Great casita located about 3km from the town of Monforte Del Cid on the owner’s property. If you want a relaxing break away from the hussle and bussle of Benidorm and Alicante town, this is definitely for you. The owners were wonderful throughout the experience. Before we arrived Lynda quickly answered all our questions regardless of how trivial they were. Justin, her husband, was a real gent and came to pick us up from the airport, giving us a great précis of the local area as we made our way to the property. Due to its locality, it was remiss of us not to book a hire car and I would highly recommend doing so. Had Justin not been so kind we would have really struggled to get anywhere because there are no real local taxi firms. So yes, hire a car. The casita sits just behind the owner’s home. No need to worry too much about security because there is a large iron gate that is always closed and the owner’s have security cameras too. Peace of mind. The inside of the property is better than expected. As with most properties of this ilk they are very basic, but there’s enough in the casita to make it feel more homely, like freeview, DVD (with an assortment of movies), PlayStation and Wii. There are also books available and a few board games too. The couches are comfortable, which is always a bonus. The kitchen has a gas cooker and fridge. There is also a large freezer in an outhouse that the owner’s allowed us to use, which is great when you’re buying food for the whole week. The beds are comfortable and are all double sized. Large wardrobes allow even the most hardcore shopper room to store their wares. There is also a travel cot and intercom. The property states it has air con, but that’s only in the double bedroom. Don’t worry though. Each room as ceiling fans! To be honest, I was worried we’d be too hot in the night, but we only used the air con to cool the room down about half an hour before going to bed and just relied on the ceiling fans, which did the job. And yes, it has WiFi! The signal is strong in all the rooms too. But the best part of the casita is outside. The pool is fantastic - it’s clean and has a dept of about six feet at the deep end. There are enough loungers to please the sun worshippers and a few inflatables for the kids (though check with the owner’s before you go in case they’ve got rid of them). There’s also an outside shower and bbq. For entertainment you have a sound system under the pagoda. A pub sized pool table and best of all an outdoor cinema! That was a real highlight watching the movies under the stars. Justin and Lynda are very affable and find that right balance of allowing you privacy but also being on hand in case you need them. Oh yes, there’s someone else you’ll meet too. Winnie, a beautiful and friendly Labrador that (if you wish) will happily jump into the pool with you and play catch. Being dog lovers we embraced Winnie, and toward the end of the week were really sad to say goodbye to her. Her temperament around children is great. She doesn’t bark and just likes you to throw her ball. There is a gate leading into the pool area so if you don’t like dogs you can lock her out too. Overall, for the price it’s an great place to go to relax and top up your tan. Thanks to Lynda and Justin once again for being so kind and making our stay a relaxing one.Read more
We had a fabulous week long stay at casa largo, Margret and Brian were great and stayed up extra late/very early for our arrival. The welcome package was fantastic and got us off to a great start. The house was lovely and clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The courtyard, outside dining and pool areas were fantastic, clean, very private and had plenty of seating in the sun and shade. You could easily stay out there all day long! Only an hour away from the coast this was a great place to stay away from the hustle and bustle but close enough for a day trip. We managed Albacete, Murcia, Alicante, Benidorm and a few more local towns and villages. There are plenty of things to see and do in the area so plan ahead to make the most of it. You get great views from the top of the castle at Jumilla! Pinoso was just a short car journey away and had everything we needed petrol, shopping, bars and restaurants a plenty. We ate at both local restaurants one very Spanish ( we need to brush up!) And one very english no phrase book needed here, both pleasant and within walking distance of the house.Read more
An absolutely wonderful property set in a very quiet village which is only a stone throw from the airport and resorts. Very spacious and homely with some lovely touches. Pool and outside seating area, where we spent most of our time was the icing on the cake. Hot tub was an added bonus in the evening. Local shop was a five minute walk away or you could drive to the Hiper Dino supermarket in Playa Honda, which was a seven minute drive. We took a couple of minutes walk a few times down to the fabulous Gin bar for drunks and tapas, where they will also ring a taxi to take you to where you want to go. This Finca and village is a hidden gem, where you can get anywhere pretty easily and quickly. The owners are very nice and at hand if needed. We will be returning very soon.Read more
Loved our stay at casa de pepe. It was more than we expected. Great place to get away from it all but still having all the mod cons if you need it. There is plenty of space for a family, couple or friends who just want a relaxing hols or explore the area. Could never get tired of the views. Fantastic hosts Luc and Jane who will do anything to make sure that your holiday is one to remember. We will be back. Thankyou xxRead more
Had a very pleasant stay here with extended family in July 2018. We've stayed in many rented houses in Andalusia over the past years and this is one of the nicest we've stayed in. The property is as described and as pictured. But there are a things potential renters should be aware of. Firstly, you only have access to the bottom floor of the main house (top floor unoccupied). The shower room in the main house is in effect a walk through area. This wasn't a huge deal for us, but you might want to bear it in mind if you're sharing the property. The pool house is small, but can easily accommodate 2 adults and has its won toilet/shower. Secondly, as others have noted, the access to the property might be an issue for some drivers. The drive from Competa to the property takes about 15 - 20 minutes. Its a surfaced road but without edge barriers in some places. Most drivers will find it OK. The last 750 m or so from that road down to the property is an unsurfaced dirt track, steep in places, some of which are quite narrow. Its ok after you've driven it a few times, but there are only a few places where 2 cars can pass each other, so you may have to reverse up or down if you meet someone else on the track. For us these slight negatives were outweighed by the positives. There's loads of outside space, so even if there are a few of you it won't feel crowded. There's a large shaded patio beside the kitchen, with a large table and chairs for mealtimes. There's a great charcoal BBQ and pizza/bread oven. The pool is a good size, with plenty of space around it for sun loungers. The property is mainly south facing and the views down the valley to the sea are super. Overall, I'd be happy to recommend it if you're looking for peace and quiet in a rural location.Read more
