cusp of fall, so the first 4 days there were very hot and the last 4 rather chilly. We toured during the daytime and opened the windows to cool the place down in the evening, so it wasnt terrible, but I can imagine in August it might be a different story. We were told there was a fan in the unit, which was technically true, but it was no more than 8-12", the sort of thing you would put on your office desk, and not really adequate to the task (it also had a very dirty switch, making it nearly impossible to get it to stay on). If staying in the summer, ask if the fan has been replaced with something larger and in good working order.
Overall, a pleasant place to stay at a very good price given its location.
Clean, quiet, well-designed and furnished apartment. Everything was delightful. The stairs were a bit of a struggle, but were young college students, so it was a worthwhile workout. The only downside was one cockroach that we found had crawled into an open suitcase, but since the apartment was immaculate in general, I dont think its the fault of the owner.
Thanks for a great stay in an eclectic neighborhood of Madrid! The metro was within walking distance and we were within walking distance to tons of shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed the stay! Thank you! We received our entire booking deposit without any issue.
This apartment was perfect for us. Ideally located, the owners made sure that the renters would want for nothing. Yes, small, but turn around and its there...including a book of suggestions for great restaurants and walking tours, etc...read it and "reap". We did and if we ever return to Madrid, we just hope this beautiful property is there for us!!!
The apartment was exactly as described. Although small, it was perfect for our needs (clean, comfortable, modern and a great location). Yes, there are 92 stairs to walk up, but only half as many going down, or so it seems. We were able to walk to most tourist sites (e.g. Gran Via: 5 minutes Puerta de Sol: 15 minutes Prado: 20 minutes) and the Metro was only minutes away. As stated in other reviews, read the instructions in the provided folder in order to know how to operate the various appliances and the TV. Be aware however, there is a cat in the apartment next door that has a tendency, at least while we were there, to howl at all times of the day and night. Overall we would highly recommend the apartment and wouldnt hesitate to go back.
Very comfortable, well equipped, quiet accommodation. The apartment is perfectly located for exploring central Madrid.
A great base for a visit to this interesting city.
Stated in the profile, the apartment is at on the 5th floor of a walk up. You will get lots of exercise. The apartment is clean and comfortable. When I first arrived, the apt was chilly. The radiators took a while to warm up the unit. Apt is ideally located. I was able to walk everywhere. Great deal for the money given location.
This property was an excellent value for the money and one of the best locations in Madrid. It was very clean and well-kept and looked exactly like it does in the photos.
The owners of the property were very helpful and attentive. They provided a great guide to how things in the apartment worked.
Althought the stairs were a little difficult to climb with a suitcase, I found it completely fine for the rest of the trip.
The only thing the apartment lacks is a stereo. However, if you bring an audio cable you can plug your iPod of CD player into the television.
I would definitely stay there again during my next visit to Madrid.
The room was perfect for our needs a home away from home. It was warm and welcoming. There was ample room and wonderful benefits - a phone for use in Spain, WIFI, cable, a washing machine, a line to dry onesclothes. It was roomy. It was located in a great spot for walking or Metro use. The owners were very helpful with any questions. The only consideration I would have in recommending this apartment to anyone, is the six flights of stairs to the apartment. It was not undoable for us, but if someone has physical limitations, this could be a problem.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Chueca apartment. It is an extraordinary good value for the money, and exceeded our expectations. It seemed newly renovated and spotlessly clean. The description of the apartment was accurate, but did not capture its´ charm and wonderful location. We were looked after very well. One problem with the tv was immediately attended to and we were provided with many staples in the kitchen. All appliances worked well, especially a much appreciated washing machine. We hated to leave, would definitely return, and would recommend it to our friends who are fit enough to climb six flights of stairs.
We had a fantastic stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in clean, well-appointed apartment in a centrally located area of Madrid. Ranpal (the owner) couldnt have been nicer, meeting us very late upon arrival at the airport to give us the key, and meeting us again 5 weeks later in the city to return our iPods which we left in the apartment.
