Finca overview - owner's description
A perfect combination of enjoying the Spanish country side, while at the same time having the luxury of the small scale touristic adventures nearby. The house lies in protected area, so it is quite and secluded.
The house has recently been refurbished. Two years ago it was an old ruin and now it is a very comfortable holiday home. The house has fully equipped kitchen and a washing machine and dryer. The house has large openings between the hallway, the sitting area and the dining room and kitchen, which makes the place very spacious, unlike many other Spanish houses. It also makes the inside of the house feel much more modern than the outside of the house may suggest. As the house lies in protected area, the outside of the house still has all the characteristics and the the atmosphere of an old farm, like many of the neighbours.
The house is very suitable in summertime as well as winter time, as there is air-conditioning in the bedrooms and central heating in the whole house. The spring and autumn are especially nice for golfers looking for a nice break. The island is very well known for the many golf courses and one of them, Val D'or, is only 8 km from the house.

The are two terraces which are very well situated. The back terrace, near the sitting room, is in summer the perfect morning terrace because it is in the shade it is also a great terrace for the evening as you can see the sun set behind the hill. The side terrace, which is near the kitchen, is very nice on a hot summer evening (shade) or in other seasons it is the perfect sunny breakfast terrace. There is always a good spot to settle down. The house lies in protected area, so it is not possible to biuld a proper pool. There is however an aboveground pool of 4.5m diameter and 1.2m deep. Enough for the children to play in and for the grown-ups to cool down.

I have visited the island for 41 years - as my parents lived there for more than 20 years - and love the place. In the past two years I have turned an old ruin into a very comfortable and liveable house, and Can Vaqueret is the result. If you need any tips on where to go and what to do if you want a taste of the local Spanish way of living, don't hesitate to ask! Hope you have as much fun there as I always had.
