Situated in a peaceful valley, surrounded by the pine-clad mountains of North West Murcia, this is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for that ‘get away from it all’ holiday. The inland area of Murcia is one of Spain’s best kept secrets with an enormous variety of places to see and things to do.
The villages of Barranda and Archivel are within a couple of miles from the villa and provide a range of good restaurants and tapas bars, and small shops.
The nearest town of Caravaca de la Cruz is a ten minute drive away and is the fifth Holy City of Catholic Christianity, along with Rome, Jerusalem, Santiago de Compostela and Camaleño, and celebrates the Jubilee every 7 years (2017 will be the next Jubilee year). Caravaca is dominated by the medieval Castle of Santa Cruz, and contains several convents and a fine parish church, with a miraculous cross celebrated for its healing power, in honor of which a yearly festival is held on 3 May.
There is a weekly market on a Monday with local fruit, vegetables, cheeses and olives, and the Grand Via has a wide range of individual shops and excellent typically Spanish restaurants.
Set in grounds of over an acre, with spectacular views over the surrounding countryside, this luxury villa has been decorated to a high standard with quality furnishings and is well-equipped. Owned and used by a UK family, the villa has the high standards and all home comforts you would wish for.
There are 3 bedrooms, sleeping 6, all with fitted wardrobes and ceiling fans. The master bedroom, with en-suite shower room, has a kingsize bed, bedroom 2 is a double, and bedroom 3 has twin beds. There is a choice of summer or winter weight duvets, with an electric blanket (master bed) and hot water bottles for winter holidays. There is also a cot, with bedding, available for babies, a highchair, toilet step and potty. The family bathroom is well appointed, with a shower over the bath. All bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are provided. A hairdryer is also available.
The well equipped kitchen has a ceramic hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, filter coffee maker and all the crockery and utensils you could wish for. You will find the washing machine in the garage. In the separate dining room, there is a large dining table with 6 leather chairs. Both living rooms also have ceiling fans.
Double doors lead through to the large sitting room, with 3 leather sofas, seating 8, and a wood burner stove for chilly evenings. You will find plenty to entertain you, with a 32” LCD TV with satellite channels, video player and Play Station 2 (also plays DVDs), CD mini hi-fi and iPod speakers. There are a selection of CDs, videos, DVDs, and PS2 games to play. On the bookcase, you will find a wide selection of novels, local information books and maps, and board games.
Both living rooms have patio doors leading to the covered terrace, which has a comfortable seating area and dining table. There is a large south-facing patio area with lots of space for you to have a BBQ, where you can enjoy dining al fresco and relax at the end of the day, watching the beautiful sunset over the mountains.
The terrace overlooks the 10m x 5m swimming pool with Roman steps and shower area. There are sun loungers and parasols beside the pool.
The landscaped gardens are home to over 40 almond trees and oleander bushes, with a palm tree-lined driveway, with views of the mountains from all sides of the villa.
There is an excellent mobile phone signal. British satellite TV and free wifi is available.
A hire car is essential for visiting this property.
The property is managed locally by an English couple, who hold the keys and maintain the pool and house.

Thank you for such a nice break in this lovely villa.
Just returned from a fabulous stay at Casa de las Palmeras and what can I say....it was amazing. The villa is in a more rural part of Spain....enough to be lovely and private, but only 5 mins from 2 villages and 10 mins drive to the town of Caravaca de la cruz. We had a late flight but we're still greeted on our arrival by Julie and Dave who maintain the property....they were fantastic. The place was spotless and extremely well equipped and furnished to a high standard. Both the kids and the adults loved the pool area and we spent most of the holiday here. Visited Caravaca 10 mins, Lorca 1 hour (very hot) Torrevieja 90 mins.....plenty of other places to get out and see if you wish. The villa is surrounded by fantastic views of hills/ mountains and we saw the local Eagle looking for lunch several times. Sheena the owner sent plenty of information ahead of our stay and communication was excellent.Wonderful holiday and we would definitely return in the future. Thanks again, Craig.
We had a lovely two weeks at the villa with two of our grandchildren. They practically lived in the pool, enjoyed a bounce on the trampoline, watched an occasional dvd and had a few games on the games consul. Our favourite past time of all was laying out on the sun loungers every night and star gazing. There was the added bonus of watching a pair of eagles hovering overhead each day. All the entertainment we needed! Villa was lovely and clean and very well equipped. We even had the luxury of huge soft pool towels. Julie, the property manager was really helpful but not intrusive.
I can not thank the owner enough for the time spent in this villa. This was a piece of heaven, I booked the villa for me and my family and we all found it to be beyond our expectations. The villa is larger than expected with all amenities you could wish for. The High standard of cleanliness and furnishings was excellent. The property manager was extremely helpful and went out of her way to help including a shop for us for our arrival and made our stay even more enjoyable. I would recommend this villa to anyone who is looking for an outstanding home from home. Thank you once again. Karen, Allan and Family (England).
Had a great 2 weeks. Villa is well equipped. Great location very quiet and picturesque. Not the usual tourist spot. Very Spanish, found everyone very helpful.

Casa de las Palmeras is set in grounds of over an acre, with spectacular views over the surrounding countryside and mountains. The kitchen faces east and there are wonderful sunrises (if you are up that early!) and in the evening, you can sit on the veranda watching the sun set to the west.
