Apartment overview - owner's description

Fabulous two bedroom ground floor apartment with a very large sunny terrace. Perfect for family, winter and golfing holidays. Within minutes of La Cala Village.

This 2 bed, 2 bath apartment is perfect for a family holiday, a winter long let or a golfing break in the sun.
No detail has been overlooked and the large terrace even has a pool table for your enjoyment. The kitchen is fully fitted and the little ones have been catered for with their own cups and bowls. The living room and diner has been furnished to a very high standard. The comfortable leather sofas are ideal for watching your favorite programmes as the apartment has sat TV with free view channels. Free WI FI.

The master bedroom boasts an en suite bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and overhead shower. The twin room has its own bathroom next door with a great walk in shower, ideal after a day on the beach or on the golf course.
The huge terrace has sun loungers, a terrace table with room for six for al fresco dining and even a pool table for extra entertainment.
The communal pool and gardens are very well maintained and just a short stroll from the apartment so no lifts or steps to worry about.

The Resort
La Cala de Mijas is popular for those who want a relaxing holiday yet close enough to walk to all facilities. There is a Lidl supermarket beside the urbanization offering incredible value for money and it has a butchers, fishmongers and bakery section. You don’t even need a car, transfers from Malaga airport are reasonable and the main bus stop is outside the urbanization. You can go to Fuengirola or Malaga on the frequent bus service and from Fuengirola there is a train every 30 mins for just over €2 to the airport. For those of you who enjoy a short stroll, the market is only 10 minutes away on Wednesday and Saturday and you can pick up all your fruit and veg straight from the farmers stalls. The local restaurants offer the catch from the fishing boats which go out early morning and supply the "chiringuitos" along the beach. There are bars and restaurants in the commercial area beside the apartments, There are various restaurants and bars to suit all tastes, La Cala does not have a strip of high rise hotels and has retained the charm of the little fishing village it once was. You can meet the locals and enjoy their traditional "menu del dia" or workers lunch, 3 courses plus bread and wine for as little as €8. One of the best known snack bars on the Costa del Sol "Snack attack" open from 07.30 for breakfast and some great bars and restaurants. The large supermarkets are within walking distance and the beach is only a short stroll away. The area is very flat so it’s perfect for people who have difficulty with steps and hills.

I arrived on a Saturday and so had to collect keys from a drop safe, which was no problem. However, the instructions on how to find the property were, to say the least, skimpy and misleading and I had to make a phone call to identify where the building was. To get there one has to walk behind some hedges and find the building. The hedges were not mentioned at all! Anyway, I got in and the apartment proved to be extremely well appointed, with two leather settees and six leather dining chairs around a very attractive table. The kitchen was well-equipped and the master bed was very comfortable. Plenty of towels also.

The wifi worked very well, thankfully! There is a Smart Samsung TV and a DVD player but the satellite box , which was an old original Pace box was not connected to anything. There was another box which purported to be some sort of satellite system but it also had nothing on it so effectively there was only Spanish terrestrial TV to watch. Fortunately for me I have friends living in La Cala and one of them lent me a hard drive with 100+ films on it so I was OK but a family might have a problem with this fault.

The outside terrace is enormous and there is even a pool table and I managed to get the sun all day everyday until about 5pm.

All in all this was an extremely good value holiday and the facilities were superb.
