Villa overview - owner's description
Detached air conditioned two bedroom villa with large roof terrace. Sleeps 4. Near Murcia airport and beach. Ideal for families.
The Villa is well situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in an urbanisation within a few minutes walking distance of restaurants, bars, cafes, shops and supermarkets to suit a variety of tastes.
Los Narajos and adjoining Los Alcazares are family seaside resorts and are also excellent bases for sightseeing, cycling, golf or just relaxing on the beaches of the beautiful Mar Menor nearby. San Javier (Murcia) airport is 10 minutes by car from the villa. Car hire is available from the airport and locally. There is a weekly market. Papers and Internet are available nearby. Coaches go to Murcia and Cartagena. There is an Urban bus-route just 2 minutes away to Los Alcazares. Almost everywhere is flat, landscaped and attractive and has cycle lanes.
Detached and single-story, Casa de las Uvas accommodates up to 4 people in two bedrooms; a double and a twin. In addition the villa has a lounge, dining room, kitchen, walk-in shower room, covered utility area, patio, and garden.
The Villa is comfortably air-conditioned and furnished to provide a home from home.
It is well equipped with a ceramic hob and oven, a large fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee-maker, kettle, washing machine, tv, radio and dvd player and the usual crockery, cutlery and linen, including bedding and towels.
The rooms have shutters, blinds and fans
There are ample maps, guides, phrase books novels and dvds to assist and entertain.
The large sun terrace-roof is a popular feature of the villa for al-fresco dining and also has parasols, sun loungers and cushions.
A paved garden area provides shade under established lemon, nectarine and medlar trees surrounded by flower beds, ideal for relaxing. Under the grape vine is an area with a wooden bench, chairs and table for snacks, decorated with plants in pots, plus an outside shower for cooling off!
The Mar Menor
A salt-water, almost landlocked, lagoon (the largest in Europe) the Mar Menor has calm and shallow water warmer than the Med that feeds it. It is safe for children to play in and pleasant for swimming. Said to have medicinal properties due to its high mineral content, the waters and mud are used in spa treatments and first brought fame to the area.
In season a variety of water-sports, coaching and entertainments are available. Lifeguards are in attendance. There are showers and facilities to hire sunbeds under thatched parasols. Most bars offer toilet facilities to all.
The area has a wonderful micro climate with sun on average 320 days a year.
The clean, sandy beach is bordered by a wide palm-tree lined promenade housing tapas bars and several small playgrounds.

The villa was as the advert, very visitor friendly with numerous additions to make you feel comfortable. All appliances in kitchen were excellent though kitchen was not a two person area, thanks then for the gas barbecue which let us share the load. If you want UK tv then this is not for you but what it does do is get you up and out or lets you practice your Spanish. The roof terrace was excellent ,with comfy sunbeds, and, colourful, with the large pots in flower. We had access to the bikes which made the holiday so much better being able to travel further afield than normally possible on two feet and it gets you fit!! and works of the excess wine!!
The reason for marking down on cleanliness is we found cutlery, crockery and glassware to be "murky" but we think this may be down to the standard of washing up liquid and to letting the items dry naturally rather than drying by hand
This villa provided an ideal location for our visit to Murcia region. The sun terrace was super and once we had investigated the surrounding area we found the property was pretty central to most of the activities we visited for.
It was very warm, the week we went, so we didnt really use the TV much, so no we had no issue with the that. The washing machine and drying facilities were the only thing we had to some trouble with. The spin cycle didnt work and the service centre did warn us that the open lever had broken. But it was possible to do a wash or two. Would definately book this villa again.
Casa de las Uvas is a great homely place for a holiday. Everything we needed was there. The Spanish and International neighbours round about are very friendly. I wonder who was the little child who kept running up to us saying, "Ola amigo". It is certainly one way to learn the pronounciation.
We prepared our meals in a well equiped kitchen starting with a lovely welcome pack and ate them inside, or the porch, or up on the roof watching the sky. One night it got dark as we sat there and eventually we heard the firrewoks anouncing the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. This area was once dominated by the moors after all. We could walk to the shops in the early morning so we could return before the sun hit hard or go by car or by the house bikes. They were the best way to go to the beach and either lie on the sand or swim and float in the water.
I cannot say this exceeded my expectations because we holidayed there last year. How about "Very satisfied"... We Knew it would be a lovely place to live in. And the morning air display did not disappoint us. Now none of speaks Spanish well enough to follow the TV weather forecaster but the pictures of floods, thunderstorms and giant hail in other parts of Spain made us very thankful not to be there - our weather was fabulous. The oddest thing we had was a sandstorm in the middle of the night. There wasnt much but it was just as well that the Utility Area is now closed off or it might have made a mess of the bikes that we cycled on down to the beaches. Oh, its now possible to see our Breakfast Table on Google Earth
The villa was great and seemed to have every thing we needed. The sun terrace was lovely too & a welcome extra living space, although a bit hot during the middle of the day! Thanks must go to the owners who left lots of information and advice in the villa to help us enjoy our stay there.
