Country house to rent in Los Romanes, Spain
Country house overview - owner's description
A beautiful and individual country house. The house has wonderful views with hills and the Mediterranean forming an almost 360 degree backdrop. Situated in the hills between Los Romanes & Benamargosa.
The house is a one-off built in the hills between Los Romanes and Benamargosa. It benefits from stunning views sweeping around from Mount Maroma past the Med at Torre del Mar and around to the valley below Comares. Set on its' own plot it is ideal for those looking for a peaceful holiday retreat whilst within easy distance of Velez-Malaga and the seaside town of Torre del Mar. Perfect for walking, mountain biking or even bird watching as the eagles fly past the house. The house offers a tranquil, relaxing setting which is perfect for families or couples.
The house is a perfect base for exploring the countryside whether on foot, car or, if you are feeling really fit, by mountain bike!
Across the valley you will see the village of Comares, which dates from Medieval times and is said to be the highest village in Andalucia. Walk a short distance northwards up the track at the side of the house and you will be rewarded with views over Lake Viñuela with Mount Maroma towering above.
The village of Benamargosa lies in the valley to the south of the property and a few kilometres to the south is the town of Velez-Malaga with its 13th Century fort . Just above the house are the remains of an ancient atalaya (lookout post) with a more complete tower visible a few kilometres to the east.

This was a lovely, well equipped, clean villa with stunning views all round, it was extremely private and peaceful with the only noise being the odd dog barking. We had everything we needed, and more, for a perfect holiday, was nice to have Tony nearby if we had needed, local village lovely, icing on cake was fly by from birds of prey! Pool very welcome, not huge but just right for cooling off, BBQ area excellent, as was dining area outside, we didn't stay in at all, but there is TV and videos if you had wanted. We would thoroughly recommend this villa
We found the villa to be all we could possibly need. However,a little outdated and tired internally. The views from the villa were superb, especially at night.
The access to the property was heart stopping to say the least. Due to us having a family and requiring a nine seater mini bus to transport us and our luggage to the villa, the drive to the villa from the main road was a very risky business.
Large groups travelling to this villa need to be aware that only a 4x4 vehicle is the safe way to go.
Also, I note in the small print of the rentacars terms & conditions that the insurance does not cover any off road incidents ????
The hair pin bend on the driveway to the property needs to be extended to allow a safer turning circle.
All this said we did enjoy our stay.
Casa Torre is a beautiful place to stay, private and un-overlooked, but within easy driving distance to the town and beaches. It is very clean and extremely well equipped with everything you need. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and much appreciated - the best we have had.
Good solid barbecue, lovely shaded area to eat out of the sun, plenty of comfortable sunbeds. Sunshine all around the villa with beautiful views of the hills and mountains.
The pool was very clean and serviced twice while we were there for a week.
Contact with Tony was easy.
A lovely holiday which we would recommend.

Excellent accommodation up rather scary road. Beautiful scenery and felt we were in the real Spain and not tourist Spain. Our Villa Manager Tony provided an excellent service .Overall an excellent holiday which we hope to repeat.........we even got used to the road!!!
Wow!!! I'm at a bit of a loss for words to sum up how fantastic this place is. The location is stunning, the views are amazing, the villa is gorgeous. Have you ever walked into a home and got that special feeling that's hard to put into words but just feels right? That's how this whole area grabbed us. Tony and Lindi were the icing on the cake - there if we needed them, but never intruded (thank you so much). If you're thinking of booking this, do it!
