Town house overview - owner's description

A holiday home set in a Spanish village with everything you need for a family break nearby. Only 50m to a sandy beach, stunning views; free Wi Fi. Rooms all on one level, safely enclosed terraces.

An attractive, well equipped, beach-front house located in the quiet village of Los Urrutias, with stunning views over the Mar Menor from the full size rooftop and front terraces. A retractable awning fitted to the rear provides much needed shade in the afternoon. Murcia airport is 15 minutes away, Alicante about an hour via the AP7. The beach and warm inland sea (the Mar Menor) are literally on the door step and very suitable for children of all ages. In high season the nearby marina and sailing club offers a very reasonable set lunch time menu, wind surfing and sailing lessons. There are several bars, shops, restaurants and a supermarket within easy walking distance. For more choice and a bustling Tuesday market, Los Alcazares is about 10 minutes drive away along a stunning coastline that includes a nature reserve. In high season the village is much busier, with more shops open and a larger Thursday market. The nearby marina and its restaurant is a focal point for the Spanish holiday makers, making the area more vibrant in July and August than during the rest of the year. A full information booklet about the area and places to visit is in the house. A free WiFi service is installed, which is suitable for emails, surfing the net and accessing social media. The password is kept in the visitor information booklet in the sitting room and on the router.

The house inside and out, with included extras
Inside the property there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, a fitted kitchen and a lounge-dining room. The house also has two terraces/patios with tables, chairs, parasols and sun beds, plus a large roof terrace with an essential shaded area. Amongst the many other items provided for guests’ use are two adult bikes, two sets of golf clubs (club players only please), a BBQ, a cool box, lots of beach towels and a hammock.

Further details of what is included.
The comfortable lounge has comfortable furniture (3 seater, 2 seater sofas and a chair), plus a dining area with table and chairs. It is equipped with electric heating/air con, DVD player, radio and iPod player together with a wide screen TV with satellite system showing English channels. An assortment of maps, DVDs, books, games and puzzles are kept in the sideboard for everyone to use all year round, but the wood burning fireplace (safely enclosed) is only appreciated by those staying in mid winter.

The house also has a fully fitted kitchen including microwave, toaster, large fridge freezer, full electric cooker and a washing machine. Bedroom 1 has a king sized bed, air con, hair dryer, en-suite bathroom and large fitted wardrobes. Bedrooms 2 and 3 both have twin beds - one has a fitted wardrobe, the other a chest of drawers. There is also a separate shower room and WC.
This is a holiday home suitable for families - a bit of sand is not a problem! There are some beach toys and an umbrella which everyone is welcome to use.

Very enjoyable stay in the comfortable villa.Being low season, the village and street were very quiet. The back patio was a lovely suntrap when it was a bit windy at the front. The kitchen was well supplied with everything we needed. The British TV programmes were we!come on the evenings we were not out.Paddy Singhs Restaurant and bar provided good entertainment, within 5 minutes walk. We did not have a driver among us so Bob picked us up at the airport and was a great help to us. The villa was close to the Marina so it was nice to observe the coming and going of the yachts.A very pleasant 10 days were spent in a very comfortable villa.

Many thanks for such an excellent review, it's good to know that our efforts to provide everything renters' need in a holiday home are appreciated. Although we do recommend hiring a car, the review also demonstrates that, with Bob's help (he's the property manager) it is quite possible to manage without. Lindsay

The house is nice, everything you need is available. The house is near the beach. The beach 8 minutes to the right is the best cleanest and quietest beach. The beaches at Las Urrutias are nice. The water is very shallow and warm. This year millions of jellyfish were in The Mar Menor. There are nets to keep them from the beaches. We liked the beaches at Calblanque better. No jellyfish and waves, beautiful nature.
However the house could use a new sofa and armchairs and a new umbrella outside. The vans make a lot of noise and are going in every direction, but Bob assured us they were safe. The airco and vans are very nice, because it can be hot in summer. We liked the roofterrace en had our meals there, because you have a nice view and wind. We inflated the tires of the two bikes and cycled along the beach. Very nice to have them! Bob and Fran are very helpfull and hospitable. We had a lovely time.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Beachfront House! The villa had all the essentials for a family of 5. The kids loved spending lots of time at the beach, which is only a few minutes stroll away. It was fabulous to sip wine on the very large roof terrace and we also enjoyed eating on the rear patio.

Still, we dined out most evenings, and we found many restaurants with good value for money. We would love to come again. The place would suit someone looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday.

We found it was good for our kids not to have too many distractions, but could concentrate on being together, the sea, eating out and enjoying the sun.

Thank you for your kind words, however, the review was for another house in the next Village to us.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. the resort is very quiet but that was what we expected and wanted. Villa was very comfortable and had everything you would need. Supermarket handy, just a short stroll away. Reasonable selec tion of eating places within easy walking distance. The only thing that spoiled things were the flies - they were a real pest when sitting outside in this area - this could though have been particular to that time of year and the fact theyd had a lot of rain followed by the hot sunny weather when we were there.

Excellent property and would have no hesitation in recommending if for anyone wanting a holiday in the Los Urrutias area. Having stopped in two other properties in the area this far exceeded either of them. It had everything you could need inside and outside the property. There was full English TV which was useful on a bad day. Hope to go back in the future.

Lovely property close to the beach..about 5 mins walk...I would say better than depicted in photos! Set in a very quiet area, very Spanish and very beautiful. The house was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. Only complaint was lack of air conditioning in all but main bedroom and living room. Nights were very uncomfortable in the other two bedrooms with ceiling fans not really adequate. Loads of outside space, particularly on the rooftop, with lovely views down to the Marina and sea. But best of all were the two bikes which were fantastic for a little ride along the beach front! If you seek a nice quiet, relaxed holiday this is the place to be! Would highly recommend it.

This was our second visit to the beach house with our family and grandson having enjoyed it so much in 2009. The house is in a super position overlooking the marina and very handy for the local bars and restaurants and the supermarket, in a lovely quiet area. We didnt hire a car on either visit as we didnt it think it necessary - we arranged to be collected and dro pped off at the airport by Martin, who looks after the property. Our grandson loved the roof terrace - we put a paddling pool up there and the water soon got warm! We would certainly recommend a visit to this property.

Extra information

The property is very quiet for most of the year, but gets noisier in July and August when the Spanish holidaymakers arrive and more shops open. The nearby marina is always busy, with lots of boats coming in and out and racing at weekends. In high season the club offers sailing and windsurfing lessons, together with a restaurant catering for families. A nearby small leisure complex offers tennis, a pool and bars and restaurants. There is also a tapas bar and other bars and restaurants nearby Back at the villa, the roof terrace is a wonderful place to relax, with sunbeds and a much needed shade over part of this large space, which extends over the whole house. Being right by the sea there is often a welcome breeze. The terrace at the rear of the house has recently been fitted with a retractable awning to provide more shade when needed, and to keep the kitchen cooler in high summer. Most meals are taken outside, where there is a dining table and chairs and charcoal BBQ.

My sister and I own the house jointly and vist several times a year for holidays, golf and to do January jobs. I enjoy the winter sun and log fires, my sister loves the heat. We are both now retired from stressful full time jobs and are enjoying my grandchildren, looking after our allotments and doing some consultancy work.