The welcome package was a real blessing after such a long flight and although the apartment doesnt have a/c, we found it cool enough in the middle of summer as it catches nice breezes being on the top floor.
In all, a very comfortable stay in a beautiful city. Thank you!
My husband and I were thrilled to be in downtown Madrid. Extremely convenient to metro stops and shopping. The owner was extremely helpful during our stay. That is the way to visit Madrid! The stairs were not a problem and we are not in shape. We did our huffing and puffing but that was not a deterrant. The apartment is very quiet which I'm sure is due to being 5 flights up. European kitchens take a little getting used to but it was so very nice to be able to cook when we wanted to. The TV took some figuring out but we managed and found some very nice radio stations on it as well. Space utilization is very well done. We were able to lounge about and not bump into one another. Great place!
Wonderful find in Chueca - top floor so you get a great sunny place above all street noise. Comfy place - small but perfect for 1 person. Markets (fresh produce, meats and fish) within 5 blocks, excellent bakeries within 3 blocks, gym within a block. Much better value and much more comfortable than a hotel.
Good location with a cozy feel. I would go back again the next time I'm in Madrid.
We have just returned from the apartment and Madrid and had a superb time away. Ranpal could have not been more helpful, and the apartment is 1st class. The location is perfect in Madrid, you can walk with ease to all the main areas of interest and the are around has great restaurants, bars and life.
The apartment is a home away from home and I don't think we could have picked a better apartment and location all together. The information provided at the apartment on Madrid was very helpful and we enjoyed relaxing there after spending our day in the city before going out for a meal at night.
Thank you very much Ranpal for having us stay and we'll certainly return to your apartment again the next time we are in Madrid.

This small, but nicely appointed apartment is comfortable, well laid-out and a great value. It is in the heart of a lively area, convenient to transportation (metro, train, bus tours, taxis, etc), restaurants, shops, cafes and Gran Via. We took several day trips, but could have easily spent more time in and around Chueca and other parts of Madrid.
The owners are warm, friendly and available, if and when needed. Prior to and during our trip, all questions and concerns were addressed promptly and honestly. Everything was exactly as promised, including a few pantry items and perishables in the fridge. A nice touch.
It is on the 5th floor, but we got used to the climb after a day or two. A little exercise never hurt anyone. :-)
The online description of this property is excellent - and reality matches the description. It is excellent. The building is located on a busy side street close to the centre of Madrid and within walking distance to everything, but the apartment itself is quiet - away from traffic and noise. It was immaculately presented, with furnishings and equipment being new and comfortable and of a high standard. Touches such as the electric underblanket on the bed and the dressing gown really added to the comfort here.
The owners were exceptionally helpful and friendly, giving me a lot of information about Madrid and living in Spain.
The stairs (5 floors) are quite narrow and steep (so make sure you're OK with that), but so well worth the climb up to a most delightful apartment.
We had a wonderful stay in Madrid. We stayed in Ranpal's apartment for 5 days and it was like being at home. The apartment was exactly as Ranpal described it -- no surprises! The apartment was clean and modern and fully stocked with everythin we needed. The supermarket was close by and the location was perfect. We never took a taxi or a metro. We were able to walk every where. We went to the Cathedral, the Basilica, El Prado, La Reina Sofia, El Parque del Retiro, the Botanical Gardens and more. Madrid is a beautiful city and this apartment allowed us to enjoy the city with all the comforts of home! Thank you Ranpal!!
This was a wonderful, newly renovated, spacious 1 bedroom apt. The big concern is you have to be able to negotiate the 90+ stairs as you come and go as it is 6 flites up!.
As it is in a central location we enjoyed being able to walk almost everywhere. Located on the back side of the building, the noise from the busy street was not an issue.
We enjoyed the ability to cook and just relax at the end of each day of exploration. The kitchen was well stocked with all that you need.
