Lovely 1 bedroom apartment on an attractive complex. Great for golf holidays, couples & small families

The apartment is located in the Terrazas de la Paz complex on the 1st Floor (top floor penthouse), which is only 10 minutes from the airport. The 2 large terraces have wonderful sea views. The lounge comprises of a double sofabed, TV, and the dining area seats four people. The bedroom sleeps two people, having 2 single beds, and has a large wardrobe for your belongings, and the fully fitted kitchen includes an oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge.

The apatment it has been completely renovated less than a year ago !!

There are, free of charge, two golf bags with a complete set of irons, drivers and fairway woods; for right handed men.

Complex and resort information
Terrazas de la Paz boasts two heated swimming pools. Its only a five minute walk to the Commercial Centre, where you will find plenty of bars, restaurants & shops. Golf del Sur is built around a 27 hole Championship golf course right on the coast, and is a beautiful oasis of greenery. In addition to the golf you can find a brand new Championship bowling green, crazy golf, gymnasiums and saunas.
It's wonderful go walking alongside the coastline, in which you'll find the sea in on hand, and, on the other hand side, restaurants, golf courses, shops ... If you need relax, golf, food ... you will be in the right place.

We are an easy going couple and not people that usually complains in fact this is the first time I have ever done so. Having lived in this complex for 9 months a couple of years ago and holidayed 3 other times in various apartments we know the resort and area very well.

On arrival our first impression was that the apartment was a bit tired and needed a bit of updating. There was a badly photocopied list of useful telephone numbers and one for cases of emergency, I considered ringing to complain about things however as this was not an emergency didnt. There was a note from the agent/owner apologising for the damp damage to the walls caused by the previous tenant which they had not had time to repair which was ok as these things happen. There was a welcome pack of sorts which would be useful for those who did not know where the supermarket was, can I suggest that they include milk. We know the area well but for those that dont a few leaflets and a map showing where the supermarket is would be useful

The first thing we did was to open the patio doors which was very difficult due to the crude locking mechanism and them sticking on the runners however as we had encounter these problems in other apartments knew the knack to open them. My husband used a bit of vegetable oil from the kitchen to oil the runners so this helped a bit.

Golf del Sur is a windy place so most of the apartments facing the sea have windows on the terrace wall as a wind barrier. Having lived on the complex I know the windows and patio doors get very dusty and need regular cleaning, shame that they were not cleaned a day or so prior to us arriving. The windows were that dirty that the lovely view was impaired so badly that I cleaned them and after 9 days and some rain they were still cleaner than when we arrived, in fact from my experience I would say the windows hadnt been cleaned for a few weeks. The patio doors were marginally cleaner so didnt do these but they needed cleaning.

The apartment is advertised as able to accommodate 4 but as there were only two patio chairs it was a good job there were only two of us.

The sofa and chair were that grubby that we put the spare blankets on them. I know this is a sofabed so would be expensive to replace and that fabric gets grubby quickly with people sitting on them with suntan lotion on but surely the landlord can afford a throw.

The kitchen is reasonably equipped however everything we went to use was sticky so before we using anything including cups, plates, cutlery etc we washed them. By the way can you tell the owner the microwave is broken, when warming milk for cereal we found it only got luke warm no matter how long you put it on for and it doesnt switch off. Space in the kitchen was limited and as the shelf in the tall cupboard is being held up by a kettle in a box and another item virtually most of that shelf was full. The draws come off the runners every time you opened them so in the end we kept the cutlery and carving knives etc on top of the microwave.

There is other stuff I could mention but I am not really complaining about the apartment being tired (apart from the tall kitchen cupboard) as you get what you pay for but one would expect the place to be at least clean and not to have to set to and wash the equipment and windows.

Oh and by the way you are advertising the apartment as having British TV, it did until mid February when the frequencies where changed and now they cant get them and the president of the complex said that it was going to be expensive to rectify so they were not looking to upgrade in the near future.

Despite all of the above we had a lovely time and it was good to catch up with old friends, we will go back to this complex again at the end of the year but not to this apartment as there are others that dont cost much more and are not as tatty.

Seriously, Dont bother until the owner makes the fixes, which were listed in 2012, but which are still very much in attendance !!!

The bottle shelf in the SMALL fridge was still broken, (Lots of glue showing where the wire guard had been stuck back in many times), so after my first bottle of wine smashed when I opened the door & the guard just fell off, I then stored the wine on the patio. Luckily, the patio doors STILL don’t lock with any ease, so I could easily get to my wine!
Although there was a bath, AND a plug, there was no actual tap! There were two shower heads though, so as long as you don’t suffer from bad backs and want a long hot soak, then it is fine.
There is no light in the kitchen, I used to unplug the standard lamp in the lounge (with 40 watt bulb), carry it into the kitchen, cook my food, carry it back to the lounge, then into the bedroom at night to read – It was like a modern day version of the candle & tinderbox!
I don’t normally feel so strongly that I leave a review, but I feel really cheated by the quality of the apartment, knowing the quality of other apartments I have stayed in, PLUS the fact that I had to pay a non-refundable damage deposit of EUR 36.00, OR, I could have paid over EUR 300 if I wanted it refunded – SERIOUSLY? I am a middle aged woman, travelling alone, in Golf Del Sur – hardly party central!
I confess I was tempted to rip out the fridge & throw it over the terrace, so at least the next person staying there might have been able to store a bottle of wine in it without drama!
On the up-side, the bed was VERY comfortable indeed, and I did get a nice bottle of red as my welcome gift! (Red, so I didn’t have to put it in the fridge!)
It was clean enough, and if you are just dro pping your bags off, eating out every night, it’s fine as a covered sleeping area, but if you plan on spending any time there at all, I’d do another search before opting for this one.

We didnt intend to spend much time in the property. Thats why we were annoyed when the patio doors wouldnt lock. I know there is a safe in the bedroom, but we still didnt like the idea that anyone could climb in and go through our luggage. The owner said hed try and sort it. He didnt bother.

The toaster didnt work. The fridge door doesnt hold anything and the shower leaks in three places. The description says satellite/cable TV but a disconnected satellite dish sat outside on the patio wall.

Its a shame as the appartment is nice and it is clean and cool to sit in. But I could not recommend it in its current condition unless the owner upgrades his basic kitchen and bathroom equipment or changes his product description to give a more realistic impression.

Lovely, clean, spacious apartment in an excellent location. Extremly quiet and the pools were lovely. we had a welcome package on arrival that was much appreciated. My only negative is that there was no english TV programmes when you just want to stay in and chill out. If the tv issue was sorted i would definately book this apartment again.

"This was the first time that we have gone self-catering in an apartment and we were very happy with it. There was everything we needed and even though it was on the flight path for the airport we found that it caused us no trouble at all. In fact, we quite enjoyed watching the planes coming in. We soon found out that when the planes come in from a different direction we were in for rain. As it was December we expected some rain but for 12 days out of the 14 the weather was 24 degs with a lovely breeze that made it really comfortable. The apartment was within a short distance of the San Blas where we ate and bought our groceries and near a bus stop so that we could go further afield."
