* Kitchen: The kitchen boasts a new wood stove as well as a fully functional electric stove with range top. Microwave, refrigerator, coffee grinder, blender, and plenty of tableware are all avalable for your use. The kitchen looks out on a truly spectacular mountain view, and adjoins the dining room.
* Patio: Off the kitchen, overlooking the mountain peak Ñiajo, the enclosed patio is a quiet and private retreat with teracotta tile and an adjoining stone barbeque.

We hope you will appreciate the antique family atmosphere of the house, and be as careful with it as you would with your own home.

Village and local area
* Village of Ribota: The village of Ribota is a tranquil break from modern life. It is the trailhead for numerous hikes, and boasts a quaint historical church that holds mass on Saturdays. The ancient school building has been converted into a health center while still retaining much of its antique charm. All the buildings in the town are authentic old Northern Spanish construction of stone and timber.
* Local Services: Just five minutes away in the nearby village of Oseja, are all the necessities and services. Oseja has two restaurants, a grocery store, as well as some additional shops to provide fresh meat, bread, and fruit. The nearest bar to Ribota is also located in Oseja, a friendly establishment great for a quiet drink and some local color.

* Nearby Attractions: Just one hour away are the capital cities of Gijon, Oviedo, and Santander. Also an hour away is the beautiful beach town of Ribadesella with watersports including surfing. If you're interested in kayaking and whitewater rafting thirty minutes away boats and equipment can easily be rented in Cangas de Onis, and Arriondas.

A beautiful historic home in a tiny Northern Spanish village. Nestled in the Picos de Europa, one of Europe's most popular hiking destinations!

Fantastic setting, eagles soaring, terrace views yet private. Lovely walks but also ideal to unwind and relax. Bedrooms comfortable, sitting room best for four people. Loads of hot water for showers. Rather isolated so need to bring plenty of food supplies as shop in next village best avoided it seems a long road back to the bigger town to stock up. Would go again and recommend.

Casa Diaz in Ribota is an ideal place for a traveler who wishes to settle in to a spot and feel like part of the country. The scenery is breathtaking, and day visits to surrounding villages and sites are easy to do. In the midst of this, Casa Diaz is a home away from home. It's Spanish flavor, well-equipped kitchen, and comfortable rooms make it a wonderful place to spend time. The patio facing the mountain is an added treat. There are many paths to walk, and the surroundings are idyllic.. I would recommend this home to those who like to spend time in one place, cook some of their own food, (although there are restaurants in nearby villages), and relax and refresh their souls. It is an appropriate venue for children who like to be outside. A bit of Spanish language would make this even better, but it is not essential.

This wonderful little house is nestled in an amazing valley right in the midst of the Picos de Europa. I was travelling in a group of five women and felt completely comfortable and safe in the village of Ribota. We were surprised and pleased that the weather in October was still suitable for walks, hikes, and even a picnic. We purchased supplies and groceries in nearby villages, from truck vendors which visited "our" village, or in the community of Oseja. The kitchen is well equiped which made meal preparation easy. There is a patio for outside eating which overlooks the village as well as the spectacular surrounding landscape. I would recommend this spot to anyone who wants to experience an authentic and picturesque Spain.

Ribota is a perfect escape from modernity, while this villa provides all the modern needs to make your stay comfortable. The air is fresh and the scenery is magnificent. We went on a 20 mile hike the first day and it was one of the most enjoyable I have ever had. I reccomend visiting the nearby town, oseja (2 mi away) for local food and also a great small bar/restaurant. I highly reccomend this villa for a great family or romantic getaway that will be unmatched almost anywhere else in the country.

This warm, lovely home is situated in the most idyllic setting in Spain and gives the visitor what I believe to be the most authentic Spanish experience available. I cannot say enough of how wonderful this place is. Beautiful surroundings, lots of hikes, wonderful people, and unbelievable food and wine- This is not for the average tourist- this is the real deal, and the authentic experience is not for everyone. Food lovers will not find fancy restaurants on everycorner but they will find families making amazing provincial food in the local restaurants with flavors far beyond what is available in the trendy tapas bars here in the states, The freshest products and amazing cheeses, wild boar sausages , cabrales aged in the local caves and no shortage of availability of Spanish wines to wash them down. This is a place you would find an article on in Saveur magazine. Also for nature lovers, Ribota is located on the edge of the Picos National Park and the government has done a fantastic job of creating and maintaining trails for great hikes. This is the true Spain and one that I hope everyone has a chance to experience.
