Villa with great garden and private pool area The villa is split over 2 floors , as we were only a family of 3 we stayed in the ground floor which was clean well maintained and equiped with hot water on tap for showering and washing , the best feature of this villa is the large private garden and pool area with plenty of sun loungers , swing chairs and BBQ area you also get a lovely view of the mountains from it . Brian and Marie , the owners , provided good customer service and had the kitchen stocked with milk , bread etc most welcome as we arrived late on a Sunday . Jatar is a nice village with a good bar called los Angeles we spent a couple of nights there , great tapas , theres also a bakery and small super market . The nearby town of Alhama has a few more shops , bars and restaurants as well as a very nice old historic part of the town , there is a nice natural hot water spring which is worth a visit . lake Bermejales is a short drive away it's a great spot for swimming . We drove about 1 hour to the historic city of Granada and had a lovely day even taking in a very good flamenco dancing show . I would recommend this villa to my family and friends its a beautiful quiet area perfect for family holidays . mark from ipswich Stayed Apr 2014 - Large Group The villa was excellent all the rooms were great in size and very comfortable. It is ideal for familys and large groups . The outside area is a great place to relax and enjoy yourself the pool is lovely and a good size. The villa is situated in beautiful village of jatar with stunning views of the country side and two wonderful tapas bars with very friendly staff . The owners of the property are very helpful and lovely people. You will need to rent a car to get out and about if you do I highly recommend a trip to the natural spas down the road in the nearest big town. Overall it is a fabulous place to go on holiday to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity.

agnes from Östersund Stayed Jul 2013 - Family Hi! Our big family spent some 10 days in Casa Jatar in the end of July-13, and we are all very satisfied! Very spacious villa in the village outskirt, very calm and relaxing. (except for the neigbor rooster, but you shouldn´t sleep that long in the mornings anyway...) The owner wasn´t there, but we were met and taking care of by Kritzlynn, a very nice lady arrangeing minibus tours to Morocco. When U travel with kids, a nice pool is a must, so we spent a lot of time in the nice garden. We spent several hours at the public pool as well, chatting with locals and drinking the best GT in the village. Jatar is a very charming village on the very foot of high mountains. Every morning we sent someone to get water from the fountain in the village center, very fresh and tasty! Theres 2 restaurants in the village and one supermarket. Los Angeles restaurant in very good with friendy staff. The other is more like a café, good for lunch, not for dinner. Its a 10 minutes drive to Alhama, a nice town with all U need, shops and restaurants, BUT avoid the termal bath, a tourist trap! Arenas de Ray is a very nice nearby village, they have supermarket, post office and a couple of restaurants. You will pass Arenas on your way to Bermejales, the water reservoir. Take a trip around the lake, there are tavernas worth to visit. Drive to the camping site on the opposite of the lake, there´s a resturant, bar, and U can hire small boats. There´s a lot of fish in the lake as well. One day we drove to Alhambra, Granada, a 1.5 H drive. The adults tought it was worth it, not the kids, to hot and to much walk. The Spanish roads are good, but bring (or rent) a gps, if U miss one exit on the highway, U may have to continue for like 40-50 km....Driving in the countryside is nice. there are signs and the pace is lower. So, overall, I will strongly recommend Casa Jatar, the village of Jatar and countryside Andalucia, skip the touristic parts. Casa Jatar must be best value in Spain!

Sharifa from Birmingham

sharifa from BIRMINGHAM Stayed Apr 2013 Beautiful villa in beautiful rural Spain. The location gave us the chance to see the natural beauty of Spain. When I say rural, I mean rural. You will definitely need to hire a car to get around to and from the property. We used google map to get around, as the satnav got us lost on the first day! The roads are quire simple to get around. And its an enjoyment driving in the roads as its very quite and not many cars about. The property itself was well equipped, large, peaceful and quite with a bakery and shop nearby. However there is no internet so best if you hire a wireless router from your car rental company. My other regret was not hiring the villa later in May because I didnt realise the swimming pool would not be available in April. But then again we were mostly out visiting all the local attractions. From the beautiful lake nearby to the beautiful Alhambra palace in Granada, The great Mosque in Cordoba, the hot spring in Alhama de Granada, the olive oil tasting tour in Neguila, the beautiful balcon de Europa and beach in Nerja and the port and Aquarium in Malaga. The owners are very friendly and helpful. If you have any questions, never hesitate to contact them. They kept in contact to make sure we reached the property safely and if we needed anything. Overall I would definitely recommend this villa.
