The historic city of Elche, or 'Elx' in Valencian, is unlike any other resort in the Costa Blanca, made famous for its protected palm groves housing over 20,000 palm trees, and its beautiful baroque 16th century Basillica of Santa Maria church in the heart of the old town. 23km inland from Alicante, this fascinating city is the third most populated in Valencian Community, boasting historic monuments, natural wonders and incredible ancient architecture. The palm-lined streets are full of character and charm and everywhere you turn there is a historic gem waiting to be discovered. First on the sightseeing list should be the Municipal Park, located in the historical area. Apart from the lush palm groves you'll find an 18th century water mill and outdoor amphitheatre, as well as a lively restaurant in the centre of the park. Next to the park is the Gothic Altamira Palace which also houses the Municipal Archaeological Museum, where you can find remnants of the Bronze and Copper ages, as well as Roman and Arab times. Travel back in time with a trip to the 12th century Arab baths in Calle Eres de Santa Llucia and finish the day with traditional tapas followed by a cocktail or two at one of the many trendy bars in the centre of town. We offer rentals in the heart of it all; from rentals with private pools by Los Arenales de Sol coast, to apartments near the centre.
