Overview

A modern, bright, very comfortable & well equipped 1st floor penthouse apartment with own balcony, large private sun terrace with all day sunshine & direct access to communal pool. Two bedrooms are laid out as 1 Double & 1 Twin. The 5th bed, if pre-booked, will be laid out as a small single bed in the area between the lounge & dining area. Although in the living space, this bed does not need to be folded away during the day. There is a fully equipped kitchen which includes oven, microwave, fridge/freezer & washing machine. The bathroom has a full bath with incorporated, enclosed shower. Situated in a quiet residential area but within easy 5 minute walk to the very Spanish town of El Algar with its many bars, restaurants, shops, local market etc. Only 5 min drive to nearest Mar Menor beach at Los Urrutias. Los Urrutias & nearby Los Nietos also have small & pretty Marinas where you can while away the hours watching the locals bring in their catch. Boat trips around the Mar Menor can be organised from here. Within 15 minutes drive is the beautiful & historic Naval port city Cartagena with its many shops, bars & the delightful harbour where you can enjoy tapas & glass of sangria whilst watching the boats come & go. There is also much to see & do here including the museum & the recently excavated Roman amphitheatre. The nearby old mining town of La Union is very quaint & has an interesting museum dedicated to the tin mining industry which was the mainstay occupation for most locals for several centuries. For nature lovers we have the nearby Calbalanque Nature Reserve & its many small secluded beaches. Horse riding can be booked in this area. For the golf lovers we have a multitude of courses within easy reach ranging from the cheaper end through to the luxury of the 3 very famous La Manga courses.

There is a beautiful communal pool which is literally at the end of the apartment corridor. The apartment block has only 20 apartments.... 10 ground floor & 10 1st floor penthouses. ONLY the 10 penthouses have direct access via the corridor to the communal pool. You can very easily swim in the communal pool & then go back to the apartment sun roof to enjoy the sunshine in total privacy.)

I cant rate this apartment or the owners highly enough. Everything about the apartment was perfect spacious clean comfortable rooms, huge private sun terrace which was a complete sun trap for a good 12 hours a day, everything you could need provided and your own parking space outside. The location is perfectly within easy reach to explore La Manga, Calblanque National Park, La Mar Menor, Cartagena and much more. Which includes beautiful beaches, mountains, forests, Roman towns and some excellent local restaurants and bars. The apartment is in a residential block which means a stay here really does let you discover the real Spain. There is a beautiful pool which I used every morning during my stay and never had to share, local supermarkets, bakery and shops are within very easy reach on foot or by car. The owners were incredibly accommodating, helpful and friendly going far above and beyond what I had expected from the first moment I made an enquiry right up to saying goodbye on my last day, they were on hand with tips, recommendations and advice whenever I needed it but kept the perfect balance of leaving you completely to your own devices at all other times. As I say, I cant rate this place highly enough and if I ever return to this area of Spain, I know exactly where Ill be staying.
