Bastante cA³modos y sitio muy agradable y tranquilo.
This was our first stay at ‘villa Angela” in late June 2019 for 8 nights and our 3rd in the area. Hopefully this short review will help others to make an informed decision. Clear instructions were provided to find the location which is in a semi rural location in Macher near to the ‘Spar’ roundabout. Neighbours are within site but far enough away for it to feel private. The house itself has a ‘Moroccan style ‘ open square with plants leading up to a skylight with the various rooms around it. This is pleasant at night as floodlights can be switched on in the centre. Decor is perhaps not to everyone’s taste but I enjoyed the blue with white paint and although it did feel like I was in someone’s home it was not overly cluttered. The kitchen is well presented with quality Ikea plates and utensils; fridge-freezer is a good size, is fairly new keeps food and drink cold and there is a dishwasher that we did not use. Electric hob and a rather odd microwave convection oven. Unfortunately with no instructions it was a faff to try to use and as we enjoy cooking in this was disappointing but we overcame this by mostly cooking on the hob.
The kitchen leads to a rear BBQ area which provides respite in the evening from the wind when it cools. There is also a washing machine that works fine with sufficient pegs on the overhead clothesline. There are some benches with cushions that clearly had not been cleaned in some time with clumps of hair and dust everywhere, and evidence of previous BBQ dinners. I did my best to clean them on day 2. There are 3 bathrooms, all well presented and the one off the master bedroom has a rain shower with a small atrium off it with plants that illuminate at night with a spotlight which is very pleasant indeed. The water pressure is a bit hit and miss hence the shower switches off to the hand sprayer on occasion . The bed in the master bedroom is a good size and comfortable. The 2 single beds in rooms 2and 3 are not comfortable and rather tired. Bedding was OK but we had to wash pillowcases on day 2 as unfortunately some of them ‘smelled’ of other people (as did one or two of the actual pillows). The floors were also very dusty, this was rectified on day 2 and after several buckets of black water they were to my standard (no black feet walking around) and remained so for our stay.
The pool area is very spacious with 6 sun loungers, all in good condition. There is also a sturdy table with 4 chairs and a further round plastic table with 2 chairs. There is a sun umbrella but oddly no stand hence we had to affix it to a chair ‘Robinson Crusoe' style. The pool decking has been whitewashed with masonry paint so sunglasses are recommended. It didn’t look like it has been hosed down for a considerable time; this was done on day 2 and remained very clean for the duration. The pool itself is a good size and wasn’t too cold. There were a great deal of leaves on the pool cover surface and on the bottom of the pool, and there was a green layer of algae all around the rim. I noted no sign of new ‘chlorine pucks’ in the poolside filters and there was a PH warning on the poolroom machinery. The filter system doesn’t seem to be working correctly from the amount of debris in the water despite my best efforts. Two workmen arrived on day 4 and were in the pool machine room for about 30 minutes. They did not service the pool and from all of the above I suspect this is not done as regularly as it should be. There are floodlights around the pool, although no instructions were left these can be switched on from the circuit breaker in the pool machine room.
We did not require air conditioning on this trip but I did test the living room and master bedroom, they both worked fine. The WiFi simply did not work at all. It is a Huawei dongle with no ethernet/adsl connection. I tried it outside in the hope the house may have been blocking the signal but to no avail. Download speed tested .005mbs, no hope there and in 2019 this is unacceptable, particularly when the property is advertised as having WiFi. I am a technical person and I can assure you it does not. We relied on tethering from our phones at a significant additional expense to us.
The TV is a ‘smart TV’ but with no WiFi it serves no purpose unless you like German freeview and 2 or 3 English news channels. The sound system in the dining area is very good although 2of the speakers don’t work and there is an additional amp that is not wired up so I am unsure of its purpose other than ‘clutter'.
At night the bench and table outside the front provide a wonderful unobstructed view of the night sky and a great place to star gaze as there is little light pollution.
Overall I would rate this property 6/10 and would stay here again (and rate it much higher) if the owners rectified some of the issues I have highlighted which would be sort the WiFi, pool, some cleaning issues and some instructions generally for the property and appliances.
We had a really pleasant stay; the villa is lovely and particularly quiet.