Wireless internet and great flatscreen tv with
cable (even with english language) made for nice ways to stay in touch.
Great apartment and great location! I would absolutely recommend it.
We've rented apartments in many cities and this its one of the best we've had. Very well situated, close to metro stations, but you can walk to many exciting places, restaurants and several shops. Apartment was quiet despite being on busy street (it faces back but with still a lot of light). Very clean and well kept. A bigger bed would have been nice but bed was fine. Also be ready to climb those stairs. Other than that, was great! Will return.
We would certainly recommend this flat to anyone who wants a clean, comfortable base in Madrid in an excellent location. All of the major sights are within walking distance and the immediate area is buzzing with great bars and restaurants. The flat is small but has been furrnished with imagination in order to make the most of the space and it does not feel cramped. The descriptions on the website are accurate and fair. Although the flat is in a very busy area it is quiet and peaceful. Once we had collected keys we had no need to contact the owner but were given a range of contact numbers just in case, which was a very good service. Highly recommended!
I stayed at the apartment for two weeks during May. The owner was already at the apartment to greet me when I arrived. (This was unlike my experience renting an apartment in Barcelona, where the rental agent showed up an hour after I did.)
The apartment was clean, looked exactly like the photos on the website, and came equipped with everything you would need during a vacation stay. The "welcome kit" was useful. Good, central location. I would have stayed longer if the apartment had not already been booked.
Don't miss picking up some bread or croissants at the little French bakery a few blocks up on Hortaleza, heading towards Plaza Santa Barbara.
My wife and me stayed for 2 days. Although the apartment is nicely furnished and the internet, food provided and brochures were appreciated, the lack of air conditioning and the 5 flights of stairs let the apartment down.
My husband, I and our six-month old baby stayed in the apartment for 10 days in June, 2007. The location is indeed perfect; walking distance from many sights and convenient to the metro. The apartment itself is beautifully decorated and has all the conveniences one could ask. Although there is no air conditioning, the weather was nice and opening the windows made the apartment quite cool. The neighborhood is "transitional." It was fine during the day, but one night (around 11pm) someone tried to get into my backpack as we were walking home (amusingly enough, all they found were diapers and baby bottles, so nothing was taken). The sleeping arrangements were good, and we even constructed a makeshift "crib" for the baby so he didn't have to sleep with us as we had planned. There was construction scheduled on a neighbor's roof, so there was some noise during the day, but this was a temporary issue and not a fault of the apartment. We especially valued the (fast) internet connection, which allowed us to Skype home when needed. Overall, an excellent apartment with very helpful owners.
My boyfriend and I stayed at this apt May 27-June 2, 2007. It was exactly what we needed to tour Madrid. The apartment was just as described, and the photos are identical to the current condition of the apt. Everything was very clean and orgnized. All the necessities are provided for you. The stove and washing machine were a huge help, and having a fridge was a major convenience. The apt is situated just steps away from a major street which is great for shopping and also has a train station that can get you anywhere. Also, the apt is only a few minutes walk from all major tourist attractions, so if you are there to see the sights this is the perfect place. There are also great cafes, restaurants and bars in the immediate area. All in all, the apartment was exactly what we expected..
Excellent location, great facilities - would definitely recommend.
My wife and I stayed at apartment from April 25 to May 3,2007, and we agreed on the following review:
1.Location: next to all major musuems, restaurants, sites. Honestly, we walked to everything we wanted to see, drink, or eat. Perfect location.
2.Apartment: modern, very comfortable, quiet and secure. No noize from the street. Everything was high end - flat screen TV, new appliances, new kitchen, furniture, cool lighting, etc. Bed was comfy. The wellcome basket was a good idea!!!
We really enjoyed staying in this apartment.
Great apartment, near enough to walk to everything. Very comfortable and nice accomodations. Stuff in the fridge and the cupboards was a plus!
The landlord is wonderful--so nice and accomodating and the property is right in the heart of madrid, within walking distance to everything. would reccommend the place for anyone!
