Almerimar and surroundings
Almerimar is situated 55km west of Almeria and 160km east of Malaga. It is one of the few modern built coastal resorts in Europe where the rainfall is scarce.
It boasts 13km of wide, sandy beaches and offers bars, hotels, shopping arcades and nightlife.
Unlike some of the larger Spanish resorts, Almerimar has managed to maintain very Spanish and, with its many tapas bars, it is still a popular holiday destination with Spaniards from all over Spain.
The town itself has a 1,000 berth marina .
Sailing and windsurfing are possible all year round and tuition is available for the novice.
The clear water makes it excellent for snorkelling and scuba diving .
For the golfers there is Almerimar Golf course and La Envia a little further away.
Almerimar is only an hour and half drive from the snows of the Sierra Nevada Ski resort and mountains , where activities like hiking, rock climbing, canoeing and cycling are just some of the options to skiing.
The Punta Entinas National Park, on the edge of Almerimar, is a paradise for people who appreciate scenic beauty. This natural area is a haven for a large number of birds including Cinnamon Teal Ducks, Red Shoveler Ducks, storks, mallards and pink flamingos. In addition to the rich flora and fauna that can be found in the park, it also offers numerous other attractions (fishing, underwater archaeology, inexhaustible photographic opportunities and walking paths.
No matter what your activity choice you will always find what you are looking for .

Granada is approximately 2 hours drive from Almerimar with the exceptional Alhambra Palace .
Almerimar is a friendly place to live with a good mix of local and expat people more than wiling to help you enjoy your stay. The climate is excellent and very conducive to an outdoor way of life, especially in the summer when the beach comes to life during the day and the disco bars come to life throughout the night.
The marina is well designed, and as you meander you way around the three Dársena's you get plenty of opportunities to stop off in the many bars and restaurants and enjoy a cold beer or glass or wine, and remember the Tapas ( only the Spanisch Bars )is included in the price here in Almerimar.
The beaches have been awarded the prestigious blue flag .
The 27 hole golf course is of championship standard.

Having read the only other review for this property, which appeared after paying for our booking, I was very concerned about what to expect. I took 7 relatives, with ages from 21-60 for my 50th Birthday. The photos do not do the villa justice. It is very large and with five females there was never a queue for the two bathrooms. the only queue was for the external cold water shower, which was fabulous after sunning on the beach, or many terraces the villa had. The views from the panoramic lounge were fantastic, with sea and mountains in view. We took a selection of DVSs, but only watched one in the whole week, as the villa was so relaxing. The external barbeque area is great. The beach is safe and secluded - ideal for skinny dipping. The water is clear and very clean with no sewage, it slopes to a depth of 1 metre then stays like that for at least 50 metres. We are already planning our next visit, and hope to stay for a much longer time. The visitors' book is full of praise from young and elderly visitors - some staying upto 2 months, with the only niggle being flies or jelly fish, which are seasonal and totally out of anyones control! We had a problem with the flies, but so did the whole of Almeria, and found by using the screens, eating outside after dark and sunbathing at the water's edge they were no problem. Ignore the negative review! If you want more photos or more info, my email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
