Fabulous Holiday Villa.
What to say apart from, we were all very very impressed, the size of the property, all the equipment-facilities that were inside, the location, the quality of Villa. Ideal for any Family. PERFECT.
Beautiful, Thank you to all that were involved with the Property & to JJ again thank you, to the Owner you have a Beautiful Villa.
Mr I A Fletcher
The villa is in a quiet residential area with a good view from the terrace, Local bars, restaurants and a small supermarket are all as described at 250yards away.
The terrace, BBQ, Bar and pool areas are excellent. Plenty of interior space, although some of the decor is a little dated. The CD player in Happys Bar was not working and looked best off in the bin. The large fridge in the kitchen did not close properly and so you constantly lost refrigeration.
The villa details specify Tennis and it is a little ambiguous as to whether this is within the villa grounds or not. It becomes apparent as soon as you get there the tennis court is just down the road, which was not a problem, although we had no way of booking it, since you are required to use a padlock with the villa number on it at the local amenities office and the padlock was nowhere to be found and after contacting JJ, he had never seen one! So having taken rackets etc we then couldnt play.
The details in the villa suggest all rubbish must be taken to the dustbins before checkout, the bins are 500yards away. As we found out from a local after we had done just this, there is a rule in Mijas that organic waste can only be disposed of between 9pm and 12midnight. If you are caught disposing of rubbish outside of these hours there is a 200euro fine!
We left the villa at 6pm on Sunday evening and having made 4trips to the bins before we left, we were luckily not seen by the local police!! I think the villa details need to make this clear to avoid anyone getting caught out in future.
The villa details list various cab company numbers, none of which will come and collect from Mijas, they all suggest you call the local Mijas taxi firm for which there isnt a number!
These are all minor details and overall we had a good time in a nice quiet area, in a large well appointed villa which is exactly what we wanted.
Firstly, the booking system through Villa Renters was so easy, although we did not pay the price quoted on the screen - it was significantly more once I had contact the owner but this appeared to be standard practice.
There were x10 of us staying at the Villa to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was in a great location as having only one bar and one restaurant close by there was no discussion over where to eat/drink and to be honest, both of the owners were really lovely and funny and so accommodating - the tapas in the bar was lovely and the owner funny, and food in the restaurant was really good. Both good value for money and happy to call taxis for us.
The beach is only a 30 minute walk or 5 minutes by taxi and Peurto Benalmadena about 20 minutes taxi. The closest beach is Bikini Beach which has a fabulous little Spanish bar/restaurant who make the most wonderful Mojitos and if you tip them. they will bring them to your sunbeds! Result -) A really nice part of Fuengirola. Would recommend going to Fish Alley for a meal out where you can get Chinese, Indian, English, Spanish - oh and fish with lots of hussle and bustle - its great. Theres even a music restaurant called Moochers but you need to book in advance
Before we set off I telephoned the owner who was lovely and most accommodating, and upon arrival we were met by JJ. A lovely guy who was very enthusiastic and gave us his mobile number should we need it during our stay.
The villa is in a lovely spot and is very spacious and has all the amenities you would require and certainly feels very secure and safe. Would definitely recommend, however, it is looking very tired. The pillows on each of the beds and spares in the wardrobes all seem old and very flat, but there again I do like my fluffy feather pillows so maybe I am spoilt! It seemed that once upon a time the villa would have felt very luxiourious but it doesnt anymore. Unfortunately there had been a leak which I know JJ was struggling to find the cause of so it was not his fault but this meant tiles off the wall in the en-suite bathroom which consequently smelt very damp (presume down to the leak), and the bedroom on the top floor didnt smell very nice either. Think with a spruce this villa could be amazing! Instead, we found it adequate for our stay, even though the location was ideal and so next time we may choose somewhere else.
I stayed with a large group of golfers for a long weekend. Owner was very helpful in assisting with our check in and check out times.
Kitchen and BBQ facilities are great, plenty of seating and a lounge area for watching TV and getting out of the sun. The stairs down to the lower floor can be a bit tricky, so maybe not for the elderly or anyone unsteady on their feet.
Great location with lots of courses available within a short driving distance, along with a lovely local bar and supermarket.
Overall we had a great stay, will hopefully return and will definitely recommend the villa to others.
The villa was ok. I suppose we have been spoiled with the villas in Florida. The villa was in need of a facelift, the decor inside and out required some decorating and the furniture inside looked old. The outside area was great apart from the patio furniture that has had better days, the bar stools were falling apart and the plastic green furniture set had faded. We had to educate the pool cleaner on cleaning duties has the edge of the pool had grime around the edge. He said this came from the villa next door which is still under construction. Apparently the grime came from the next door villa last year but it was still on the tiles in August 2010. Strange... but there you go. He said the pool water was murky due to all the people in the villa. I dont know how many people he expects in a villa this size ! The bedroom my wife and myself shared on the ground floor was a little bizzare, it looks like some kind of bathroom has been turned into a bedroom, you have to walk up and down stairs to get in bed, great in the middle of the night. There is a problem with ants in some bedrooms and also the utility room. It got so bad that the ants were in the fridge. But apart from that it was ok. This villa just needs bringing upto modern standars with decor and furnishings and it would be ok then.
The owner and JJ who hands over the keys were very good.
