Winter Sun at a bargain price at Fortuna, a historic Spa town
Step back from the coast, let Fortunas hot springs soothe your soul, and sink into a traditional Spanish life in the mountains of Murcia.
Las Kalendas, where Villa Kalendas is based is across from Fortunas historic Spas and Thermal hot pools.
Open all year, where even in January you can while away the hours outdoors soaking in a thermal pool. The sun really does shine nearlyeveryday, and you can lounge by the pool even in December.
While the temperature in the private pool does dro p in the Winter-within 4 mins drive you have a choice of 2 outdoor heated pools (37 Celsius)-La Fuente and the Thermal Natural Mineral waters at Leana,Spa Hotel.
These pools have loungers and sunbeds to lap up the Wintersun, in between your dips in the pool.Prices are very reasonable for full day lounging.Great value and entertainment for kids while you can read your book undisturbed. There are also pool bars and cafes-again great value compared to Coastal prices.
Fortuna offers a slice of heaven with a serious slice of history and outdoor enjoyment. Its a traditional town in the mountains of northwest Murcia, well away from the tourist hustle and bustle of the coast.
Its streets and squares are atmospheric places to while away the day with a coffee and book, while its heralded spa is a glorious time machine - youll wonder where the time disappeared and you will also feel a whole lot younger when you leave!
On the fringes of town are a group of important and intriguing archaeological sites, some that date back to the Bronze Age. Just a short walk from home and you will be able to delve into the diggings, explore sacred caves and observe the ancient Roman inscriptions - talk about an open-air museum!
For those who really want to stretch their legs, two large nearby parks offer wildlife, walking and hiking in scenic surroundings. The Sierra de la Pila Regional Park has 50km of hiking trails alone.
Holidaying in Fortuna gives you a true slice of rural Spanish life and yet, you are still only an hour or so drive from the coast. Though, we have a feeling if you are the Fortuna type, you would sooner point your compass west and spend your time wine tasting in Jumilla and Yecla.

13 out of 15 people recommend staying here
No problems from clickstay would defiantly be recommending and using you again. The only problem we experienced was from the owners who blamed us for breaking there pool pump which we never did, I would like to add it was all ready broken when we got there but as they saw some toys around the pool they put the blame of us to get out of giving us back our 200 breakaway deposit. Complained that had about 16 people in the villa at a time which is totally diabolical. The most we had at the villa was 6 people at a time and there was no rules I place to say how people were allowed in the villa.
This is our second visit to the villa and me and my family loved it.
The villa is nice and clean and the swimming pool is fantastic my kids wanted to be in the pool 24/7
The local agent larry is such a nice and very helpful person who would make sure the pool is cleaned often
I would highly recommend this villa to everyone and will be looking to return in the future
Thanks
The sharpe family
Just spent a week at the villa, found the villa to be really lovely, very clean and spacious. The pool is an excellent size.
getting from the airport was easier than expected and found the villa no problem. There is a great indian restaurant on the complex. The nearby camp site has a pub run by an English couple that provides lovely food
The area is very quiet and you definitely need a car to get to shops and to get around, we went to Benidorm for the day and Murcia too
My only small issue with this villa was we were asked to wash off sun cream before entering the pool, which made it difficult making sure kids did not get burned as they wanted to spend all day in the pool and it was very hot when we where there
We are a retired couple who like things clean and comfortable and expect properties to be as described and illustrated. This spacious property was in a good location but was disappointing in a lot of ways. Indoor seating was either broken or uncomfortable, covers throws were made from old curtains and were in need of washing, sun loungers did not have cushions (as illustrated) no canopy for outside static table (this is in full sun 10am - sunset). Paid 50 euros locally for cleaning but on arrival we were not impressed with the cleanliness of the villa especially the kitchen. No linen change during 2 weeks stay - washing machine and detergent were available but did not expect to have to launder/iron sheets, towels etc. half way through our holiday. Outside patio had several unsafe tiles. Described as quiet and peaceful - not true - barking resident dogs and when other villas are occupied it can be very noisy indeed. We would not return to this villa nor would we recommend it to anyone else.
We had a lovely holiday at Villa Kalendas, it met all of our expectations, the Villa was lovely and clean and the pool. It was nice to be met by Larry and if there was any problems he was just around the corner. I would definately recommend the Villa to friends.
this villa was brill had everthing you could ask for larry the pool man was great we arrived sunday afternoon and he took us to a local resturant and sorted us out some food yes please holiday here and have a great time like we did oh the pool is massive
